Obiageli Ezekwesili did a good job with Mehdi Hasan .. kudos to her.. what most people don't understand is that most developed countries that we envy today had their 'teething' periods too and they never went on world stage to discredit their countries...
i felt soo happy when that girl says Nigeria is the largest economy in africa, one day i hope Nigeria will be the largest economy in the world, insha Allah 💪🏽
9:27 mehdi should be able to admit when he gets things wrong. Not all ministers are politicians. they could sometimes be appointed by the president due to their special skills.
Africa, is still recovering from the effects of traumatic colonisation and slavery. It’s effect don’t just disappear because Europe has signed an ‘equality act’. The amount of money coming out of Africa is estimated to be around 10 times the amount of foreign aid going into Africa. A system has been set up that benefit the rich and those in power (Europeans). 1 Many African countries are in million and billions of dollars of debt to eueperan countries. This is income for these countries increase their worth. (EG. Malawi owes noway through the World Bank around US$100 Billion.) 2.A system is in place that doesn’t allow Africa to benefit from it’s billions if not trillions of dollars worth of natural resources. They are rich in oil, natural rocks, crops, fertile land, space. Africa sells these to the European world at a fraction of their worth, because they can’t even sell it to each other the import quotas and tarriffs are shocking. Crafty tax avoidance strategies by these European countries prevent Africa from making any real money. International countries control almost all of Africa’s natural resources. 3.Africa is used as a dumping ground by many mliti-natinal companies. They dump their toxic wate into africa’s grounds and rivers destroying it for centuries. They destroy the land preventing the people from taking advantage of it. 4. Europe only wants leaders in power who will give them access to Africa. Who do you think africa’s corrupt leaders sell and give their countries resources to? There are many cases of Europe subtly getting rid of effective leaders to their benefit. PS. The international budget is incredible low. UK'S international aid budget is only 1.4% of the government spending. A person earning £25000 only puts an average of £54 a year into it. And all of doesn't even go to africa, Again this idea that the international budget is what is crippling Europe and holding it back is obsoletely rubbish. The money europe hand over has so many strings attached it's a joke. I could go on but i think i've made my case.Euope’s hands are not clean. So this view that the only problem wrong with Africa is the thievery and corruption of it’s leader, and if Africa could only take advantage of the ‘aid’ money ‘freely’ given to them by the kind generous charitable 'European' man they’ll be somewhere. It is little wonder why Africa’s supply of corrupt villains have been so plentiful over the years by the European media. Africa’s biggest problem is the corruption by Europe. They are sucking it dry.
+Donna Lini no. corruption, cronyism, nepotism has destroyed africa. tribalism, wars, overpopulation, famine and no infrastructure has destroyed nigeria.
Donna Lini she said it herself. colonialism only effected the way corruption was dealt with and even that statement was subjective. you are hellbent on blaming white colonialism because you don't want to believe black people are at fault of their own problems. let's look at south africa. since the ending of apartheid south africa has faced a greater disparity of wealth, unemployment went through the roof and crime went up. even the king of zulus and desmond tutu said south africa was safer and better managed under the white man.
this lady is brilliant..very intelligent and courageous. She had limitations as Minister & at the bank. All together, she did what she could for the good. Bravo!
Every part of the nation is backward and when there is lack of will either military or civilian same will be the result. Democracy is more than 20 years the scenario has not changed. When consider some part to be relatively better because of our local comparison, on international scale every part of the nation is in peril. Our leaders not only lack the will develop the nation they are not exposed as well.
How Corrupt is Pres. OBJ? My sense of OBJ was that he gave me the “freedom to define” the work that I did in ensuring that public procurement was more transparent than what it used to be… Recently we saw a medical doctor walked out the PM in London hospital in his zone without reference to ‘Who’ the PM is…a culture that has proven the systemic strength of the English people and government. After 50yrs of independence, a minister of FRN is saying doing her job effectively is a ‘given freedom’-The subservience and deficiency of true independence and democracy. #Whatashame!
I must say she changed my impression of Nigeria, if such strong people hold public office then lot of good can be done. However, I don't have "emprical evidence" to verify whether she holds her ground or not.
This guy Mehdi is a great example of why the dominance of males in leadership positions needs to balance. I got the distinct sense part way through that the interaction mirrored the classic miscommunication between man and woman. Underlying his whole paradigm in this video was reductionism. In addition to that there's a quest to identify who or what is to blame. You can never rightfully blame a person, only the system. The system emerges based on all the interactions between all the people and organisations involved. It doesn't appear overnight and neither can it be changed overnight. Are there keystones in the system? Of course but changing just one or two of them won't be the end of the task. Today's problems were yesterday's solutions. That will always be the case, hence there's the scope for a show like this to have someone sit high and mighty with hindsight and say "That didn't work". What would happen if we instead framed 'failure' as 'feedback' and used that new information to do better on every attempt? If the people involved knew it wasn't going to work, would they have done it that way? Weren't they just doing their best from the level of awareness they had at the time? Isn't hindsight how Mehdi can sit there and say "That, that and that didn't work and him, her and that is to blame." What would happen if the paradigm managing our human interactions at the most fundamental level moved from competition to collaboration? Was Mehdi seeking the objective truth? Or was his adversarial attitude him asserting his will to mould the narrative to fit a particular frame? Was he asking neutral questions? Is he aware of any bias he may have that's beyond his awareness? Who wrote the questions he was asking?
The Best brains and elites in Nigeria Africa that will re-shape the future of the World. Nigerians are blessed and very lucky to ..., a great future laid ahead of them and the incoming government of President Buhari will create a New Nigeria. Congratulations Nigerians!. Your bros from Paris
How many people are watching in 2018 to confirm that Nigeria got even worse. No improvements whatsoever in system of governance. Nigeria is a failed state, the antidote to getting her in motion for success is still not in sight.
Let's be honest. Years of government corruption... The majority still impoverished. Lack of any visible development. It's not becoming a failed state, it's been a failed state... Let's not forget the numerous military coups
She is smarter than most of our leaders. And yes Nigeria is not a creation of Uk first the Name ! Nigeria has no meaning in English is simple because in cames from the Name of the Niger River its name came from an African word "Gir N Gir" whitch means River of Rivers. The originated from modern day Mali ... the first western man to use that name was an Italian writter he used the name to refer to the area ... and more the economic problem in Nigeria, more precisely the north are not the fault of the military leaders . in reality it is the economic system that is the problem . we took the drug called ' OIL ' instead of industrializ the country and have no policy for manufacturing. of we do so the population will no more be a problem but a benediction and maybe be not enough look at China or India ... And more the ethnic and religious faith are not the problem because their is no country with only one ethnic group or Religion.. the problem is no history Nigeria dont know their history not even one single day to remember SLAVERY ! when panafricanism will be introduce in our history Nigeria will not only be a regional power but a real superpower.
I keep asking my self why this more learned people are not leading Nigeria instead they vote back old cargo's who cant even don't know their right from left and that is why Nigeria will never move forward.
Kudos to #Obiageli_Ezekwesilli Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has a final commendation of Nigeria , other commendations from partners and organizations are helpful though.
This Woman just said absolute nonsense!!!! Nigeria is not divided along religious and ethnic lines!?!?! So you're trying to tell me that Nigeria is not a creation of the British Empire!?!?! Thunder Strike our Family and with your one nigeria. Just to prove you wrong, who gave Nigeria her Name!?! Or you think you can come and confuse us with big big grammar!?!? Amadi Ohah Strike you there!!! That some of us didn't go to school doesn't mean that we are all fools!! Just have a referendum in the Eastern part of that zoo and see how what will happen.
Callistus Amilo and famous ossai see how you guys are here disgracing yourselves? Do you guys lack comprehension or what? What she said is simple, clear and it was straightforward.....those things are all by-products of a failed leadership. Appropriate and great leadership would put all those lines in check just like in every other nation with great leadership. Simple!
Callistus Amilo Mr man you must be one of those 'Biafran' who allow sentiment to cloud their sense of reasoning or you just unable to comprehend simple statement.
pls tell us what is der to comprehend, when has the combination with the hausa been divine ..... the country is still together because some small group will lose a lot from its seperation .. we all know we do not like each other
why do we like to decieve ourself ... 1914 a british man join 2 regions .. then how is that divine ... thinking that we all love each other is self deception ... a NIGERIAN man rather liaise with a foreigner that another tribe from its country .. look around you or why do you think a yoruba man will call a calabar man "omo igbo"
This interviewer doesn't know the meaning of "politician". Politicians are people who play politics. Politics deals with being nominated as a candidate and being voted for to a political post. A politician goes through a primary election and then the main election. This lady is a minister and didn't go through any of those, she's not a politician, she works for the government, she's a civil servants. This interviewer knows nothing, he talks too much.
LMAO..stupid corrupt to the core woman..obasanjo's call girl..the fool is still going around grandstanding and always trying to character assassinate the current president PMB for holding them accountable with the way they misgovern for the past 19 years..moreover, since 2015 she's been using the intl corruption agency T.I she co-founded to be unjustly ranking Nigeria low because she hates the current president for daring to hold their corrupt hellish souls to account for their failed mis-governance of the past.
European dominated economic system in the world will change soon. BRICS countries are setting up their own bank to challenge this system. They cannot ignore voices of countries like China, India, South Africa etc anymore. African countries can take India as an example for political stability inspite of its 200 languages and all possible religions.
She handled herself well and NOT him because he doesn't have to be handled, he is a reporter/journalist/interviewer who has a series of questions to ask which his media organization allowed him to ask lol! I know you are comparing to his other guests who utterly fail in answering properly most of his questions as comparing to this lady guest.
You made me hate this particular episode and all those question you were asking that woman in the beginning of this episode, is very funny. do your proper research before inviting people to that podium. I will surely support this woman as a future leader in our country, I am very proud of her.
Sorry Al Jazeera, thus guy hassan must learn how not to interupt his guests. Look how beautiful and respectful this lady even though I diagree with her in some points. But this guys OMG.
For the people in the comment section. This is how the interviewer handles all his guests. Although he tried his usual stunts on her, the lady managed to handle him pretty well compared to most guests. She is clearly his intellectual superior.
Useless APC and PDP is not an option. Two failed political parties in Nigeria. YOUNG PROGRESSIVES PARTY PROFESSOR KINGSLEY AND UMMA GETSO FOR PRESIDENT.
I think this is not so good of a product, running several political offices, she claimed not to be a politician. She can't even defend herself well without looking guilty in every of her response.
And you should have used your own brain properly before talking about Mehdi, and this is because you in the first place overlooked the actual title of this program/interview, which is 'Head to Head'. What is the actual meaning of this interview? The meaning and the nature of this interview is NOT TO TALK VERY SOFETLT, but rather aggressively! And this exactly what he was conducting his interviews and that is why his media agency gave him that job.
kie9372 you oviously haven't watch all the episodes, he's like this with everyone, this is why its at oxford. he brings out the critical issues, this is why many people feel he is being harsh.
@@haddingtoniangcp2464 Well as you can see they cant do it for sure. Do you know the meaning of insanity, doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result.
@@EternallyGod they can't do it doesn't meant it can't be done eventually. What Nigeria has is inept leadership since independence. Mind you, it was not too long ago that the almighty Dollar was 75 Kobo and Nigerians had no reason to leave home. So if it was better then, it sure isn't all doom and gloom so much do Whites gotta come in to rule. It will get better.
@@haddingtoniangcp2464 What makes you say it will get better and not stay the same or get worse? Reality and what you want to happen arent the same thing.
@@EternallyGod because I'm optimistic it will. It was better and it got bad so to say it won't go back to getting better is to be pessimistic. I'm optimistic it will get better.
This guy Mehdi Hasan need to learn how to operate an open communication. He is very incompetent in debating a dialogue. He really irritated me, I enjoyed listening to this lady but HIM. I just wish he kept his mouth shut.
