Today, Nigeria's government deployed its military on its own unarmed civilians. They also prevented medics from attending to the injured. These are crimes against humanity.

Sadly the problem is beyond #EndSARS now, the whole country needs to be reformed - the government is killing us without remorse and there is literally nothing we can do about it. We have our evidence and we need an intervention from the international criminal courts and the likes 🙏🏻, voting them out won't be and isn't enough. The power-hungry leaders make too much money to let go without a fight 🥺. Let's spread the word, my brothers!
United States is also fighting for the same , but we're supposed to be a "first world country" , lies all lies just as corrupt as Nigeria perhaps even worse since, here they tell us we have money but only the 1% have all the money
@Yuki BabaYaga unfortunately this wouldn't change anything in Nigeria. The generation before ours, which is the generation in power gulping up all of Nigeria's resources will much rather allow the military kill all the youths than let this happen because all the money they have comes from the corruption which changing things (restructuring) would stop.
A senator in Nigeria takes home roughly 30 million naira a month while the minimum wage in the country is 30,000 naira a month and as we speak, no governor is paying that salary. They still pay the old 18,500 a month.

It's so sad because our "president", Buhari is still sitting pretty like the bot that he is. He's literally the worst thing to happen to Nigeria. We in the middle of a revolution and mans is acting like he's watching a movie. What a failed human.
@Event horizon Nigeria is already a failed state and has been a failed state for decades. We are trying to salvage Nigeria from the woefully corrupt and inept cabal that calls itself a government.

I don’t know for I am not Nigerian, nor do I live there... but I do know of the police cruelties in Mexico... who disappear tourists, help to kidnap and shoot you just the same as the cartels, because... they are part of the cartels, in the northern boundaries of Mexico 🇲🇽 to me.... though is not isolated to one area.. I know the devastation of not being able to trust who is supposed to be there to protect you. They’ve also killed ppl who tried to protest, or did... some for just singing the “wrong” songs, just drop back part of the remains, but never their actual identities... the worst type of global trend.... to that, those parts, I can relate... and I feel for Nigeria 🇳🇬 💔.
They dont arrest you because you have nice clothes and think you are a criminal, they arrest you because nice clothes indicates you have money to give.

Thank you Trevor, I needed the little laugh, us Nigerians are resilient and we won't back down until our demands are met. Thank you for sharing our story.
Americans have been so wrapped up in the chaos of the last 4 years we haven't heard much news around the world. We all deserve dignity wherever we are from.
I understand where you're coming from but the problems in America have long since spanned 4 years ago. The only difference now is that more people are yelling it and more people are recording...
@@paddor that's a touch harsh! To Blanket statement the entire population of the U.S. about not knowing the news and not caring about other countries "ever" doesn't make much sense, since we are the most diverse country in the world for some time now. Granted there is a large population that has know idea what goes on in the rest of the world.
Uh please don’t try to speak for all Americans. Some of us travel, some of us have families spread out across the globe, some of us actually give a damn about the world as a whole... I do agree that the concept of human rights is a thing that should exists for everyone regardless of nationality though.
@@amoscardoza5253 I see your point. What I'm saying is that the media attention has been based on American problems. I don't feel that the primary news organizations report news from around the world. Everything seems to be about the next outrageous thing that our Narcissist in chief does. PBS news seems to be the only well rounded source of information.
Nigeria has been a mess for a long time. I'm old enough to remember Biafra, the oil development in the coastal deltas that left the impoverished locals in the dust, the struggles of Fela Kuti & his sons against the Gov't, & the Muslim troubles in the north. Sad. So much potential. Sure, loads of blame for the legacy of colonial powers I'm sure . . .
I dont truly blame anything but lack of unity. Like Trevor said, we as Nigerians have never been able to come together. The presidents are voted in not based on weather people think they are qualified to run the country but based on what ethnic group they are from, which is meant to dictate the ethnic group they favour during their term, and weather or not that president lives up to this expectation or his promises, the people of the group still find peace with the fact that one of theirs is in power. It is very exhausting.
@@goldminnie2086 If you are implying we should split, then you should know that among us, some states are poorer in resources than others, so we depend on each other, a split will probably lead to war, do some research on the biafra war.
Absolutely heartbreaking. This world is horrific. I thought America 🇺🇸 was bad, it’s all the same. 😔 😢 thanks fir spreading awareness about this. That’s the key for change. 💯 % Unacceptable.
It's horrible what is happening to the people in Nigeria but it is not all the same. There are bad things happening and there is a solution for every issue. As for now it's the US and Nigeria there are still 194 countries where this isn't happening as far as we know. How about looking into what the others are doing. Examples: Almost every country in Europe, South Korea, New Zealand, Philippines, Thailand, Morrocco, Tunesia, Kongo, Namibia, Greece, Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Albania, Greenland, Iceland, Chile, Argentina, Ecuador, .... and MANY more Same as health insurance in the US. How come hundreds of other countries can cover healthcare for everyone and keep up high standards and great economies without going bankrupt but the US says it can't?
Nigerians, pls remember Venezuela, Lybia, Iraq, Syria etc. Oil-rich country problems, same problems....fighting your goverment ....someone wants your oil for free. Lagos will look like Allepo or Tripoli. Prayers for you from South Africa.
Yes, it has happened already. Shell, Exxon, Chevron, Agip, Total control most of the oil and even a wikileaks information revealed how much power Shell has over Nigeria. The government is less powerful according to the VP of Shell in Africa. And the IMF, World Bank, etc use debt to tie down the country perpetually
@@banksofbarcelona3893 Its too bad. African countries dnt support each other....we watched Lybia collapse no one went up North to support Gaddafi. Now Oil is being pumped out of Africa for free. Africa must support Nigeria not to collapse.
@@amarut6208 unfortunately the only way forward is for oil to crash below $10 a barrel, for Africa to breathe, the west wont let Nigeria collapse as long as the political class serves the interests of western oil corporations especially Shell oil the most powerful of them all. Also the political class in Nigeria helps fuel Boko Haram and other terrorists so their military industrial complex can sell weapons at the masses expense. There's a lot to lose if Nigeria collapses
Nigerians have really changed the game when it comes to protesting....they stay in strategic places to avoid movement or block money inflow to the politicians at these stations they are snooker board games, media for football watching, There's free charging spots, free large meals, snacks, water, call codes for legal, medical assistance, they clean up when they're done protesting, they play music dance and sing along to thier artists in solidarity, free rain coats, residents allow protesters get changed in thier houses....they even donated 2.5 million to get a prosthetic leg for one of the protestrs that was crippled but still partook in the protest, they even have billboards placed up in support of the movemen, fundraising sites that give credits to online protesters and to injured or hospitalised protesters, canfles were held for the dead, muslims had thier congregational prayers on the ground on Friday, christains hrlp services on Sundays.... ...... To be honest... I'M PROUD OF THEM ❤️💪🏾
I usually find these stereotypes offensive but they're hilarious now. but we are scared too death here and I came searching for humor. It's a very proud time to be Nigerian, love to see us all united fighting for something worth it. God help us, thank you Trevor.
You did a fantastic job with this. This our reality. SARS takes you to an ATM machine at gun point to withdraw your money or use a POS. and then frame you with a weapon to keep you quiet. If you do not comply you may be killed or badly injured.
The Nigerian govt handled this all wrong. There should have been talks. This should have been a process. They should at least 'act' like they care about the people.
Yes, not only SARS but other police tactical unit, kidnap young men and take them to the ATM or sometimes ask you to make wire transfer to them while threatening to shoot you

Trevor, thank so much for shedding a light on this....I'm a Nigerian living in Nigeria and Just yesterday the army gunned down 78 people during the protests...😞
They turned off the lights removed the CCTV cameras and Nigerian Army open fire on Unharmed peaceful protesters they even seized some dead bodies so that people won't know the amount of people that were murdered in Lekki yesterday.
The mode of dispersing protesters in Nigeria in the past by arrests, tear gas, shooting and killing worked with us parents. It worked for many years and it was used to silence and oppress the Nigerian citizens for years. Now the same method is being applied to the Buhari called "lazy youths" and "phone pressing" generation. It didn't work. It didn't work. It didn't work this time. Thank goodness.

I want the back story. What caused Nigerian government to police against their own people? How does Nigerian oil play into all this. Police brutality anywhere signals corruption in government.
Nigeria is showing what real police brutality is compared to the complaints people get in the states. Africa is all together too corrupt. Im not sure what the fix is but I know its not just throwing money at them in the hope something goes better.
Well this is the back story, Nigerian government created SARS ( Special Anti Robbery Squad) to fight crimes. Crimes which were perpetrated by hungry people that the same government have failed.Nigerian oil has really corrupt the elite in Nigeria, the 10% upper elite controls all the wealth in Nigeria like the Oligarch, so they don’t want power to move, they crack down on any movement that goes against any of the policies to keep people shut and oppressed, one of the main trade partners of Nigeria are the UK and US government, one is the colonizer and the other one is an opportunist, so they get to manipulate the Nigerian government in order to foster their own political agenda. Long story short, SARs was created to fight crime about 11 years ago but they became compromised and started turning the gun on Young Nigerians, extorting them for money and sometimes killing and dumping their body in graves.

@Easliy Displeased yeah but at the same time, what happened in Nigeria was a tragedy. We need to remove the authenticity of antifa and blm (the aggressive chapters, not the movement as a whole nor the message). But our problems aren't the same everywhere, Nigeria seems to actually have a serious problem with that unit. You can't say "that's amazing" or "that's awesome" it's disrespectful to the dead
The whole world... the little people are tired of being treated like pawns in a game MCd by the rich... I am tired of this life.... This game... that has been played for eons... always ends the same, revolution, death, 'reform'.... and then back at it again. This WHOLE world needs a reboot.
There was a very wise man called Jiddu Krishnamurti that proposed something very interesting. Since the game always ends like you said ("revolution, death, 'reform'.... and then back at it again"), he proposes that the only way to fix societies is if individuals fix themselves. Self-observation. Individual revolution. If everyone takes time to understand their own actions, their desires, their virtues and flaws, in an honest way, then there is no need to fix society. It seems selfish, at first, but then we just realize how much energy we lose judging others and discussing this and that, and how much it saddens us when we see people doing all kind of idiotic shit. Suddenly, if we start taking care of ourselves and those around us (family, friends, local communities) everything becomes more simple and our strength seems to triple. A small union of determined, focused individuals, has much more power than a mass of disoriented fools. Just sharing a notion.

The Communist edifices in Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, and the big brother, USSR, all collapsed, while the two Germans that are ethnically the same but split by communism vs capitalism were reunited. Such is the power of ethnic nationalism.* *Czechoslovakia was made up of two ethnic groups, the Czech and the Slovakians. Both separated peacefully on 1st January 1993. The former is today 10.6 million people and the latter 5.4 million. Added together, they're not up to Lagos. Yet, they split for peace. It broke into six countries same year - all along ethnic lines, namely: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Slovenia.* *Then the big brother, USSR. It had, at least, the following ethnic groups identified by their languages:* *Regional languages:* Ukrainian Belarusian Uzbek Kazakh Georgian Azerbaijani Lithuanian Moldavian Latvian Kyrgyz Tajik Armenian Turkmen Estonian Minority languages: Abkhaz Bashkir Buryat Chechen Finnish Volga German Korean Ossetian Tatar & various others. *Today, your fingers will not be enough to count the number of countries that have emerged from the USSR.* *Sit down there and be preaching unity in Nigeria as if you're the kindest gentleman on earth while you have no solution to the genocide in Southern Kaduna, the illegal but officially condoned arms in the hands of killer herdsmen roaming the country, and be condemning those better informed about the fact that the country is undergoing the strains of a forced union and should be peacefully restructured or let people go their separate ways.* *In Europe, the two best examples of fairly stable multi-ethnic states are the UK and Switzerland. The former is led by reasonable men who permitted regional autonomy to the Irish, the Scots and the Welsh, while the English dominate Westminster. That's something some of us are asking for, but you're fighting against it in your own country wracked by ethnic crisis. Your own people are better off under oppression of fellow black men because your people have bad leaders who can't do better than their new internal colonisers.* *The latter country, Switzerland, has four ethnic groups. The other seven provincesare English-speaking. Yet, Canada is bilingual for the sake of Quebec! And each of the provinces is largely self-governing.* *Here we are in Nigeria, you have people arguing vehemently that a decrepit, structurally-flawed, and crisis-prone artificial contraption badly configured by the British only needs good people to survive. Why not centralise the powers of the British regions to London and see what happens?* *My Conclusion:* *When many commentators read and repost or share your articles with many of their friends and contacts, they do so because they want others to learn.* *I share this article with that mindset and so should you.* *I rest my case.* *Dr. Wumi Akintide.*

And yes we are going to show the world how protests are done because we've been protesting for more than 50 years without significant improvement yet the world didn't know that. Thanks again for lending a voice. Every spanner is a good tool in this restructuring process.
It sounds like Amer policing because as in America there is one aim. To entrench and maintain the status quo. The endemic corruption in Nigeria benefits the connected and the Government fears these protests could be the start of othet more pressing issues eg. Corruption, zero safety net, environmental degradation, national security issue with boko haram...much like the Arab Spring revolution. This is the real fear of the Nigerian crisis. And the Govt knows they are buying time while sitting on a powder keg of unresolved issues. They know "End SARs" is just the lesser of other problems.
The attacks are because for the first time the Youths have the Govt. scared and confused I explained it in this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jgfNii2QagQ.html
If it’s global, does that mean that colonialism is at the root? I don’t know, but it sounds like that 1% elite that we keep talking about is attacking the masses, globally by manipulating the “powers that be” in every country. #ijs #MassesUnite
@Biden Is Corrupt AF Vote Trump Question then. How come we don't hear "Law and Order" from peaceful police in peaceful societies? How come it's only ever from corrupt politicians and police that will make up crime or have the power to lie with impunity and disrupt, maim, or kill basically anyone they want to? Your tired use of 'socialism' as a catchall is so unbelievably vapid that I'm not going to do anything other than let you know how abysmally stupid it makes you look. America isn't socialist; despite this, it's attacking its own citizens right now.
@Gregory Stevens, Seriously? After all the shit revealed about police in the U.S. thanks to phones, body cams, and dash cams you have the gall to use "The innocent have nothing to fear" line?
When I first read this: I thought Nigerians were calling for an end to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome. I was like: Wow good for them! Lol how clueless I was.
@@Oliver-gn4ih Yes, and it's also this elite unit of the Nigerian Police known as Special Anti-Robbery Squad That acts largely outside of their parent organization Specializing in preventing theft and crimes of that nature But goes about this in extreme ways: Using torture, brutality, extortion, targeting of the younger population and all around straight up corrupt methods Ones that are even human rights violations To get this task done Hence all these protests which have been around since 2017 now in some way or another Having seen what they have even done to children, none of this surprising
@@RetroVzqz9313 all protester have to buy grenades, sniper, AK-47 and bullet proof vest from dark website. And they also can do own land mine like using gas tank and buried it on ground when a group of sars coming through on it and its explode hooray and they secretly need build a workshop that create gun powder and create small nuclear generator to make little bit of nuclear weapons.
@Jesco Nevada except when they kill anybody like in many other countries, the problem is education, people in power and oppression, is like somebody saying that it was not nazis fault but jewish culture or some bs like that, it just doesn't make sense, hate and violence should never be excused
@Elgin Wells Network You either didn’t listen or are impressively dim. It’s not a crime to dress nice or have an iPhone. Y’all really shouldn’t generalize so awfully, it really makes all white guys look dense as fuq. The US really should invest more in education & removing lead exposure.
Lord Father in Heaven, your people need your intervention. years upon years of suffering, pain and slavery, we can't take it no more in this wicked world.
“Praise Jesus! I was going to say the same thing!” LOL. Your Texas accent is absolutely spot on. I’m sure your Nigerian is too but I’ve lived in Texas and you nailed it!
Okay, so this is irrelevant to the situation, but both of the people they interviewed for this piece had beautiful voices. Okay, clearly Nigeria is full of people with beautiful voices.
Beautiful voices and other wonderful talents is what Nigerian leaders want to silence because it sounds like nagging to them 😩 Nigerian leaders prefer to loot till their last breath than actually protect their citizens.
Just before the arab spring, I visited Cairo. I was terrified of Muslim men. Though a leftist, I didn’t understand my bigotry. A couple years later,, in Myanmar, I realized the worry of the threat of North America dominance in South East Asia. This runs deep, and our information sources are important.
Yeah, I started watching when Current TV, which had some awesome programming itself, became Al Jazeera, and have always found it to be one of the most factual, comprehensive, and unbiased news agency out there. I also really enjoy Vice's RU-vid channel, and shows on HBO, but they're not as "up to the minute", and more ongoing stories. I don't view our press as "the enemy of the people", I just wish they(mainly TV news) weren't as sensationalized, and willing to actually hold people's feet to the flames, and ask the tough questions, like I see a lot of foreign press do in their countries. Just grateful I have access to the Internet, so I can find multiple sources, including "The Daily Show", "Last Week Tonight", and "Full Frontal". Comedy or not, it's some damn good reporting.

"Hello. My name is Ronald Crump. This is my wife Helania. My sons Ron Jr. and Tarron, and daughter Ilanka." "And what about that guy following you? He says his name is Eric, but you can call him whatever you want," "Never seen him before."
I have to say the Nigerians I've met were maybe proud of being Nigerian, but none were the least bit proud of Nigeria as a state or the government... One of them said "if they'd just picked ONE issue to fix every ten years since independence... like one decade the roads, next decade electricity, etc, we'd be in a pretty good place right now".
yeah..., key phrase "since independence". Nigeria was owned, by another country. Imagine if the US were owned by another country. Or to put it differently, imagine what life was like in the US, 80 years after it gained independence from English rule.
