Night Cat sent me their Ultralight 1 Person Trekking Pole Tent to test out, so I took it up a stunning hill in the South Wales Valleys to see what it's like.
You can find full details of the tent on Night Cat's website: nightcat.com/products/night-c...
If you want to support the channel, please drop the video a like and subscribe, it really helps.
If you want to say thanks for any of my content you can always buy me a coffee - I don't actually drink coffee so any money received would be spent on used camping gear and the odd can of own-brand energy drink.

Love mine. Great weight and space. Camped out at 2800m in Vietnam. Nearby thunder and lightning. I got hit with high winds and lashing rain overnight. Tent was perfect. Just back from the west highland way where the weight and size makes it a pleasure to carry. Probably a bit breezy inside for winter camping in Scotland though.

Yeah, it's definitely a keeper. Would be ideal to get a four season inner for it as well. I'll hopefully be using mine more over the summer.

As an old boy on a budget this tent is currently top of my "wish" list. Cuurrently watching every youtube vid I can find before parting with my hard earned! Good review and video, thank you.

It's a good little tent, you might well find it used and offering even better value. Maybe a Black Friday sale will knock some more money off as well.

Usually I hate one man tents but I like this one a lot. Beautiful night filming, perfect choice of music for it too. Thoroughly enjoyed the video, thanks Kev.

Thanks Annie. It was after I put a big sleeping mat and my bag in the tent that I realised just how much space there was! Made it easy to pack away in the dry. I've got the camping video coming out soon, shows off the views and the walk. It was a cracking little walk and the views show off the best of South Wales.

Nice. I'm assuming that's basically the Lanshan 2? I'm really impressed with this tent, a lot more spacious than I expected.

Great video I have had the Nightcat for over a 18 month now and completed many 3,5, and 7 day hikes in the UK and Ireland in all types of 3 season weather without issue. I have made some small mods to increase my confidence in the tent . I changed out the pegs to longer ones as I often camp in boggy ground in Ireland I also replaced the rams horns fastening at the front with a small £1 carabiner after being in a strong wind I had concerns it would snap. Great tent would highly recommend it for those on a budget
@TheWalkingKev

Thanks, sounds like some cheap and easy mods. I always carry a spare carabiner in case the rams horns failed and I've got better pegs if I felt the conditions needed them. I'm hoping to use this on some longer hikes this year. The space for the weight is fantastic.

That should be handy for longer walks, like you say. Not much bigger than a bivvy bag to carry, but all that room inside 👍

*_Hello Kev... I like the ultralight tent, with a capacity of 1 person, especially camping in the open, this tent is highly recommended, it can withstand storms, just one pole in the middle using a trekking pole.... Greetings from Indonesia..._*👣⛰🏕💯👌👍

Good video/tent test Kev, really good night photography too! 👍🏻 I have had my ‘Lanshan-1 Plus’ for a year now and still really enjoy using it, looks a very similar colour to this NightCat version.. although mine luckily came with the 4-Season inner and T-Zip door - which makes it not only a lot warmer, but also much more versatile being able to open the whole front of it up. I’ve made a few mods (as per usual) to mine, one being to separate the the guy door system, and to have it on a separate bungee which means I can get it lower to the ground, with far less of a huge ugly gaping gap at the front… the other mod I did was to put an extra guy on the hanging loop at the top, which I use to brace the rear of the tent should the wind change in the night! I also use my spare trekking pole to horizontally pull out the head-end guy, which really helps keep the inner off your face while laying on your sleeping pad. I did have to do a little seam sealing on mine on the 3 guy-out points, not sure if it will be the same on this version, but it’s something you should to be aware of just in case.. I’ve had my one out in measured 35 mph winds and it stood up to it just fine. Glad you like your new lightweight trekking pole shelter anyway. 🙌🏻

Thanks for posting and sharing details of a new trekking pole tent. Not a bad weight but as you'll appreciate, not as solid as other similar weight tents. Single pole tents always struggle in higher winds but great to see what's available.

Interesting Kev 👍Spoke to a few campers with different types of Night Cat tents . They were happy with the quality for the price, i was put off by the stand out Cat logo's , but it looks like they have subdued the brightness ❤

Yes, I think the logos are a lot more understated now. Certainly feels well made and good attention to detail. Time will tell how well it holds up.

Good review, I have this tent and it’s great! My only criticism is that you didn’t correctly insert your trekking pole, the needle point of your pole inserts into the eyelet not the yellow paracord. 😊

Not bad at all but yes a solid inner option is really needed. To be honest for multi-day trips I’ve stuck with my Vango F10 Nitro Lite 200 at 1.4kgs it’s a full size 2 man tunnel with porch. For the sake of 400g it’s too good not to take. I have titanium pegs from Goshawk. For shoulder seasons I use a thicker pole set and footprint but it’s still only 1.8 kg
@TheWalkingKev
@TheWalkingKev 8 месяцев назад
Nice. I've got a Vango Helium tent around that weight that I need to use soon. Should be a decent option for 3 season use as long as weather isn't too rough.

@@TheWalkingKev To be honest I agree it’s built like a brick s**thouse as the saying goes. Such thick material I feel it can take quite a weather battering if it’s pegged out well.
