David Sanborn was a superlative musician, who carried on the tradition of great American music, and a warm, witty, host of a truly great tv show. He will certainly be missed. Thank you, David!!!
I know Im asking randomly but does someone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I love any tips you can offer me.
@Phoenix Abram Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and Im in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
DIZZY, Diane, David & Onaje! Love it when 3 generations of jazz legends got together and jam on a tv show. The memories, you can't ever get them back. Those who were there back then are gone today. Thank you for achieving it to RU-vid. 🥲🥲
@ crosscurrentjazz. I appreciate so much that you included my name as one of the guests on this great show along side Dizzy, Dianne and David. Peace - Onaje Allan Gumbs
From a man who's not set foot in a church in decades ... OH MAH GAWD ! That duet. O. M. G. Drop the mic, burn it down, no need to sing no mo, they KILLED IT !
Thanks you SO much for putting together a collection of the Night Music videos. I enjoyed this show more than any music shows ever and am TOTALLY enjoying revisiting these.
thanks crosscurrentjazzz merci alle shows so etwas gibt es nicht mehr.oder doch merci an sanborn en holland grossartige musik in jeder sendung.great!!!!!!
Mr. John Birks Gillespie was one of the giants of jazz for a reason - so good to see him perform on this! Like all of the greats of the golden age of jazz, he's gone beyond, to play in The Deity's big band (except for Sonny Rollins, who's still with us).
SO many people get called "stars" these days but none of them can even come close to the men and women on this show, I honestly cant thing of any better show for real music and talent than this one, and until yesterday I have not even heard of it, Jools Holland has his own show in the UK and I thought it was the best but no no no, THIS is special
This Show was way ahead of its time the interlocking of artists from different backgrounds was exciting in particularly ( D. Reeves & D.Peaston) what killed it was changing sponsors & times lot & thee younger generations which is still not supporting this kind of music today which so sad.SOLID!!!!
At the time, jazz was changing. It was great to see those great musicians of the past perform with other greats of the day. It was rare for even that time to see jazz greats perform on TV. They had their chance and made the best of it.
Best Ever Music Showcase on American Television. All of my favorite MUSICOLOGISTS on the scene: David Sanborn; Marcus Miller; Hiram Bullock; Omar Hakim; Onajie Allan Gumbs; Dianne Reeves; Dizzy Gillespie, etc.
I’m so happy have found Night Music on RU-vid. Can anyone point me to Adrian Belew’s video with his daughter, doing “Oh, daddy daddy”. I saw him perform it here, but I can’t find it. That’s the most adorable that was ever on Night Music
Thank you SO MUCH for uploading the Night Music episodes!!!! This has one of my favorite versions of Tin Tin Deo on it :-) Dizzy and David just kill it!!!
This is one of the few Night Music episodes I caught when it was on, and first of all I love Dizzy Gillespie and it is great to see him in this episode. What I further recall is that Limey jerk who obviously rubbed Dizzy the wrong way, evidenced by Dizzy calling him "John Bull!!".
By that limey jerk are you talking about Jules?, he is incredibly respected all of the the world and Dizzy liked him and was on his other show "Later" many times. Limey? you silly fucker
What is bizarre about this show? It was a music show. It maybe bizarre seeing people playing music with instruments these days. That's how you make music in those days. They did it well. People will play good money to do into clubs to watch these musicians & singers preform live.
