I was in the second row on the aisle that magical night. As amazing as this production was, it was the after party at the New York Hilton that was truly overwhelming. Only the first 10 rows of the orchestra were included in the party. The rest were all the stars. We walked up Avenue of the Americas together from Radio City on a curb to curb red carpet that stretched six blocks. I had Grace Kelly on my right and Paul Newman on my left. The final count of participating celebrities wasn't 100 as was the goal, it soared to over 250 after Elizabeth Taylor and Princess Grace confirmed their attendance.
Jay VanVechten question for you, where was Bob Fosse? He is in the opening credits but I didn't see him anywhere? I love seeing everyone in here but Fosse is one of my favs.
This proves that the all around performer - dancer, actor, singer - is rare these days. None of the TV reality people in the 21st century have any of this and that is most TV. There are, as usual, plenty of good actors out there, but where are the true entertainers who sing, act, and dance. Only one immediately comes to mind - Hugh Jackman. Because his background is musical theater. The Spencer Pratts of today do NOTHING but mug the camera. I call for new entertainers who do everything!
