Night of the Living Dead is a zombie horror media franchise created by George A. Romero beginning with the 1968 film Night of the Living Dead, directed by Romero and cowritten with John A. Russo. The franchise predominantly centers on different groups of people attempting to survive during the outbreak and evolution of a zombie apocalypse. The latest installment of the series, Survival of the Dead, was released in 2009, with a sequel, Twilight of the Dead, in development. This would be the first film in the series not directed by George Romero, who died on July 16, 2017.

It kills me that there isn't a deluxe 4K release of one of the greatest horror films of all-time. There's a fancy German box, but the title is in German on the box. Also, kind of a shame that this doesn't have HDR or Dolby Vision. Other than that though it's a very decent transfer.

It deserves the treatment that Second Sight did for Dawn. I’ve looked at some of the German Steelbooks they are very nice indeed. That’s Criterion for you! They do a good decent release but normally nothing overall fancy.

A third party box may be the way to go for Night of the Living Dead. I recently did that for Alien + Aliens for example. Let’s hope that if Day of the Dead ever does happen in 4K that Second Sight get the rights… or failing that Arrow or Vinegar Syndrome.
