Night Ranger is 1 of the greatest underrated bands of the 80,s Jack Blades could rerelease all the songs now and they would be better than the shit now
I think it's so cool to see a drummer doing lead vocals, these guy's have so much cool music, and still sounding just as good looking forward to the new album 2021
Great song that never really got its due. I know I can identify with loving something so much I just turned and walked away in the name of true love. I wonder every day what she's doing now, and I hope that she has had a truly happy life in the last two decades. I'm going to go see these guys here in about a month, and I can't wait.I just hope they play this song to help remind me of all of those endless summer days when freedom and innocence mattered most. The only girl I've ever really loved.
Dude this BAND is the SHIT!!! Never been more surprised by an 80's band. Sure you've heard of Motley, Guns, and Def, but WHY ISN"T NIGHT RANGER ON THAT LEVEL!I don't get it AT ALL!
Been a fan of these guy’s from day 1 and i do have to say that they never got into that drug shit like g&r and poison and all those other’s did and stayed true to their music and fans, never let fame go to their heads and they’re still out here kicking ass like they’re still in their 20’s.✌️
Night Ranger for some reason hates this song. I think part of it is that they did not write it. But a good song is a good song. I think this song and Restless Kind were the most radio friendly songs on this album. They did not get it. They soon broke up.
7. I Did It For Love 6. Man In Motion 5. 7 Wishes 4. You Can Still Rock In America 3. Don't Tell Me You Love Me 2. When You Close Your Eyes 1. Sister Christian
@flabeachcomber Let's just be honest. Night Ranger is The Beatles of the 1980's. They were plagued by management issues and radio air play charts. When the bad boy rock was heating up in 1987, Night Ranger's management forced them into releasing Big Life without any hard rock songs for radio singles. They did the same for 7 Wishes and just got lucky because Goodbye and Sentimental Street are some of the best ballads of all time.
The Big Life album had a couple of heavy rockers -- the title track, which they resurrected a couple years ago, plus Carry On is pretty raucous. But yes, their label was always putting forth the ballads, which eroded their cred with some metal-heads. But look at NR today -- they've embraced ballads and still get some heavy slabs of guitar!
Man in Motion deserved better. I was the only one in my circle into them, even the Journey fans thought they were too soft. Problem is almost every ballad they ever did was made a single, at the behest of the label (allegedly) who wanted to repeat the success of Sister Christian. All the good rock songs are the album cuts:) They deserved better Rangerbros. Also James Brown and Oliver North.
I am the guy at 2.18 in the video with the long hair hitting on a hot chick, this was shoot at Charles Mansons old ranch in the desert and it was a blast doing it
man In Motion was one of their best albums but this song as lead single would not have been my choice. This was the weakest song on the album and I feel the 1st song should have been a harder rock song to get the airplay on AOR stations 1st. That would have created sales for the album as they needed something to make the fans who thought Big Life was bragging about all their money when most of their fans were working for 3 something an hour back then. That is where I think Night Ranger lost some of their base. Imagine, take Big Life song off the record and all of a sudden it is a great album but that one song destroys all of their work and it carried on to their next album. I am just being honest cause I wasn't happy with Big Life until the early 90's and if wasn't for in 1988 Camelot Music was playing Man in Motion in the strore, I would have never bought it. Don't Start Thinking and Half Way to The Sun is what made me buy that album that day.
It's MCA's fault. They were doing the same thing to Triumph, making them use other people's songs when they had Rik Emmett as a songwriter. The same thing went for NR, which was an insult to Jack and Kelly. Both bands would break up partly because of MCA's mishandling. Big Life was a very mature album, though I think what hurt them with some fans actually was "Secret of My Success." I can't speak for all fans, but some of guys who loved their first three albums thought doing a Michael J. Fox soundtrack was going too commercial. Big Life still went gold, but stalled below platinum. I remember Jack posting an editorial in one music magazine about how fans were misunderstanding them due to the changes in radio. Everything was going to CHR (Top-40) and the old AOR stations were dying. So, in order to get album sales, they had to do ballads like "I Did It For Love." Couldn't save "Man In Motion," even though it had several good songs like the ones you mentioned. I remember learning to play bass and sing like Jack in those days!
@@The_Rockin_Prof Big Life is a great album though. So many underrated tunes that don't get talked about, such as Rain Comes Crashing Down, Carry On, Color Of Your Smile, the title track, and Love Is Standing Near. Underrated album from 87, a year that was filled with amazing albums.
