Yes. It was an easy going time. Today everything seems to be heavyweight and complicated. When the truth is much easier. It's the hopelessness of today that makes people believe "humans can't change" when in the 80s it wasn't even a problem to show naked female breasts etc. but of course it was way more. In the 80s "change" was "just done". People took more risks. But nowadays with the internet Asa living space, we mostly feel lonely and little. That's why "identifying" has become so relevant today. We're feeling so little, hopeless and lonely that we're not long capable of changing. There are people, but those people earn "good enough" money and spoil their kids for that. So they are able to change but do it the wrong way for their kids because they're at work and the kids in the hands of pedagogical treatment or however you call that in English. Back then...there was the mind of "just do it" Today we're more like "is anybody hurt if I do that?" AND of course... "we need to talk about it" No, we really done talking enough I'd say. Time to come back to a state of mind that was just full of "getting shit done, and that being said...properly!" Yes, I think that's the big bit actually very easy differences between the 80s and 2010s and 2020s and so will be 2030s...which might become even worse. We're on a good way there. Just have a look at Hollywood. Or at the democracy of the USA. It's declining fast. Maybe a new massive form of decadence. Who knows...maybe it's the other very imminent thing "ideology". Cheers PS: I looooove 80s movies and soundtracks. They are always lifting you up just like some fantastic weed never could. Gets you out of the darkest mood and I am sure....it also would help you get rid of any depression. You can't hold it back, the need to dance and/or sing sets in and kicks you in the face. And before you even realize what you're doing - you're exhausted from dancing and singing too much.
This video sums up the 80's perfectly. Where else would you find Tommy Lee & Vince Neil of Motley Crue in a video with Weird Al Yankovic? Only if you were there would you understand how great this decade was.
I know this comment is from 5 years ago...but I'd give my left nut to go and experience the 80's...awesome music, awesome movies, and hot babes and cars.
Do you have an actual source for this "fact"? Although places like Wikipedia mention it, they have no sources at all. Most other music sites do the same. I am slightly skeptical of that story for a few reasons.
@@smartasianfriend9940 I have no evidence to the veracity of the story, but it's one I have no real problem believing. Michael was a known hard-rock fan and certainly had the connections and star power by then to personally request them. Are the reasons for your doubt anything you can say in public?
I was born in 1988. I always thought I was weird for really liking just 80s music through my teens. I’ve just heard this song for the first time, and it reminds me why I love 80s music: because it’s so goddamn awesome!!!
I wasn't around in the 80s but it does seem to me like songs are so dark now. But everytime a happy or peppy song comes out it becomes super popular so why dont they make more. Maybe the world is just a darker place than it used to be?
1987 was a damn good year: I graduated from Westside High School in Anderson, SC, and , Enlisted in The Marine Corps ( eventually cross decking on over to the Army). This song ,and the movie with Michael J. 🦊, brings back memories of what once was.
Nothing like Chicago. It’s a hard driving rock album with huge sounding twin guitars and crazy solos. It’s a fantastic album. It also went gold by the way so hardly a flop
Robert Fincher Modern singers can’t pronounce their words like these old legends could, and they don’t know how to write fun lyrics either. For some reason, depression, anger and songs about Nightclubs are still reigning supreme since the mid 90s.
Unfortunately, people like Simon Cowell, wanted their brand of boring, safe and bland music to rule. And why? So they can control, and make money. Now you have X Factor in every country, and Cowell controls the rights and he's rich.
In a time when the music wasn't "inspired" by the movie. I like the fact that whenever I hear this song it automatically triggers a clear memory of the movie.
SXI96 Never a doubt in mind that I wasn't correct....lol. I do agree that the whole late 80's music scene was fondue-d with cheesy songs and videos. Hard to believe the 80's started with classic punk rock and iconic new wave bands and ended with overly tight spandex and hairspray.
Considering this was filmed back in the late 80s, when computer technology wasn't what it is today, I'm extremely impressed with how seemless the transitions are between the different filmed portions of the video. Bearing in mind this was probably shot on film stock in those pre-digital days, this also must have been rather costly to produce. Remember seeing the video on some show on BBC2 that used to play a lot of American music, sadly this song was never a hit over here in the UK, which was a pity as I rather enjoyed it.
This song shouldve been an oscar nominee it shouldve been in competiton with 'I've Had The Time Of My Life from Dirty Dancing at the 60th academy awards in 1988 honoring the best movies of 1987
Think of it, I, hold the world in the palm of my hand Run a comb through my hair, head on out for some new foreign land And all this could seem like a dream out the door With everyday people, face down on the floor I always said I could make it and be who I am There's a new look in sight, what a change for the new modern man With all this it seems, like I'm dying for more The streets are on fire, never seen it before It's like the sound of electric guitars Worlds collide and hearts will be broken Over and over it's the same every day- How can I say what has never concerned me The secret of my success is I'm living 25 hours a day It's amazing to me, what a fool will believe to bet by With a change of your mind, I can live, I can fly The harder the come, the harder they fall I never say maybe and I go for it all Just like the sound of electric guitars Worlds collide and hearts will be broken Over and over it's the same every day- How can I say what has never concerned me The secret of my success is I'm living 25 hours a day With nothing to show, just sweat form my soul My heart's on the line and I'm dying to go (dying to go) Look at us now, gonna make it somehow Hold on to me baby, can't hold me down Worlds collide and hearts will be broken Over and over it's the same every day- How can I say what has never concerned me The secret of my success is I'm living 25 hours a day The secret of my success is I'm living 25 hours a day 25 hours a day
This song is dedicated to Katherine Helmond, one of the most gorgeous, talented, classy and charismatic Hollywood goddesses ever. Rest in peace, Dear Katherine. Amen.🤩😍😘🥰
I can remember being like 6 or 7 when i saw this movie in the theater. This song is in the opening, it was one of the things that hooked me quick. Still love this sound with the horns and synths.
Love the song. Love the film. Okay, i know it's cheesy eighties kitsch, but I don't care. There was something that was so positive about that period, as there is something in general positive about the good old US of A. I'm English.
Wonderful song by Night Ranger that always remind me of the extremely Drop Dead Gorgeous and stunning american actress from Hollywood and the worldest cinema Katherine Helmond. Rest in heavenly peace, Dearest Katherine. Amen.❤️🔥
Growing up this sing and movie we’re one of my faves! The song fit so well I never listened to it beyond the movie and I never thought to see who the artist was…I’m floored it was Night Ranger! Wow!
Can't believe not many have listened to this song because it's awesome plus the film with mj fox was great but then again any film with mj fox in it was great any way 🤘🤘🤘
@@stevem2323 We were young back then and i had my school years behind me so freedom at last, and i had an entire life before me, so the world was mine and time was still on my side. Now i'm almost 55 and have slowly to think about retirement because that is only 10 years away, when i make it and not some shit dissease will kill me first. Life is waaaaaay too short alright!
@@3DPeter Definitely, but we weren't slaves of technology and we didn't had this fucking PC SJW woke crazies triggering about everything and canceling left and right, destroying everything worth living in their path.
