I just did mine, i didnt realize how much darker it would actually make things. If you're at max gain already - you are gunna have a bad time. The focus it gives is pretty cool tho ngl.
Just wanted to say not all those 37mm iris things are built the same. i bought one on amazon and it rattled and shined. im sure other people sell good ones but the one from excalibor on ebay has been good to me. ive bought two now.
Can you provide a link for the ocular cover? I have the iris with sacrificial glass but the ocular is not so apparent when shopping around. Great video though thanks
Are you referring to just the opaque cap for the ocular lens? You can probably find a cheap one on eBay that'll work just fine for protecting your lenses during storage and transport. www.ebay.com/itm/225580139279?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=d_aoJ_jYRWC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=jqFRNzPoSVW&var=524755182673&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Whats the impact rating on those sacr for the iris? Will it resist to a bb impact of 500 plus fps? Also whats the front size increase after installing this (from the lenses to the end of the "tarsier eclipse"). Since i use an ecoti device i need to know if i have space enough. Thanks
Is there any options for protecting the viewing side lens? I feel like I have seen just little plastic covers that clip in before but I can’t find them, maybe I just don’t know what they are called. Good tip on that nvinc cover because I was waiting for the Wilcox version to come back in stock without knowing it was discontinued
Like protecting the ocular lens? Yeah. Both lenses have the same thread pitch so any sacrificial lens that threads onto the objective lens will thread onto the ocular lens (if you have a milspec housing)
Sorry I’m bad with the terminology. So both the lens that is on the “eye” side of the device and the outer side as seen in the video are the same? That is exactly the type of info I needed, thanks man much appreciated.
terminology for those that are unfamiliar: Ocular lense, is the glass closest to your eye that your look through. Objective lense: the glass on the other end of the device, closest to the object your viewing.
I purchased a set of Tarsiers, they were expensive but I like the quality. I did waste money on the Purple Filters, I have WP GEN3 Duals and the Purple Filters do nothing, they actual dim the image down to be Black & White, I didnt like them and removed them, they were designed to install on Green Tubes.
You can use the red filters on either white or green. Probably looks better on WP, as on GP it will give you a much more saturated red that will look a bit darker, so you lose a bit of perceived detail.
I could be wrong but I was under the impression that 31's/BNVDs don't have external threads on the objective lenses at all. If yours do, I'm not sure what thread pitch they would be. You may need to reach out to the retailer you bought your nods from. They'd be able to give you clear-cut answer on that 👍
