I totally agree Tyrone but to be fair this is a decent stab at it, I like that Hansard but he's no Luke Kelly Luke was and always will be my favourites Balladeer
It was fitting they sang this at this event. After all, it was the last song Luke ever sang in public, three months before he passed. Makes it that much more poignant.
Because of this I find it a very sad but brilliant song. Only stumbled on the Dubliners a few year back,Luke had such energy and talent I’ve never seen anyone like him.
The other thought I have had is: this must have been a bittersweet moment for John. They are honouring his friend and band mate, but he is still gone, and gone in such a bad way (brain cancer, for those who don't know.) 😥

@@robinhood480 I'll be scorned for this ; ,however my opinion is that any socialist ,which kelly was,would spurn the so called honour of a statue in his memory, I flinched at Connollys statue for the same reason,we do what we can for our beliefs and reject petty (petite) bourgeois wank
Yes the if the scum who vandalized luks statue is of Irish stock Shame to him and his whole kin . Have they not been passed down the takes and culture of their own people.
