Pine Barrens. This encompassing over 1.1 million acres woodlands in NJ and the most haunted forest in USA is surrounded by a shroud of creepy legends.
Jersey Devil, Black Dog, a small dead boy searching his killer, the Ghost of Dr. James Still, and other are still alive in minds of the locals.
However, many believe that characters of these legends are real inhabitants of Pine Barrens and you have a real chance to expect a creepy encounter during a night walk in the woods.
Would like to hope that a night walk in the woods is the best time to meet Jersey Devil or other creepy creatures.
This night I'm going to explore a few miles of the forest. Anxious expectations

That was a long day. Before the night exploration I visited some spots supposed to be interested.
00:00 Intro
00:52 Brief description of Pine Barrens forest
02:20 Hampton Furnace (built circa in 1795 and was in operation until about 1850)
03:49 Emilio Carranza Crash Monument
04:32 Night walk in Pine Barrens forest
20:50 P.S. Some of the constellations I captured that night.
---------------------------
I search and explore alone ghost towns, historic, abandoned, haunted places in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. My explorations are based on local creepy legends and old maps research and aimed to discover something new in urban exploring.

Pretty cool video. Reminds me of many of my night walks and overnights in the Barrens back in the late 70's and early 80's . Hate that graffiti stuff on the ruins though. Saw none of that when I roamed there.

@@walkingcam1 The pines aren't as tame as many would like to believe. There are many wild animals in increasing numbers that are capable of giving people a bad moment. You can also stumble upon people that are living off the radar who would rather not be detected. Going into the pines alone can be a good idea until it's not. Especially at night all lit up.

I love the Pine Barrens was just in there on Mount Misery road the other day. Have you noticed this about those woods, that there's no deer's or wildlife especially when you go into the deeper parts? Also at night it's super quiet no bugs or animals. I believe there is definitely something back there, I've heard and seen strange things back there.
@walkingcam1

At the beginning when you were walking past stone ruins, that looked like the Hampton Furnace cranberry farm ruins. I have lived in the pine barrens near Batsto for almost 40 years and have never experienced anything scary or creepy. A couple times in the 80s I got my truck stuck way out in the woods at like 10 pm, and walked out for many hours without a flashlight. There was nothing scary. At the end that's not actually a log cabin. The exterior walls are covered with "slabs", which is what you get when the round parts of a log are cut off in the sawmill. It wasn't that long ago when that house was still lived in.
@walkingcam1
@walkingcam1 Месяц назад
Hi! Yes, it was Hampton Furnace. When i came across i didn't know what this place called. Agree about nothing scary. The worst thing there, i believe, is tons of deer ticks. After any every hike thru the Barrens i catch a dozen sneaking on me. That timber house is located in Atsion vicinity. Not sue if it's still owned, but i decided not to break in the door to film interior.

i have been going in these woods my hole life at night during the day with groups and by myself and to this day the only thing that i worry about are the cops and park rangers

I’m pretty sure the state parks are dawn to dusk only and the only bad experiences I have ever had involved cops I think because they are in the woods alone they get scared

@walkingcam1
@walkingcam1 2 года назад
Hello neighbor ! What i found in WiKi when was making the research: "The Black Dog is a ghostly creature said to roam the beaches and forests from Absecon Island to Barnegat Bay. In most folklore (such as English and Germanic folklore), black dog ghost are malevolent or considered forces of evil. However, the Black Dog of the Pine Barrens is often considered a harmless spirit. According to folklore, pirates on Absecon Island attacked a ship and killed its crew. Among those killed were the cabin boy and his black dog"
