Due to a recent burglary to one of their neighbours the customer decided to upgrade their locks to a higher security level. We recommended the ERA High Security British Standard Nightlatch. Hi, could you tell me how to affix the lock body back onto the mounting plate? There are two small hooked parts at the rear of the plate that I can't seem to get the lock body over. Thanks. (For an ERA nightlatch).

Hi, you have to make sure the hooks and the tail are aligned and the tail goes into the slot on lockcase. I hope that helps.

@@yourlondonlocksmith1697 Thanks. After fiddling about with it for a while I managed to align the flat latch pin with the socket on the body by using a rubber band which I could snap out just before the two components merged.

What happens when you need to replace front rim cylinder? The keyhole on the interior no longer matches new keys?

That's correct unless you have the rim cylinder keyed alike to the latch key. - Which is simple enough for a locksmith with an ERA pinning kit... Good point tho.

Your London Locksmith Look at Dr. Lock. I understand you want to protect the job, of course. But in the meantime you find really everything on internet. We need more than filming an old lock and then a new lock. Otherwise you better put photos on the net, less work.

That high security lock would kick in as easily as a standard lock without a London bar. it's never the lock that breaks, but the wood that splinters

I wouldn’t say as easily but I agree most time the wood will break before the lock does.

@@yourlondonlocksmith1697 What I did is replaced the screws that came with my night latch with 3 inch screws on the strike place part - that reinforces the plate into the stud, whereas the standard screws just attach the plate to the jamb - combined with a london bar it's probably 10 times the resistance at least... i had to think of something (after 2 burglaries)
