(Posted by Ray Glasser.) Here is another "Cleveland Tech Report" that I produced for Kerry Decker's "NightLife" cable-TV show that he produced and aired in the 1980s. This report is about organizing your video library....showing how I label and number my videotapes, plus how some people organize their library lists. Back in the 1970s and 80s, many many people swapped and traded tapes with other collectors, and publishing an updated library list was an important part of that! Remember, this was all before DVDs came on the scene, which happened in the late 90s. This show was produced in 1985.

This is frankly fascinating, given that I started consuming media in the digital age, watching this excellent example of physical media management is mind-bending. Thanks for uploading.

I love organizing my VHS and Betamax in my collection, and I am moving to a new room to get myself organized.

Wow, thank God technology revolves! Hate to be stuck with this kind of movie collection. Watching movies in 4K on a 75 inch television is leaps beyond what anybody could imagine back in those days! Just wonder what the next 40 years will bring :)

@snake2006 First of all, the last Betamax was made in 1993, not in the mid 80s. And blank Beta tapes are STILL available - and there are always Beta machine available on eBay!

Betamax did died out by 2015 and so does VHS the next year in 2016. Thankfully I got my first Betamax tapes to be joining in my collection.

to be honest, I nearly puked when I seen that Ampex 60 tape with Starlost. I just keep having bad experiences with Ampex open-reel and cassette tape
