Timed myself last night and it only took me 12 minutes! 1. Dishes. 2. Tidy. 3. Clean. 4. Scrub Sink. 5. Take out trash. Kitchen is closed!! Leave a comment and a like to show Samson your love😄 Thanks for watching xoxoxo
Of course I love love sweet Samson!!! Would love to cuddle with him!! Your kitchen looks so Boho!! Love your new floors!! Your friend and fan Shane from Middle Tennessee 💕💕💕
Since I was a child (living in a research ship with my family) we were taught that everything you use has to be cleaned and prepared for the next person. Everything in it’s place and a place for everything!
Loved the video Carla! You have a beautiful home! I also recently started “closing the kitchen” at night, as well as the rest of my apartment. My husband recently switched to the night shift and as silly as it may sound, I feel that cleaning and organizing my space has helped me to “cope” with being alone some nights. So refreshing to wake up to a clean space! ✨
Kudos to you on the kitchen reset habit building! I wanted to comment that the plant looks SOOO GOOD in the corner. It's beautiful, it balances the room, and is so sophisticated!
Let’s hear it for the senior schedule! I’ve been using your saying ‘kitchen closed’ and I like to be done early enough to relax in the evening. I might introduce actual sink scrubbing this evening. With only 2 of us it never gets bad but it looks fun.
👵🏾it was actually fun hahha!! getting a new product motivates me to clean. nice little ritual and same ...i like my nights to be free from any cleaning 💕
Another great video! 🤗The only thing I would change is I would soak the dishes in hot soapy water while I did everything else and wiped down the surfaces etc. then wash, dry and put them away last. This makes washing go so much faster!
Nice routine 👍 For the first time in weeks I finally cleaned my entire apartment on the weekend and I’m trying to keep it clean now and put everything where it belongs right away. It’s day 3 and it still looks really good. We’ll see how it goes. I can’t bring myself to clean the kitchen in the evening though. I clean it in the morning while drinking coffee and the okay for me, because I come home to a nice and clean kitchen 😊
I totally relate to counting the days of how long I can keep things tidy!! Putting everything back is key. Still finding homes for my things and still have more to declutter. 😊😊
I love how every week I click on your new video I see you getting sustainable growth on your channel! You are so inspiring 🥰🥰🥰 I always forget to do the fridge check 😅 thanks for the reminder lol
The stare down with the dirty dishes cracked me up🤣So good how you keep up with everything ! You are great Carla👏🤗 Doing dishes is my least favorite task but somehow kitchen gloves make the experience kind of OK? There are even a few environmental friendly options available. I just hang them inside the cabinet under the sink with a commando hook🤗
hahahah so glad you liked the dishes stare down!! i'll have to give gloves a try...i'm now also hearing of these reusable paper towels that are not the same as cloth/towels. love the environmentally friendly stuff! 😊💕
Samson said no thank you, no dishes for me. 😂 Nice clean up and reset! It is always nice to return to a fresh, cleaned area. I have a white cast iron kitchen sink. It does not get scrubbed daily, but probably a few times a week. Oh…and a few years ago I discovered my love of Swedish dish cloths. It’s not really a cloth, and not really a sponge. They are great for liquid spills and counter cleaning and dishwashing, etc. I’m sure Thrive probably sells them.
Microfiber cloths for the win! I only use them because they are reusable..I have different colors for different tasks. Love your videos! Thanks for all your hard work in putting them together!
I just scrub the sink with my dish sponge and soap every night after doing dishes, then rinse it all off. Every once and a while, I’ll do a proper sink scrub with vinegar, baking soda, the works. Love this!
Excellent upload, Carla! I've been on an Evening Routine (as with a Morning Routine which I shared with you previously) for many years now; primarily because I have a serious OCD problem 🤣 and just cannot with untidiness in my home, but it's also for the reasons you've stated: waking up to a clean space. 1). I don't cook nearly as often as you, so I tend to have a cleaned and tidy kitchen all the time; 2). When I do venture inside my kitchen to cook, am typically a "ONE POT" cook; and I usually clean, re-home, and wipe off/down items as I go. In fact, the kitchen is usually all clean and tidy while the meal is still cooking; leaving only the dishes to clean after eating. 3). I also keep things neat and tidy because of the hot desert conditions of the country I live in primarily. Too many days OF NOT tidying up and cleaning your stove, counter tops, dishes, and items touched while cooking will bring hungry insects that can smell your kitchen and your unclean items a mile away 🤣. 4). I like Routines and I'm a big believer in establishing and maintaining goodly habits like these because it eventually means that when done regularly, there really shouldn't be any reason for a big major clean up.
Hi, Carla! Good job with your kitchen and your home as well. You are right, baking soda is a very good scrub for any appliance. Is very gentle and let a wonderful shine in your sink. You definitely should try it once your product is over! And as a final tip, you can also shine it with regular vinegar after scrubing. It works fantastic! A big hug from Spain 🙂
HAHAHAHA! When your pup backs up at the prospect of doing dishes! I find your videos so calming - it's so refreshing amongst so many RU-vidrs who seem to shout and try to make things over the top :)
Came across your videos via my daughter who put me on to you lol, I’ve been on a cleaning frenzy as well as organizing & finally got rid of things that needed letting go of for a long time, I promise it’s been very therapeutic for me & spiritual🧘🏽
I guess I'm old school and just use a soapy sponge to wipe down counters, then rinse it and wipe the soap off and then dry them. ---- I do enjoy scrubbing the sink when I'm done. I watched a cleaning video where this gal used Power Paste with a Scrub Daddy and sometimes a Steel Daddy. We had areas in our shower that I could NOT get cleaned for anything and one in the sink that was there when we bought the house. The Power Paste literally cleaned it with hardly any elbow grease. I was a bit worried whether it would affect me with being sensitive to cleaning products but it didn't AT ALL. I was so excited.----- and lastly OMG Samson, what a character, that had me laughing ... he's trying to become invisible as he backs out of the room. :)
I wipe my countertops with a microfiber cloth and a bit of watered down dish soap. I scrub my sink nightly 90% of the time and even dry it out so it shines. I just cleaned my kitchen in 34 minutes and 16 seconds. Love waking up to a clean kitchen and you’re right; it is a gift!!
What a worthwhile routine! Because that coming into the kitchen first thing in the morning must be so calm and relaxed when this is what you're coming into... Great job, Carla and thanks for sharing. By the way, Samson really DID back up there... I'm sure he loves eating the special food you make for him, but he sure ain't gonna help you clean up after making it! LOL!
I do actually scrub my sink, maybe every second night. But it's not until you start do you realise how often it needs done. I like to end my night with a clean kitchen to kick start the next day. I have to say, it actually does help my MH and mindset 🥰💕
Hey, Carla! I’ve been using baking soda to clean/shine my sink for a few years now. I alternate between just adding some essential oil to it to smell nice or using plain baking soda and using lemon or lime wedges as your scrubber (bonus you can cut them up and freeze them when they are cheap/in season/on sale and just run them under water for a few seconds to thaw!). Definitely love adding a little bit of cinnamon and orange essential oil during the holidays - makes the whole kitchen smell DIVINE! :)
I love your channel! I’m going through a rough break up and I lost of lot of who I was during the relationship. Your channel is super motivating for me to see a women being so independent and themselves. ❤
I've been where you are (broken engagement a couple years ago) and just want to say life is going to only get better and better and better!! Let it surprise you :) Lots of love to you ❤️
I use a cotton dishcloth for washing my dishes as well as wiping the surfaces.. afterward I rinse it well, wring it out practically dry and then hang it over the edge of the sink and voila by morning it is dry and ready to go again.
Hey Carla! You found a woven lamp! Months ago you were talking about trying to find one for your kitchen counter - it looks fantastic! My nighttime kitchen routine is similar. Starts the next day off right. Samson is a hoot - his expressions are a riot! It’s like he is literally speaking. 😂 Love your videos, as always. 🌷
I’m always so happy when you upload! Have you tried Scrub Daddy Power Paste for the sink? It works so well! Also, totally random but I wish there was a The Carla Project x Hey Mary Elizabeth collab! I fell like y’all would make such a good team ☺️
i found it easier to wash dishes at the end of the day. It's too stressful thinking about it all day and it frees up my time. Plus washing dishes and cleaning the kitchen at night stays clean cuz no ones in the kitchen when its bedtime and I get to wake up to a clean kitchen 😁
Hi Carla! I just wanted to thank you. You gave me the courage/motivation to tackle one of my most daunting and hated tasks: cleaning the fridge/defrosting the freezer. I just started your cleaning playlist, let it run (ads included), and just did what I had to do without feeling so drained by it. This video is the one playing when I finished. Thank you for your videos, the job went by much quicker and I felt I wasn't alone in this. Much love to you and Samson!
This is inspiring! I am going to start “closing” my kitchen tonight. 💛 I leave for work at 6:30 am and waking up to a messy kitchen attempting to chug some coffee and throw a lunch together is just a vibe that’s not working for me… and it’s a viscous cycle when I get home 12hrs later and just say ya nah not tonight 😑
I really love your stove. I love old things they were made better and last untill the end of time, when you are in the kitchen the stove always catch my eye.
I clean my sink every night, even if I do nothing else (which I regularly don't). Have done for about 10 years. It really makes a difference for the morning when you don't have do deal with procrastinated yucky dishes, and that the sink is accessible.
I use quite a thin *cloth for cleaning* , so I feel the structure of the surface and reach corners better. And I wipe it in *8-shaped moves* , to not shove the dirt (crumbs, hair, dust etc.) back and forth.. You could *seal* your *tiled countertop* with epoxy-varnish/-lacquer! ☆ ..I would hate all those grooves and joints!! 😩
Beautiful. The results were fab. We tend to clean as we go (with the help of a dishwasher lol). I shine the sink when I can't stand it's gloominess, but I think I'll try for once a week at least now. Samson's reaction when you asked about the dishes!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂👏👏👏👏👏👏 Gold!🌟🌟🌟🌟🎖🎖🎖🎖
This is a great nightly routine and gave me a great idea that I definitely should have thought of on my own but you know how it is when you have a routine you don't really think about alternatives. We typically eat at 630 or so. My son works graveyard and I always end up closing my kitchen late because I don't want to use the hot water up before he gets in the shower. Plus after he is done getting ready I have to wait for the hot water to heat up again. So I end up cleaning my kitchen when I'm really ready to go to bed. Going to change dinner time to 5. Then after dinner close the kitchen down. If anyone uses it they can clean up after themselves or face my wrath 😈. I follow the fly lady system for the most part and the first thing you do it scrub/shine the sink. Honestly there's nothing better than getting up to a clean kitchen. As for what I use, like you I love natural cleaner. When my son was 5 he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and I was told that it was important to give his body fewer things to deal with and getting rid of chemical cleaners was the first step for us. This is what I use for all of my cleaning 1) baking soda 2) vinegar though I hate the smell 3) Dr Bronners soap 4) essential oils Lemon because it smells great but it also is antibacterial and antiviral Tea tree oil because it is good at fighting germs, bacteria and bugs Lavender for fighting virus, bacteria and bugs. It a great flea repellent Rosemary is the same as lavender if you don't like lavender Eucalyptus fights bacteria that causes the flu, staph strep, is antimicrobial, antiseptic, fights mold, mildew, and is antiinflammatory. Orange because it smells great of course but it also helps eat away at bacteria and prevents it from growing back. Peppermint is antibacterial and antifungal but it's great for repelling pests. And it works great on glass. There are many others but these are the ones I use.
I’m the same with cleaning the counter I switch between a sponge and cloth. Samson had the most relatable reaction to washing dishes. I actually just did my dishes, wiped everything down, put things away etc. then I watched your video. I may be guilty of only scrubbing my sink once a week, I wipe it out with hot water and dish soap every time I do the dishes though. That sink is sparkling! I think I’ll try to do this every night because now I don’t feel guilty that I’m watching RU-vid videos with a dirty kitchen lol
Samson definitely said no. 😂 I have to wash dishes before dark or sooner or it doesn't get done. I use a pan of soapy water, rinse, and in a dish strainer. Sometimes I run a cloth across the sink. Most of my cleaning rags are old washcloths. So nice to have a clean kitchen to start the day. Nice clean and tidy.
Miss Carla: Fantastic job!! Your kitchen is so inviting ( as is the rest of your beautiful apartment). I don't know if this will be of benefit to you, so as always, please take this with a grain of salt. One of the first things that I do in the kitchen is to put some hot soapy water into one side of the sink. Then, as I use dishes, I can just plop then in the "bath" to soak if I can't wash them post haste. This speeds up the cleanly process later because nothing has a chance to dry onto the dishes. I hope your burns are healing. Hugs to you and handsome Samson!💚
Have you seen that TT where you use Lysol bleach toilet gel (whatever it's called) in grout lines, let it sit for a few minutes then scrub with a toothbrush? The grout comes out super clean.
such a nice video, enjoyed it to watch andlisten to your voice...yes I clean my kitchen and sink every night as an act of selfcare... I had just an idea that I want to share, you could make the grouting new, using a white grout pen, or just white grout because this is propably cheaper andvery easy to do...it would brighten up your nice kitchen even more 😇
i bought a white grout pen and it wasn't enough to cover all that gunk buuuut i think re grouting it is the way to go. just need to watch a vid and figure out how to do that. thx love!
Hi Carla, if you get clorox clinging bleach gel and run the product on the grout lines on the counter; let it set up 3-5 min. then take a tooth brush run it over the grout it will clean your grout. also you might not even need the tooth brush. go for it, love mom.
Thanks for sharing your time. I use microfiber towels and I clean as I’m cooking, so I only have our dishes from our meals to clean. I use all purpose cleaner, soft scrub & Bar Keepers cleaner. I always enjoy your videos 💕🧞♀️
Oh yeah, dishes, they pile up so quickly all the time. I am greatful for my dishwasher. I live together with my husband and still, that thing fills up so fast. I switch it on every other day or so, depending on my schedule. I finally got to the point, that I don't leave any dishes standing around anymore. Getting up in the morning and knowing, you can start your day in peace is so relaxing. To wipe the surfaces down I prefer a microfibre cloth not the spunge. Unless something is very dirty and needs a scrub. Oh yeah and living in the middle of Europe, lemon is a sign that the sink is fresh. I don't like chlorine very much in the household
theres this event in LA called junk in the trunk. you bring stuff to donate from the trunk of your car and one of the ladies gave me that lamp. it is the cutest. going to change the shade but love the wicker base XO
