There is a very good reason why. If a black cop were to abuse their authority against a white person there is a very high chance that they'd be held accountable/punished severely if the white victim filed a complaint. Therefore they know to be on their best behavior. However, if a white cop were to abuse their authority against a black person there is a very high chance they would be deemed innocent of any wrongdoing against the black person. White police officers realize they can target black people because they will likely get away with it. Judges, jurors, and many non-black ppl will somehow view the cops bad behavior against black victims as justified action.

A level of oversight I would applaud but many would find to be too much government oversight, big government, and really pricey (it would at to a tax burden most people already don't want to and can't support) Certainly the corporations wouldn't lobby to support those costs being assigned to them; it would cut into those record profits they claim while crying poverty as they raise prices.

Actually, it sets a bad precedent to have immigration managed at the state level. SCOTUS giving the green light for the Texas law could lead to 50 different immigration laws in the 50 different states, something that has never been allowed and would lead to chaos. The Texas governor and legislature have* been testing what they can get away with regarding immigrants, e.g. ignoring federal law; enacting a criminally-based solution; and moving persons at the interstate level (e.g. to Florida, then on to Martha's Vineyard). So, I wouldn't be too quick to thank SCOTUS for allowing this to proceed. A "conservative" approach would look more like stopping enactment of a new law that hasn't been tested or used. However, these justices act more like "activist judges" who ignore "established law". It's hardly conservative at all. *edit

I’ve lived / worked in five countries and had to carry some type of ID ( passport)or documentation showing my work permit. I see nothing wrong in having to show my verification to a policeman in a foreign country; for, all countries have problems with illegals. If you’re legal, why be offended?

Long ago, Federal laws mandated POTUS take 1/4 salary. Trump funneled to his kids fake charities. Kept the money in their pockets.
