Ehhh...Just compromise and watch it during November... But seriously, I've always watched it with the Halloween specials (mainly because it was recorded on a Halloween tape). Regardless, it's good for whatever time of year you want, because it's simply a great movie!
I still can't get over the fact that when I was in 5th grade during the Halloween sason I brought a vhs copy of this film to school to play it in class, but was immediately turned down cause most of my classmates didn't like it. The fools....
For me, most of the kids in my class wanted to watch the VHS copy I brought, but the teacher conferred with the principal, who in turn said "No" because it's rated PG. Come on, almost EVERY family film now is PG, bare minimum!
I love this movie, but what makes me love it even more is that it was the inspiration for one of my favorite PS1 games of all time, if not my favorite game as a whole, and that would be MediEvil.
This is why I love Cinemassacre...I feel like you get my life 🤣 I freaked out when I saw you reviewed Alice In Wonderland/Alice Through The Looking Glass (1985). Nobody ever knows wtf I'm talking about when I mention that..I can't even tell you how much I appreciate all the content. It is so relatable and entertaining. Merry Christmas!! :)
I remember being taken to see this in '93. I absolutely loved it. The animation blew my mind because up until then my only experience with stop motion was Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It blew my mind how they combined the two holidays most loved by kids like me at the time.
A great yet underrated movie by some that does not feel dated even after 24 years! If anyone by any chance missed this one please do yourself a favor and check it out and even if you do not fall in love with it the hard work that was put into this film is a thing that must be seen at least once in a life time!
Absolutely unforgettable classic movie. I don't watch it every year, but it's one of my most treasured dvds in my collection. It was pretty amazing to see drawings and other material from Tim Burton's private collection at an art gallery show in Tokyo a few years ago.
When I was a kid, I used to watch this movie all day long and it was in English as a native Spanish speaker I couldn't understand what they were saying but I love it. Now that I'm bilingual I can understand what they say and everything which for me is a bonus.
One of the few movies I've seen >2 times in a movie theater during a single release. I remember dragging my mom to see it. I was 19 at the time and it's probably the only movie I've ever watched with her as an adult that wasn't some sort of special showing (like Phantom Menace on a digital projector, you should have seen the way the credits crawled at 24fps). She assumed it would be some sort of horror movie (which she certainly doesn't like), but ended up loving it. Possibly my favorite animated movie of all time, and definitely my favorite of the movies beloved by my family as well.
It's both. Every year since it came out i watch it every Halloween. Then again on Christmas lol. I still have all the watches you could get from burger king when they were promoting it before it's release.
James Rolfe totally needs to watch the Swedish movie that's known as "Show Me Love" in America. It was made in 1998 and is a rare example of a teenage movie that actually feels realistic, and where the movie shows a lot of respect for the characters instead of just using them as plot tools. The acting is incredibly impressive as well, considering that several of the actors were between 14-17 years old.
It's funny, I guess because it has always been such a huge part of my life I never examined TNBC to make the visual connection to German expressionism, but as soon as you said it the lightbulb went off!
As a One Piece anime fan, Interesting trivia: The Creator of One piece Eccihiro Oda, That the movie was his absolute favorite and he even made a main character to join in as a Tall Skeleton named Brook that his personality is quirky and a Musician.
Hey, James, could you do a movie review of "Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children Complete"? As a game and movie buff, I'd like to hear your take on it. I'll still enjoy it, regardless, but I'd be curious to hear your point of view. Just askin', Merry Christmas, mate.
I remeber hearing on the radio that a kid asked the creator of the movie if it was a Christmas or Halloween movie. But, I don't remember what he said, I think he said Halloween
When I was going to see this movie my expections were low because I never saw the movie before, Iknew about the character, and the only thing abouthim was in the game Kingdom Hearts 2 but since nobody talk about the movie or game me expection were low and them I saw it, I love this movie one of the best I ever saw the music, the visuals eveything about this movie is amazing, became one of my favorite like in a instant.
What is funny is that I really don't like musicals. I hate them with a passion, but I really loved this and the soundtrack is amazing. This means allot coming from someone like me. Those involved with the music and the voice actors who sang the songs deserve top credit. Just a very well done film all around in my personal opinion.
"Jack becomes bored with doing the same Halloween celebration every year"... which ironically describes how I've felt about Tim Burton for the last 15 years.
Meanwhile, in Burton's Justice Hall... - Gentlemen, we need to make a christmas movie and a halloween movie. Any ideas? - We could make only one. - For Christmas ou Halloween? - Why not both? (Silence) - You're promoted.
