I remember this. Watching the actual interview after Stephen supposedly 'saved' his parents was sickening. Him boasting on and on... and you can tell his father who was sitting right beside him had already suspected him.

I remember this he tortured his lovely parents right from the start all through pure greed. He should never be free, not ever.

Steven’s father was suspicious early on. Good thing he told his doctor. To be living in fear of, and then be killed by your own kin - so sad!

So messed up that he took his parents out to dinner under the guise of showing his appreciation for them and to celebrate Mother’s Day! As if killing your parents wasn’t already bad enough, he chooses to carry out his evil plans on Mother’s Day?! His poor parents probably had zero suspicion of their son, and couldn’t fathom the thought of him ever hurting them. I imagine that they felt very grateful and touched by such a kind gesture by their beloved son, only to be completely blindsided by the realization that their very own son was attempting to kill them!! Imagine the sense of betrayal they must have felt prior to death..Unbelievable… people can be so sick and depraved.

Big red flag son starting on about money!! Lost my dad nearly 20 years ago, he left quite a bit, he was a hard working man, so though I’ve had no money worries since he died, I miss him everyday & would give up everything I a heart beat to have him back!!✊♥️ What a revolting person this man is, hope he rots in rail!!

Great documentary, particularly how it showed the highly organised and thorough CCTV network throughout England. But it always cracks me up when police knock on the door on TV and it's flung open immediately, rather than taking a minute or so. Imagine the fright you'd have, knocking on someone's door and it flies open immediately. I know, it's TV and all, but still... RIP Bob and Pat, your daily routines and the fact that all the neighbours noticed when they didn't happen reminds me of my grandparents 😢

Most people wouldn't care about any amount of money for the lives of their family, especially their parents. How evil this "man" was. I wonder how long he was planning to hurt them? The utter adoration of money is the worst thing in the world. No amount of money takes away your inner strife, bad habits etc. People assume life will change automatically for the better and avenues will open up, creating total happiness.

Thus is my home ground, and I never came across this account till now. I can't help but feel the parents, especially the mum, spoiled Stephen and he got no proper discipline or correction to guide him. Some children need this more than others and he was one as had issues and was attracted to trouble. Still despite history, people will spoil and undiscipline their kids..

It would be obvious that the dad didn't the murder and suicide by gunpowder residue yet it wasn't mentioned here at all. Why? They mentioned the distance but not the gsr evidence? As a parent, I understand trying to preserve a relationship with a child that has chosen to live a very disordered life. I can't imagine their devastation when seeing their own child killing them.

I remember this case including the canal issue. I hope the disabled grandson is okay. Had the parents lived they would have brought him up to age 18 etc and ensured long term care for him. Instead they are dead. As soon as I heard he was selling for £300 the chance of state grants I knew it was a con. What is sad is many businesses can be helped towards finding grants so he could instead have done a legitimate business. I hope the mother of his 3 children can get work to support his 3 children.

It's weird looking back as an adult looking at my acting work to see this so many years later and to fully be able to comprehend what actually happened . I played the sister , i was the girl in the flashback. I never knew as I was only around 8 years old when we filmed this. So surreal and so so sad.
