I love this game! Is one of my favorites. Sadly, it doesn't get much recognition

How did you get it to run? Please, I've been trying every day for over a week now. I've done everything I can think of with virtual machines and compatibility mode. I even have the original disc.

Hello! I'm using Windows 7 and I've installed Windows XP Mode (through microsoft.com - I don't think Windows XP Mode works on anything higher than Windows 7) using their Virtual PC program. The only issue is you have to run the game using "Run in Windows 95" and "256 Colors" You might need to fiddle around with the other compatibility boxes as well. The only issues with this is because Windows XP isn't supported anymore you have to reinstall it once a month (there's a way to transfer your files but it's kind of confusing) and also for some strange reason Nightmare Ned only will run after you restart Windows XP Mode once. If you shut it off and turn it on again, the game won't start. But the fix to that is once more to reinstall Windows XP Mode and complete the process. It's a little hectic to do it all and then the game itself doesn't completely go full screen but it's the best method I've been able to find so far. I'm hoping someone else can find a better method? Oh - and another thing that I've found is that visiting the dentist directly from the Quilt will result in the screen glitch when you move to the right side of the screen. Lol sorry for the long paragraph but that's what I've found to work so far.

Since I left that comment I was able to find a way to run the game almost perfectly. I've been testing it since. So far, the problems I've found with my method are that the rats fall from the vent too quickly, you go down the hall on the gurney too quickly to control, the screen jumps way ahead of you in the bath tub segment, and the puberty song lags. That may seem like a lot of complaints, but it's better than not playing it at all, and I don't think any of those problems would prevent you from completing the game. By the way, here's a link to what I did if you're interested: digiex.net/threads/digiex-exclusive-premade-windows-98-virtual-machine-for-use-with-older-games.1022/ I'm satisfied that I finally got the game to run after so long (and I now have a way to play all my other old PC games) but I have another method in mind that I've decided to try. There's a guy on ebay selling the game with a patch that allows it to run on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, and 10 for $30. At this point it's worth it to me, and it'd much more convenient if it ends up working, especially without glitches.

Those issues you're experiencing are the same as the ones I had when I did my first walkthrough of this game. I ran the game on Windows Vista and even though the game would run fine the speed of the computer is what made it go so quickly at certain parts - it's the way the game is programmed by having some sort of timer based on the computer's internal clock. I'm not sure what the fix is to it but that's good that you've figured something out! And also if you wouldn't mind if you end up getting the patched version on Ebay if you can let me know how it works and what's different about it? Thanks!

Sure, no problem. It should be here around Saturday. I already have SOME information. The guys who sells it does the same thing with a lot of games from that time. He says he's sending an installer cd that I'm supposed to put in the drive, and that's it. Apparently he's only including the game disk for legal reasons and the game information is already built into the installer cd. In an earlier message he said he "created a standalone environment limited to the game, that allows it to run" but I'm honestly not sure what that means. Sorry it isn't more simple. I know the pain in this instance.

Any news on your game? I hope it worked out?

I loved this game so much my dad hid the cd-rom from me for nearly a decade. It kills me to not know how to access this semi-lost media. I'm not very tech-savvy, so I'm not sure how one would play it again.
