@@22304abcabsolutely!!! The amount of sh*t I was putting onto my face thinking it’ll “cure everything” and it’s “magic”, bc I knew nothing about skincare and the actual science behind your skin and the ingredients that you put on your skin. Now I know where to put my money, what to avoid and I’m not falling for marketing and business trying sell me magic in a bottle 😒 ( tho we all know that’s retinol). Would love a full “skincare for beginners” series on developing a skincare routine from the ground up. How to decipher product ingredients, what you need vs what’s less essential, etc. Especially one that doesn’t break the bank!
@yolaghy
@yolaghy 3 года назад
first gotta define your skin type and what it needs, then it goes from simple routine to more complex with more products as you get used to commit to doing your skincare, what I learned for sure from shereen is, first, double cleanse if you wear makeup, moisturizer and sunscreen come last, and use sunscreen everyday, and reapply throughout the day. exfoliants, serums, eye creams, etc come in between if you use them. with different goals and uses for each. for ex: Vitamin C is better used for AM routine not at night and enhances your sunscreen's ability to protect from UV. Where's my money @DrShereenIdriss? No, send me products instead!

While you may get away with just one cleanser for both cleanses, it's really nice to begin with an oil-based (cleansing balms are my fav), because they don't get in to your eyes so you can be really thorough and gentle when massaging off make up; it's nice to then just remove everything with a warm damp flannel/muslin cloth. All of that is mess-free and very gentle. I then go in with a second cleanse with a water-based cleanser, but only need half a pump for whatever's left and don't take it too close to my eyes. Somehow that's much gentler and less messy than just using a water-based cleanser twice. And it's not like you're saving money when using just one cleanser for both cleanses anyway 😛 Thanks for the video and looking forward to hearing more on the serum!

I am in love with the Avène cleansers but especially the Tolérance lotion nettoyante. It says on the bottle you do not need to rinse it but I always rinse it no matter what and pair it with a micellar water for my first step. I find when my skin gets irritated or when it’s fall time this cleanser is always saving my skin. ✨I love gel, cream and foam but for my skin I prefer something between cream and gel.

Oh I so want to know about the secret product 😍 you have definitely tempted me to get the la rocha posay serum too... do those of us who aren't as used to retinol need to avoid using that on the same night as our retinol? I currently just use the Paula's choice BHA to exfoliate but I do it on different nights to my retinol. I'd love to hear your views on removing peach fuzz as well as any favourite face masks (ie jar skincare masks as opposed to fabric covid introduced facemasks!)

I do Bioderma Sensibio H20 followed by the Aveeno Calm and Restore cleanser. My skin is easily irritated and dehydrated with rosacea but hates oils. I'm starting to make some of my summer to fall changes - switching from Metrogel to Metrocream, running air purifier humidifiers, switching from a liquid sunscreen to a cream sunscreen. I might have to add a serum in. I still plan to use the Aveeno Calm and Restore Gel Cream as moisturizer and I'm using Differin per my dermatologist.

I like thick creams. Currently using Burts Bees sensitive as my 2nd cleanse. The Cerave Hydrating Cleanser reminds me of "straight out of college" days when I had to water down my VO5 conditioner to make it to payday. LOVE the Aveeno Oat Gel moisturizer,.

I use the Regimen Lab Tabula Rasa Gentle Foaming cleanser. Takes off water-resistant tinted mineral sunscreen and light make-up off without stripping the skin. This is the only cleanser that I’ve found is powerful yet gentle enough for a 2 in 1 cleanse, so I can skip the 1st step.

Do you use Sunscreen? Can the toleriane remove it? How do you use it? Thank you!
@annas5303
@annas5303 3 года назад
@@andrea6710 you need to use something else first, either micellar water or oil based cleanser, it is too gentle to remove sunscreen on it's own, even if used twice. It doesn't foam. In the worst times when my cheeks were oversensitive from mask rubbing all day everyday even Toleriane stang (never heard or read about anybody else not tolerating it, so take it as you will). Currently loving the LRP Cicaplast gel cleanser, cleans better IMO, does not dry out and I like gels a lot more, Toleriane was like a lotion or light cream.

If taking off sunscreen or makeup, Costco makeup wipes work well. I prefer a cleansing balm, Till I Met You, lol I know, cheesy name but it works. Followed by Toleriene gentle cleanser. This cleanser is soothing and rinses clean without dryness. In a pinch, I have used Toleriene for normal/oily skin. Wow! Not drying or irritating. Love both.

My do-it-all cleanser: the Kbeauty cult Banila’s Clean It Zero original balm! Removes my waterproof mascara and sunscreen without stripping or irritating my rosacea-prone skin. If I’m feeling lazy and want a single cleanser, I always go for this 👍🏻.

For morning, I like a single cleanser like Inkey Oat Cleansing Balm or Fulvic Acid Brightening Cleanser. For evening, I use Bioderna to take off eye makeup and lipstick. Then I like the DHC cleansing oil and then a balm like the one from Elemis or Emma Hardie. I love cleansing so I have several on hand which are dependent on how my skin feels that day

Dr. Shereene, I think they already pulled almost all hydroquinone products off the shelfs :( almost all products that had it have changed the formula to exclude it. The link for the Differin one shows it is no longer Hydroquinone, it is 4% Niacinamide.

I don’t like micellar water personally. But I also sometimes wear thicker makeup and I feel like an oil based first step takes everything off better. And cold cream I like using for my eye makeup. It takes off my water proof mascara SO easily. Then I go in with a water based cleanser.
