Nightwing: Unpopular Opinions/Hot Takes 

I don't think Jason being first would make much sense. I don't think Batman would risk another Robin if the first one failed. Having Jason 2nd, and then Tim, makes sense because Dick is proof to Batman that a sidekick works.

My hot take for Nightwing, is that I don’t like how often he is in Gotham than he is in Bludheaven. Granted, I don’t mind seeing him in Gotham once in a while, because he can be a good help for Batman if he’s on a mission and he doesn’t want to endanger any of the younger members of the bat family like Tim, Damian, Cass, and Duke, or helping out the bat family, and hanging out with them. My problem is that it happens a lot more than it should, which causes him to be more involved with stuff going on in Gotham than in his own city, Bludheaven, and it kinda defeats the purpose of his journey of being Robin to Nightwing, and having Bludheaven being his own place, since it helped separate himself from the rest of the bat family and being his own hero. Especially when you consider how big the bat family is now, doing their own thing in Gotham, and you could replace Dick with another member to help Bruce with his missions, which is why I think DC need to have Dick be more involved in his own city, because like I said, it helps him stand out to be his own hero, but it would also give spotlight to other bat family members.

Idk about the switch Dick and Jason comment. I think the reason Jason works is that Batman is kinda complacent. He's pissed that Dick left, takes in this other random kid and kinda just let's him do his own thing cause he wants him to replace Dick. But Dick was better trained and more restrained in his crime fighting cause he understood his limits. I don't think Batman would like Jason get away with as much shit if he was the first Robin. Batman needs the successful Robin under his belt first before immediately fucking it uo with Robin number 2

That Dick Grayson Plot as #2 is Tim Drake as Robin.

Nightwing should be a member of the Superman family. In established canon, when he stops being Robin, Superman gives him the idea for the Nightwing name. This means Dick already is a succesor to a kryptonian hero (in pre-crisis, Superman himself was the original Nightwing). He's also already more focused on hope and optimism and smiling. So this is how this version of Dick would go: as Robin, he's in the Batman family. He eventually gets into a fight with Batman and becomes Nightwing, with Superman as his new mentor who helps him embrace the smiles and the optimism. The suit and the gear could have kryptionian tech as their origin as he wouldn't use Bruce's money. Eventually, Bruce and Dick forgive each other and Dick becomes his own hero, who's not that much closer to Batman's world than Superman's. Bludhaven could be exactly in the middle point between Gotham and Metropolis. Dick should then get his own sidekick and maybe eventually a Nightwing family of sorts to really show he's his own hero. He would be a mixture of Superman and Batman. This may not be the definitive version of the character but I think it's very interesting and original.

3:42 Interesting idea, but I don't think it would work. I am not sure Batman would have even took Tim Drake in if he wouldn't have had Dick Grayson, a Robin he succeeded in raising. By this I mean he already had a Robin that turned out fine when Jason died. If the first Robin would have died, I don't think Batman would have tried raising another. Great video though, can't wait for the next one

See my hot take is I feel like nightwing has to much. He has bludhaven full time but he's always with the titans and he stops by Gotham at the weekend so Alfred can do his laundry. He can't have all 3.

Some of these hot takes were extra spicy, I'm a bit of a Nightwing purist because he's my favorite in DC...I'd love to see a reality where Bruce and a majority of the JL die in an Endgame-like event. Dick reluctantly takes up his Father's mantle and spot on the JL along with other adult Titans. We see a new wave of the JL, while respecting what came before. While Dick leaves the Titans to become Batman, he hands down the reigns of the leader of the Titans to Tim Drake. Plus, I'd love to see an evolution of his character not only following in his Father's footsteps but improving upon them. Rehabilitating Damian to a good Robin, having a healthy relationship with Starfire, a good familial bond with both the new protector of Gotham (Barbara Gordon's Batgirl) and the leader of the Suicide Squad (Jason Todd's Red Hood). Sounds crazy, but if I was the writer that's what I'd do...Let me know what you think!

Not gonna lie, although I doubt they would do this in the main continuity, I think the idea of Nightwing and StarFire permanently stationed on her home planet as the primary dynamic duo of that planet would be pretty neat. Maybe there’s some big war on the planet that Starfire has to take part in for her, and Nightwing goes along to support his wife, both emotionally and on the battlefield. Halfway through the book, as there is enough drama going on, Starfire has a surprise pregnancy resulting in having a mixture of delight at the thought of having a child and utter horror given the situation. You could explore the stresses of being soon to be parents and the effects war has on commanding officers trying to make the best decisions for everyone. You could call the book “Titans of Tamaran“ As for who would be taken care of blüdhaven, I know people don’t particularly like him as much as dick, but I could see Damien eventually becoming the hero of that city if he matures. Maybe he could even take up the mantle of Nightwing for earth, seeing as Dick will be spending most of his time on Tamaran from here on out

Neither Dick nor Tim should be the next Batman. Both have stated multiple times that they do not want to be Batman. The only Batfam member that makes sense as Batman is Cassandra Cain, as the rest doesn't want to, couldn't carry the role (Damian, Jason as they both are killers, Jean-Paul due to what happened when he did) or wouldn't be offered the role (Steph). She is the one who actively has that as a set goal. The only things stopping her are editorial, writers and maybe her gender (though canonically nobody cares, some thugs thought she was just Batman, and King Shark called her "everyones favorite Batman").

It’d honestly be interesting to see an elseworld story where Bruce Wayne dies, Dick and Tim BOTH take the mantle of Batman individually, and resent each other for trying to take the mantle. It could be a dark story, as it’s about a family falling a part after losing its patriarch, or it could be a comedic story, playing with the 4th wall and making tongue in cheek references to the argument within the fandom.

Dick is easily my favorite character, love his personality.

I always saw it as Dick is the best replacement for protecting Gotham, Tim is the best Replacement for becoming Batman. Also, why do people immediately go to "he's the smaertes Robin so he wins" when experience matters WAY more?

Dick is Batmans true son

I feel like if neither were holding back Batman would definitely beat Nightwing. However I feel like Bruce would probably hold back against his son. Then again, you could also argue Dick would probably hold back against Batman, so it’s a pretty even playing field

Part of the reason I prefer Dick and Kory is because Dick and Barbara feel like pseudo-incest. Obviously they're not siblings, but like the only Batfam members I can see getting together are Batman and Catwoman, and maybe Tim Drake and Stephanie Brown (Spoiler/Batgirl/Robin) because they met and were couples before they were officially in the Batfam.

I think red hood is a more interesting and better character than Nightwing
