Both yes and no. Creativily I would argue Imaginaerum was their peak. As for the enchantedness that made Nightwish so special.. that was ended with this concert. They can say what they want, but a lot of what made Nightwish so special was lost when they got rid of Tarja. There was something magical (different than the magic they did with Anette) that was never regained to this day. And today.. they are a mere shadow of who they once were.
@@michaelvedal1907 I totally agree. Never was a Nightwish fan, but i liked their music very much. A crucial thing was tarjas voice. It was something different and strangely beautiful. After she left this strangely beautiful aura, became just another common band. Yes, Floor is a very good singer, but what Tarja brought to this band was more than just a good voice.
Lyrics : Soon I will be here no more You'll hear my tale Through my blood Through my people And the eagle's cry The bear within will never lay to rest Wandering on Horizon Road Following the trail of tears White man came Saw the blessed land We cared, you took You fought, we lost Not the war but an unfair fight Sceneries painted beautiful in blood Wandering on Horizon Road Following the trail of tears Once we were here Where we have lived since the world began Since time itself gave us this land Our souls will join again the wild Our home in peace 'n war 'n death Wandering on Horizon Road... This was a stroke of genius flying John two hawks over just for this show. The man is a natural performer. It is a forgotten classic as others below have observed but it was the highlight of the 'Once' album for me.
John lives in my state have met him several times,he is such a people person,so humble and fine, superior voice and gift,he makes you feel so accepted and love emanates from him. He is an extraordinary man
I do not know how real John is but the song and this great performance is very real. It respects native americans and has an important global human message for us all. Awesome work Nightwish + John.
Listen to the voice of the naturals is always so beautiful, theres a powerful feeling in the air even if I cant understand the meaning of the words. When I listen to my family´s elders talking in Quechua (the voice of the Inka) it feels like everything its allright in this universe.
I am a big Nightwish fan, from the UK, since i first saw them on UK tv on top of the pops back in 2004, (i think), when "Nemo" was in the top 40, and this is how i want to remember them for the the rest of my life, i know this was Tarja's last live show with Nightwish, but no one will ever take her place, not even Anette or Floor, ok, Anette was the perfect vocalist for "Imaginarium" which i have watched hundreds of times, and for Floor fronting Nightwish, i WISH i could've been at Waken in 2013, and yes i have also got the concert on DVD, and played to hell and back
SIN PALABRAS....ESTA CANCION ES HERMOSA UNA OBRA DE ARTE....GRACIAS NIGHTWISH....NO ERES SIMPLEMENTE UNA BANDA DE METAL...SINO...UNA BANDA .... QUE COMPRENDE DE RAZAS Y COSTUMBRES...Y RESPETAR...UNA SIMPLE COSA....LA HUMANIDAD Y LA NATURALEZA...
Incredible! Finnish and native american! What an odd but awesome combination. Wonderful John Two-Hawks! Amazing stage presence. I wish I knew what he was saying at the end.
There were people claimed to know the Lakota language and they say they didn't understand what John was saying and say it's just a gibberish. There were articles on that too. And people tried to prove that John is real, not a fraud, but they didn't succeed, since the poem he said at the end of the song contains Lakota language but the grammar is incorrect and can't be understand as sentences in the language. Sry if I typed weird, English isn't my native lan. And I'm not saying he's a fraud or anything, it's just what I read and I read all of the articles about this.
@@JerMaxx-zo3px You are right. His real name is (unless he has officially changed it) Hill. Authorized Lakota translator checked Mr Hill's translation and verified he is using some Lakota words but mostly is just gibberish.
+Percy Jhonny I loved your words. Mitakuye Oyasin! If you see this comment pls send me the whole text as it goes up to ... Sioux, Grande John se parece a mi... (and disappear). My email nadiva.olivier@gmail.com (Brazil).
Nativo americano???
John is one of my favorite flute players. His work with drone flutes is what inspired me to finally build something other than a single bore flute. And adding him over one of my folk metal bands? Perfect.
Tudo. É incrível. O Once é uma obra de Artes. Álbum perfeito que deu vida a vários Hinos do metal. Eu amo! ❤❤❤
Back in summer of 2004 in Rockwave Fest Athens, Nightwish played before headliners Priest and after Queensryche's excellent performance I got laied on the bar for some beers as I never heard Nightwish and expecting something like disco music etc. When they hit the stage and after the entrance of Dark Chest of Wonders ,I started slowly came closer to the stage... The result was that the next day I bought the slipcase edition of Once and the whole backatalogue...
Being of mixed heritage, like many of us, I greatly appreciate and cherish how they have included my old ways. I understand that I have anscestors from the Cherokee and Navajo nations and I long to grow closer to this as well as my Irish and Mexican ancestry. Thank you Nightwish and John Two Hawks.
They missed a trick but having John Two-Hawks as the only American Indian on stage. Although conveying a very important message, I think the presence of more Native Americans could have easily made this a powerful performance on a whole new level.
Jamie White would it have? What if all the planets aligned, a laser beam then shoots out of the great pyramids straight toward the moon blowing it up only to revealing planet nibiru, then while they are playing 7 mysterious lights appears in the sky which show themselves to be ufos, along with 7 grey aliens, 7 sasquatches, and the 7 noble chiefs who are dancing around and ritually using their magically and all seeing peace pipe, how strong would that make it?
@@ExpandYourConscious The Native Americans do have alot of Sasquatch activity, especially on the Navajo, Ute and Apache Rez, along with the NW part of the USA.
I had wanted to re-learn the names of the band members, so I did the whole Internet background research one pm, and came across Jukka's (SP?) whole needing treatment, and leaving the band etc.
I would love to see Nightwish do a show this extravagant again sometime. They have some of the best production quality when they record their concerts. That combined with various changes in clothing, musical guests, and perhaps a live symphony would be amaziiiiing! I know it took the end of a long era to do something like this to begin with, but I could easily say they are entering a brilliant new one currently.
I completely agree. Though, I do have issues with their director/editor. In this concert, during High Hopes, they hardly gave Marco any screen time while he was the main vocalist for that performance while on their most recent live dvd, Showtime, Storytime, Emppu had hardly any screen presence throughout the show; even during his solos.
nintendude7cubed not would have been unnecessary. This was their last tour with Tara, meaning they would have had to bring them on every show. Btw, check out the end of an era d.v.d, they did something special before they played this song to honor the Native American tradition. Peace from Las Vegas.
