wow Floor looked downright evil/intimidating during that breakdown where she was chanting! Also love the growls. lol. That is one of their newer songs too.
Chas, you might as well forget trying to pick a favorite. It's hopeless. Every time you turn around, there'll always be another that takes your breath away. 😂😂😂
Finally you did it! Thanks! Unfortunately you have had an version with bad sound. You don't hear Floor growling on that. You have to hear it again!!! Have fun!
Hulk SMASH like button! Live Nightwish is always enjoyable...this was no exception. Floor is so awesome (and very sexy)...but I wish her growls were a little louder in the mix. She can do it all! Your reactions are always the first one I watch. My wife now watches with me because of your enthusiasm and the great music you pick to react to. Gonna give you a break from suggestions tonight...give you a chance to check out every one else's suggestions as well as the dozen or so I've given you so far haha! Cheers prijatelj!
Dark Chest of Wonders has to be on your list after this one!!!! you are in for a treat! The lyrics to Yours is an Empty Hope are interesting - talking to an overexcited record company exec? How the F can Tuomas move his head like that and still play so well!? I'd collapse! Floor's growls floor me too! Dynamics of tempo and volume and pitch are what makes a song interesting (an airplane engine too! :O ) Not my favourite NW song but your reaction is!
Thanks Damien..:)...I totally agree about the tempo and arrangement are what makes the song appealing to the hear. Yeah you have to be very comfortable with your instrument to be able to totally whip your head around and play the right chords...My shit would sound like i was playing the song backwards..:):)
Chas, I would be very interested to know if you have shared Nightwish's music with your family and friends and what they think of it? Have you converted anyone amongst them to be a Nightwish fan??
Well my kids have listened to a couple of the songs through my reaction videos ....They weren't impressed..:(...They like a lot of the Rap music...Drake ..ect!! Young and uninformed!! :):)....My wife actually doesn't hate them but isn't wowed by them either..she was however very impressed by Apocalyptica... Like i say that is what is so awesome about music ..there is something for everyone!! I do have a couple of guys at work that were actually talking about them on our lunch break...slowly growing on them i believe..:):)
I think that the way Finland, and most other countries around it, teaches music, you get a little of everything. Only thing I don't think they get would be country. (I've only heard a couple of European groups do that )unlike the U.S. where girls typically get pushed into country or pop; the few exceptions being on the vocal shows. Even then, it seems like the more rocked up girls still get steered that way, so I am ultra thankful for Nightwish, Epica, Within Temptation, and Xandria just to name a few bands (there's tons over there that are awesome )
Nah, in here (Finland) it used to be like that as well. Classical or Finnish folk-pop (our equivalent of country). Even Nightwish, after winning the national vote, was denied entry to Eurovision by our square judges, since it was too "heavy". Seriously, Sleepwalker was deemed too heavy a song then. Tuomas was and still remain extremely bitter about this denial. Things only started to change after bands like Nightwish, HIM, (even Rasmus), Lordi, Sonata Arctica, Korpiklaani and Apocalyptica brought the heavier sound to the masses and it gradually became more acceptable. Metallica's success also played a huge part in this We've had really good and heavy bands before that ofc. like e.g. Hanoi Rocks, Stratovarious and Children of Bodom, but they were still heavily scoffed upon by the mainstream and the "proper" people.
Well unfortunately or fortunately ..however you view it....A lot of folks get into the music industry to make money so you tend to play things that make you money...here in the US it is Pop music that is making money so when your growing up that is all you listen to and what you end up liking. When i traveled a little in Europe for my job I was surprised at how many young people listened to Operatic music or the very least didn't mind it. I think that is because it is a part of their culture and history where as here in the US Opera style music of any kind is viewed as more of an older person or folks with money kind of music. Just a thought!! :):)..thanks for the opinions!!
Good morning, friday morning here, what a great morning it is to wake up to you and Nightwish. This is maybe from a gig in US, so this is how you will see Nightwish if you go to their concert, they rock every venue. Thanks for this, can't wait for....the next Nightwish. Kiitos. Now off to work :)
06:25 - shit!! She's like a fierce fucking Amazonian queen!! Chas - if you liked the sexy metal vibe of this one, I think you are gonna love Song of Myself... especially the ending. One of my favorite Nightwish endings...
This is the size of the venue that they tend to play in the US. Much smaller and more intimate, much less pyro, but you are right there indeed. I've seen them twice, once in Silver Spring and once in Baltimore and they were amazing. I think it's much more enjoyable in the smaller venue, personally. You actually have a chance to engage with them since you're not just part of a indistinct mob.
Hmmmm... Somebody send you a huge list of Nightwish songs.... I don't have idea who it was :P My Nightwish suggestions list: -From Floor Ever Dream (live at Wacken 2013); Nemo (live at Wacken 2013 or Wembley 2016); Edema Ruh (studio version 'cause unfortunately there isn't good live version); Shudder Before the Beautiful (live at Wembley 2016); Dark Chest of Wonders (live in Tampere 2015); Alpenglow (live at Wembley 2016); Weak Fantasy (live in Tampere 2015); Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (live at Bloodstock 2018, version from a channel Nightwish Remasters); Elan (live at Wembley 2016 or Tampere 2015); My Walden (live in Tampere 2015); End of All Hope (live at Bloodstock 2018, version from a channel Nightwish Remasters); - From Tarja The Kinslayer (End of an Era DVD); Wishmaster (From Wishes to Eternity DVD); Elvenpath (From Wishes to Eternity DVD); Slaying the Dreamer (End of an Era DVD); Beauty and the Beast (From Wishes to Eternity DVD); The Carpenter (studio version because in that version this is one of few songs where Tuomas is singing!); She is My Sin (From Wishes to Eternity DVD); -From their second vocalist Anette Olzon (all studio versions) Bye Bye Beautiful; Slow Love Slow; Scaretale; The Crow, The Owl and The Dove; Storytime; -From Marco Master Passion Greed (studio version beacuse it was never played live, the best version you can choose is with lyrics) And my suggestions from other bands :P : Ayreon - The Day That The World Breaks Down (official video, this songs include Floor Jansen, Simone Simons from Epica and 9 other singers!) Avantasia - The Raven Child (official video) Epica - Chasing The Dragon (live at Retrospect Show) Beast in Black - Blind and Frozen (official video) Kamelot - Insomnia (official video) Powerwolf - We Drink Your Blood (official video) Brothers of Metal - Yggdrasil (official video) Cheers from Poland!
Yeah a small intimate venue is great to see NW in but this song doesn't do it for me although, Floor does get to growl and use her rock voice. Anyway as long as you are trying new groups how about Avantasia The Scarecrow LIVE (Wacken) (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-LTyxnUZMA1k.html) for a group described as opera metal, dueling singers, dueling guitars and out of the 9 members of the band only the drummer doesn't sing, well worth the listen and a review is up to you!!
It's a decent quality for a fan video, you can get the idea how they sound when you're in the crowd... nontheless, the quality of video and sound is so much better in their official videos (metal cruise from vehicle of spirit, Tampere or Wembley Arena)
Meshing the different tempos together, bridging them: some say Tuomas is good in composing. Some go as far as calling him genius. Big word. But just think how different kind of songs he has composed! Yeah, the drums and base are the thing in this - the rhythm. Though ominous or devilish makes me more like want to chuckle - for me that's teenage stuff, like 'spooky' :) There's also the real devil playing with us, but he's the master of puppets, no contract with him will be respected on his part, but is a string to make you dance, bounce - he decides then how high you jump. o why make such a deal. Freedom sounds more promising to me. And good news is, if there's the devil - there's the opposite power too. Not balanced, but the creator, who made the devil also before he rebelled. Don't taking down people's hope, I like more the approach you give here Chas: be safe, treat everybody with respect, do good to your neighbours. The penultimate Hyvää yötä was correct! :) First time you messed that Hyvää, but yötä was correct then too :) (Now that the r is dropped, watch out the y in 'yes' you English speaking say. My advice is, form the lips before uttering the word 'yötä'. And like I said - one of them was correct, the one before the last.)
@@chasalbert5113 Just depends on which sounds happen to be there - familiar to English or not. Lucky it's usually just 2-3 words :) But I respect your fearless approach: that would be it, the attitude, if you ever really studied one language sincerely. Open minded, and not afraid to make mistakes. I's more like expect to make mistakes. But once you realize you made a mistake, you're already a step forward. Have you studied Spanish or French? Those can be useful in the States, Spanish especially. French more if you had Canadian contacts, of course. Or I would tip my hat if you said you speak Navajo :)
I have a little mixed feelings about this song since it uses the guitar riff from Dark Chest of Wonders, their other song from Once album. That song's studio version is one of my personal favourites from Nightwish edit: bad grammar
@@chasalbert5113 True, or it could be that the riff is just so bloody good that they just wanted to play it more xD edit: Just read more on it. It seems it was an intentional tribute to that older song
Great to hear you will love to see them in a smaller venue. In the US they play smaller venues as they are not so big as in Europe. In Europe they fill stadiums and have a real big stage podution in the US you get more intimate venues. Loved your reaction as always. Gute Nacht from germany.
@@chasalbert5113 I would love to see them in a smaller venue again...like I have in 2002 with Tarja. But to be honest I think I will not get the chance here in Germany.
For some reason I've never really been able to get into this song, so it's personally not one of my favourites. Still a very good song in its own right though and I enjoyed your reaction to it. For me it's Friday already, so I'm already one step closer to the weekend!
Great reaction bro! 😊 I really like your channels positivity... keep it going man! 😎 I would like to suggest you more finnish metal: Amorphis - Amongst stars or The Bee or Daughter of Hate or Message in the Amber. Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars or Time both are live rehearsal at Sonic Pump studio. Insomnium - While we sleep. All those are great at melodeath metal bands. 🤘🤗 And one more surprise song... Northern Kings - We Don't Need Another Hero (Tina Turner cover)... I bet you definitely would love that one! 😉
When you are doing other bands that aren't nightwish you could try After Forever. You might Recognize the singer (hint: she is over 6ft tall and sings like a goddess). I recommend these: Discord (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nkvGvJFq-04.html) Dreamflight (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GBLke4zeZuI.html) As for Nightwish songs, you should do Weak Fantasy live at Tampere.
Please look up Nightwish - 7 Days To The Wolves (Live at Wembley Arena). And thanx a lot for your reactions to their music art. I love them too :)) be safe and enjoy!
I was thinking how you liked apocalyptica and I you need to see this... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-n399NMGfEeI.html (hope I have the right link for bittersweet) It's them with Lauri (the rasmus, another fun finnish band) and Ville (H. I. M. - sadly they do not exist anymore). By the way Ville, the one in a hat, doesn't like Nightwish because he finds them to be too theatrical...
I love this song so much! I love the Holy Trinity but this song is like being hit by a truck, again and again. I love your genuine enthusiasm as well and I'm a new subscriber. Keep up the joy for life and music!
Yeah she doesn't do as much vocally in this one but the song is cool that i think it is just right with the amount she did...That Rhythm is sweet!! Thanks Dave!!
What a nice way to start a morning. Cup of coffee, best Nightwish song on best reaction channel. You have so much positive vibes and energy on your videos, it's contagious. Loved the reaction.
I really liked this reaction of yours. It wasn't an empty hope lol (see what i did there, didya????) :) I always enjoy your reactions, make me feel good lol. So - im still banging for Ever Dream from Wacken 2013 - because its awesome. Also, I think you'd love Dark Chest of Wonders as well from the same gig. Also, if you can one day, you can check out Wishmaster from Nightwish in Rio. Somewhy all my friends need a cold shower after that :P I do not know why :D hahahaha. You keep bangin those videos out and I will watch them. Also - Head Ööd (ö sounds like the sound you make when you start to puke) lol --- its good night in Estonian - my language.
Your reactions have become my daily routine when I wake up :D And this one started my friday perfectly. I add one more to your list: Nightwish - Sahara (Live at Tampa)
I think it is time for a short break from Nightwish. Launch your weekend with this. Sabaton - 40:1 (Live Woodstock) or Lion from the North (same show) Both these will get you in a good mood for the weekend.
