Never thought I'd see a fork-bearded viking with fishbone braids, Jukka in a bowler hat, and Emppu actually staying in one spot during a song, but here we are
For me this is Annette's signature song. As much as I love Floor, she does not quite do this song justice. Empuu's solo is absolutely beautiful, as well.
Floor also do "Gethsemane" no justice, which is hands down Tarja's Song. This one here seems to be Annette's. And so has every former and recent member(ess?) her own characteristics. Which is good as it is :). I know Nightwish for many years now with exclusively songs of the Tarja time, but do came really on them only in the last few months. I decided to go fully on Floor and ignore Tarja and Annette as good as i can, but: That does not work! Every single female has imprinted the work and art of Nightwish in her very own manner, so that the whole thing of Nightwish isn't complete without any of them. Nightwish has developed strongly from the beginnings until today, where the band is still able to reach new levels one after one. And every member, recent or gone, has put it's indelible stamp on the entire work. In my opinion it is pointless to mourn one or the other (especially female) member. Because each marked a station in the development of the band, each contributed its own characteristics, and everything continues to develop where paths separate and new ones open up. The big picture has not perished, but has matured, has also developed, and that's what counts in the end :).
@NataWorkStudio I would love to see you give this same treatment to the live version of Rush's "The Garden" from the Clockwork Angels Tour DVD. The actual performance of that song/video would be enhanced much more with the studio version being overlaid onto it due to Geddy Lee's singing on the studio version being much better than on said video.
Thomas night wish without your musical arrangements would be nothing and in each one of their vocalists you've chosen well; although to us despite the departure of each one of them ....
Lucas Nascimento I agree, the sing is good, but I particularly don't like jazz, I rexognize is a great genre but I just can't seem to like it... however, if they want to play it is okay, they don't have to change for us :). But still, it doesn't go with the band style.
Anette was a great singer of the band. But this jazz style is not for Nightwish. Nightwish is rock opera metal opera but jazz???? What was thinking Tuomas when he did thia song. Who likes jazz may love this song but I love Metal.
