While I love the songs released during Floor's era, I find that Tarja era's ones were more creatively diverse in general.

Just to be clear Flor and Tarja are friends from before flor joined nightwish and are friends to this day. They have sung together several times. Now there is some deep proper educated critique ( not criticism) of Tarja ( tar -yee aa). Her voice control. Her breath control. Her posture. Her keeping space in the back of the throat through her neck to have the room for rich vowels and relaxed throat & vocal cords for that deep, dark rich sound. Classical style singing yes found in opera singers but predating opera. Nor is it restricted to only classical music. Healthy singing so as not to strain the voice. To not lose range or power with age. At least not more than is innevitable. Her voice over 20 years is almost indistinguishable from what it was. You need good ears to hear it. Nothing casual listening will catch. Nothing that stops her from doing what she grew into not only loving and being loved for doing but finding her home on the stage. A benefit of age people of the internet, the ability to grow comfortable in your skin. To know who you are and be OK with that. Not an excuse to not try to improve but accepting imperfections. Yes if purely classical standards applied, she does not hold to that all the time. But not because she does not know better or is incapable or unwilling to hold the standard but, because it fits the style of the music she wants to produce. News flash, She's a metal head. You can see how much she loves to perform. The audience is part of the experience. No matter who is singing Floor or Tarja, they share that passion and attitude. If no one is listening to the music, you might as well play for the trees. Its not a competition. The past built the present. The good, the bad and the ugly. Today Nightwish is not who they were then. Fine. We have albums and videos of then. That will never be lost. Now they are something new. That too we have for ever. Tarja evolved and grew and we have the past and the present of her work as well. Damn are we spoiled. If only vicariouslly we can live the then and the now. Love to both ladies and all the band members involved then and now.

@@Ozzy_2014 no idea why you tought it necessary to state that they are friends and that there's no animosity between them, since I didn't even went near that subject. But yes to the rest, we all evolve trough the years, same as them, as people, as artists, as performers, the art itself, the music, the lyrics, everything changes with time. I tend to see them (Tarja's era aka "the past" and Floor's era aka "the present") as 2 separate bands. The style, influences and experience between then and now is notable amd makes them as distinct as if they are different bands, or the same band from 2 different dimensions ;)

Floor is versatile. She do things Tarja don't. But Tarja is GOLD. There's some ancient energy to get vocals. Sounds epic any way

The lyrics go SO FAST on this one... I also had trouble to understand every word when I listened to the studio version for the first time... But it is exactly that fast tempo that makes this song so special! So I don't blame Dereck a lot! :D eheh His reactions are actually some of the Best out there! Btw, This is for me the ultimate version of Wishmaster: Tarja, Emppu & Jukka tottaly Owned this song... In my opinion no other Wishmaster performance Ever topped this one... \m/ \m/

@@soundslikeblue I agree noone after Tarja did this song better or even same... somewhat special this with this song, but a good thing, this song stays Tarjas up until today... She deserves it. And yes, looking into publicum, this must be the End of an Era concert in Hartwall arena 2005 (the last one).

Tarja is amazing and beautiful and funny.and so warm and caring..never turns away a fan and still blushes at the slightest compliment, and cries when remembering her mother

Classical vocal techniques sure don't privilege pronounciation over ressonance, its true, but Tarja has been trying to improve that over the years, even if her current singing still continues to infuse Classical techniques (althought she actually has been experimenting different things vocally speaking, specially in the last decade)... HOWEVER, in this song the Lyrics go SO FAST that I also had trouble to understand every word when I listened to the studio version for the first time... But it is exactly that fast tempo that makes this song so special! So I don't blame Tarja nor Dereck a lot! eheh BTW, His reactions are actually some of the Best out there! I think it’s also partially the fact that this song references a lot of names from fantasy novels so like, they genuinely DON’T sound like English 😂

as opposed to Floor who nowadays sings virtually everything in a dinner theater voice

I don't know why native speakers can't understand her. I'm German and I understand most of it. Maybe I'm used to people speaking English with and accent.

there would be no NW without Tarja who chose not to expose the long, history of neglect and disregard for her basic needs...without her testimony, the band immediately lost 50% of its fan base...with her testimony., the remaining fanbase would topple and there would be no Annete or Floor to follow

@@onlythtruth2938 yes, not to mention that Toumas wanted to create a boring folk band with just acoustic guitars and it was due to Tarja powerful voice that they incorporated drums,and electric guitars and bass and added a metal sound to support her voice. They wouldn't be not NW without Tarja
