ahhh I forgot. apart from the siren, there is a unique song for Tarja "passion and the opera". with NW they never sang it live but Tarja remastered it and sang it later in her solo career. I think it is a song that Floor would never sing because it is special for Tarja and she said that she worked a lot for this song to be able to sing it perfectly.

I agree 100% what you said about the singers. They all have their strenghts and they bring different things to the table. There are a lot of Tarja and Floor fans and they are great, but what comes to ballads, I think Anette had the best ones and her voice really was perfect for them. 😊

I agree.. I love Floor and the way she sings and what she can make me feel with her performance. But.. Some of my favorite songs from Nightwish are Tarja songs.. Like " the siren" and " I wish I had an angel". So I don't get it when people are bitter on one or the other. They are great singers.. Dam.. There are a lot a bands with "opera singers" and symphonic elements but you will hear-see that the best of nightwish is because their compositions, there is something so perfect in there.

"Beauty of the beast" is an iconic song sung only by Tarja so far. This is a song from the album "Century Child", the band's fourth. It is a song as iconic as "Ghost love score". There is a live version of "Beauty of the beast", but the recording quality is poor, even on remastered videos. Because of that, I strongly recommend the studio version of this song so as not to ruin your experience. It is important not to confuse "Beauty OF the beast" with "Beauty AND the beast". The band has these two songs. If you want to hear "Beauty AND the beast" there is a good live version recorded on the dvd "From wishes to eternity". By the way, there is also only version of "Beauty AND the beast" with Tarja.

I have the last two CDs from Nightwish, but, I prefer the Era da Tarja. Not that one is better than the other, because I don't think so, but because it is more fanciful and the style of Tarja's voice is unique and gives me emotions. Singing in the classic style at a rock concert for 1 hour I think it's amazing. And because these last two albums are more about science and history, I don't like them very much, I don't like those themes.

Even when she was singing songs from dark Passion play I found it very much a mixed bag, this definitely has to do with the fact that the whole album was completed by Tuomas and Marco, with Anette added later and her live voice just never sold me anyway. I missed out going to Brixton again in 2012 to see Nightwish with Floor, that would’ve been the last time I would’ve seen them anyway because I haven’t really enjoyed the last two albums released. Ultimately I have a stylistic or preference towards Tarja, I’m not a fan of Anette, like at all, Floor I prefer her after forever/revamp career with Northward if you want something from her later years. That said I’ve always said that Floor is the perfect bridge between both previous singers, even though where she shines the most at least in my opinion is on Anette era songs 2007-2012. Not to mention she brought back (again at least in my opinion) a legitimacy to the Tarja era of songs also.

This song always hypes me!!!!! I met NW with Tarja and it was like magic, now it's the same. If you want to continue with her, try with their version of Walking in the air. It's my favourite xmas carol. I even did a version with my students in school and it was awesome.

I'm a huge Floor fan and I think she sings almost everything better than her predecessors, because she simply brings more variety to the songs through her voice, while the other two singers are very determined when it comes to variability. But there are actually songs that I prefer to hear from Tarja, because it just fits. "Wishmaster" is one of them. "Walking in the Air" and "Phantom of the Opera" are others. There is nothing better than her voice for me.

You totally right when you said each singer are different and each of them are in some way special. If you are nightwish's fan you appreciate nightwish with all the change in the band. Because everytime it was special and great.

Tarja and Floor are both great singers. You can't compare them. Different style and era. NW with Tarja started it and now it's Floor's time.

I grew up listening to NW with Tarja and I loved it because it was very different from everything I listened to. rock mixed with a soprano voice, it was totally original for me. they caught me immediately. then with Anette it was so different that I didn't like it. with Floor it's a more rock style, not so symphonic anymore because I think she tries a lot to sing opera style but there are some songs that she does well. I prefer her in new songs. and I always listen to Tarja in her solo career, her latest CD is amazing.

I agree with that entire statement at the end, I appreciate each singer for what they brought to Nightwish... I prefer some over the other on some songs but that doesn't mean I hate the other version. For more Tarja checkout The Siren, Planet Hell or Kinslayer. she rocks those songs for me personally.

Thank you for this❣️ as I said before, this song is a legend. All the girls have sung it. I have seen tarja’s and Annette’ s live performances and I have listened floor’s from RU-vid. I enjoyed all of them, however tarja’s has the best vibe, it’s perfect. When you heard tarja sing this live, you couldn’t even clap your hands, you were like paralysed - that’s how powerful her sound was in this song. As a song wishmaster is quite simple,although it’s made by tuomas, but it’s perfect , just perfect 🤩 😍

Why would we hate you? You said exactly what we all know. Anyone with ears to hear and heart to feel will say that. This band is lucky with the singers - all three are great - each in their own individual way. And at the same time, they are so different - and that's a good thing, because each of us can choose our favorite version of a given song. And Tuomas? Tuomas is a lucky guy - he writes great music, great lyrics - and at the same time he has gathered great musicians over the years who can play this music in such a way as to kidnap us and delight us. And it does not change for years - what more could you want?

Yep. I like this song more with Tarja too. And I'm obsessed with Floor. This was one of the first song I heard from Nightwish yeeeaaars ago. It always gave me gamer music vibes. This song is so epic.

Great reaction! I totally agree with you, and I feel sorry about those who only like NW with one singer. There is so much to explore for those, who love them all. I have been fan since 1998 and I regret that I couldn't give Anette a better chance. Contrast was just too big for me back then, and I was too devastated because of Tarja's departure. Anette is very good singer, but her voice couldn't handle extreme touring too well, and she really struggled with old Tarja's songs at live. She was still a great performer and gave 100% everytime.

As I told you in a previous comment, the genius that invented the genre and put together the orchestra with the metal band is Mr. Christopher Johnson, IMO the most talented composer in the world (yes, Tuomas from Nightwish and Mark from Epica are very close). If you want to listen how symphonic metal started, you should react to "To Megatherion" (I recommend the Wacken 2001 version), and then going for more Therion, where you will discover the best guitar player in symphonic metal (Kristian Niemann), the best metal soprano (Lori Lewis), amazing choirs, bass lines, incredible solos... I think this band has/had 2 world class singers at least (Tarja,Floor), who are both talented at Goldstandard level, and both outlandishly charismatic. Is there any other band with 2 female world class lead singers ? Truly stunning.

Good that you picked this cause there is no better live performance of this song than this anywhere and generally this whole concert is in top three. Yes...they are younger here ; ) ... Tuomas did this all what comes to writing the music. No I do not hate you at all ...opposite cause you got the point as it is. Younger NW fans (and some odd persons) do not remember why this band actually exists, how they got world famous plus actually formulated their symphonic metal concept. During Tarja era that all happened (she was one of the three founding members of the band) and then came the replacements to the table already set. Yes they continued fine though ! I admire them all and my opinion is that one can not be a NW fan if hates anybody of them. By the way...if you really want to see them as young...do 2000 year concert (From Wishes to Eternity) and even earlier stuff since 1993 as babies ! In the end you ask what some did and not....maybe Floor has done all those songs than Anette but certainly not all than Tarja who did five albums and plenty of other stuff with them. The first album and demo for instance. Naturally those songs which are in Finnish cause it is quite difficult language for foreign persons to learn.

I love the once and century child albums from Tarja. Creek mary's blood, forever yours, and ocean soul by Tarja are gorgeous and must hears. Creek mary's blood live from end of an era or the official music video is fantastic. The other 2 I think are only lyric videos. Im an old nightwish fan and to be honest i prefer Floor in 90% of the songs but in this one Tarja win my vote by far . Floor did a good job with this song in rock in rio 2015 , but sorry Floor, no one can beat Tarja in this one not even you .

Thanks for reacting to masterpiece from the past! so refreshing to hear a reactor who is reasonable enough to try to appreciate all the singers for what they are, and not what they aren't I personally am not a huge Anette fan, but that is mainly because I don't like cheerful pop music that much, which is the vibe Anette oozes out. However, I do understand that there are plenty of people who like that sort of sound and much prefer her to the other singers, and the more power to them

No Nightwish fan is going to hate you for loving this song, sung by Tarja.It's only cheerleaders of a certain singer that likes to compare and trash one singer over another.Seems to me you get the essence of Nightwish.Tuomas is genius enough to keep vehicle of spirit moving despite of whoever the singer is.Not one member is going to make or break this band unless it's Tuomas himself. Back when Tarja was first fired, I was very anti-Nightwish for a few years, I only listened to Tarja-era stuff, apart from their first album with Anette which I gave a listen just to see what she sounded like. I was just so mad that Tarja, who was back then and still is today, my ultimate metal godess, got fired, and also I was an immature teen back then so. Nowadays though I have several songs from both Anette and Floor as well as Tarja on my playlist, however Tarja is still my favourite and that won't ever change!

I can't help but think of the Van Halen drama when considering Nightwish. There was the original era, the David Lee Roth era, which established who they were and cemented their epic place in history. Then they broke up and reformed with a very different singer, and forever fractured the fan base. And there was a third singer that many thought was a good singer in his own right (they're correct) but that he just didn't quite fit with the band's style (debatable). And there's endless drama among the fans because of it, with some appreciating material from all three eras, while others will only listen to a particular era, usually the original. And with both bands the majority point the finger of blame at the core member, the one who writes the music and is the main reason the band exists. Argueably they're correct in both cases.

OK, I think now you are ready for Mater Passion Greed. The gods at Asgard were angry the day Tuomas wrote that one. It is their angriest, heaviest and most aggressive song to the point that Tuomas and the gang don't play it live any more. Only the official video version on this one but it is Nightwish as you have never seen before, Tarja or otherwise. It is one of those songs Tuomas wrote to express his feelings for Tarja's husband who he considered the reason Tarja veered away from the band. Of course Tuomas i snot that guy any more and that's why this song is dropped from their sets. Did you get the last bar Empu played on this song (Wishmaster) as a homage to Iron Maiden's Trooper?

BOOM! Even though Floor is from my country, I fully agree with you that Tarja's voice fits this song SO much better! Althoguh this is not the best live version, I think.

While I agree that you should be open to listen to all 3 singers, which I did, and should not bash one over the other, it is also important to mention that you do not have to like all 3 on all songs equally either. Like me for example, I prefer Floor on most songs and Tarja on a few where I feel her vocal style just fits better and as for Anette I really do not gel with her at all. It is also important to mention that when someone is expressing their preferences in a non-bashing manner, that the fans of the singer that is not favoured, should not feel the need to bash the commenter either, because they do not agree with their taste. It goes both ways, I see people bashing singers and I also see fans of a singer bashing commenters because they expressed their opinion in a respectful manner. If someone expresses that they prefer a singer, without bashing the others, do not reply trying to negate their taste, just post your own comment expressing your own preference instead. That way you will not make someone else feel bad about their taste or escalate the comments into a fan war and by posting more comments, you also help the channel with the RU-vid algorithm as a bonus. 😀

Tarja and Floor are both excellent live performers with great voices and stage presence. Anette sadly not, she was good in the studio but on stage she often didn't hit the right notes, and she also had not really a stage presence like the other two. She's running across sentences in one breath. Calling out proper names. You need the lyrics to keep up with what she is singing. Racing through the song. But her tone and vowel shape fits the music so damn well. That she was 26. Damn. Then and now, Tarja is damn skillful. Enjoy what she does. Annete sang bye bye beautiful. A dig at Tarja. Floor at the point she joined nightwish was friends with Tarja. Upon learning the song was a diss of her friend she refused to ever sing that song. Which I say good. I would not expect someone to sing a song dissing floor when she leaves. That is crass behaviour. Be nice. Be positive. Like who/what you like.
