Troy is using an EBOW, or electronic Bow. Battery powered and vibrates the strings, making it sound similar to being played with a violin type bow. To put Marko's opening comments in context, this was in London, not long after the Paris nightclub bombings. The song isn't an official Nightwish song, Tuomas and Marko wrote it for the 2007 Finnish movie ,Lieksa (The Matriarch). Jukka played drums on the recording. Troy's guitar with EBOW and Floor's backing vocals, are additions to the song. Floor was intentionally hanging back, making sure Marko gets the spotlight.
Highly suggest "The Islander" (with Marko intro) live at Tampere. Also Nightwish's tribute cover to Pink Floyds: "High Hopes", beautiful, soaring vocals from Marko.
People used to joke that Marko could get a t-shirt to wear that said 'Floor Jansen is my backup singer!'. I'm glad you had the captions on. I'm familiar enough with the music, but with the captions on, I could sing along.
Another fantastic reaction by you to our beloved Nightwish. This song really highlights the lighter side of Marko's tremendous vocal talent, as does The Islander in Tampere, which you have already reacted to. Thank you.
Such a beautiful, and romantic song, along with missing those that have passed on before ua! I love it when Troy pulls out his EBOW's....I think he has a different one he uses in "The Greatest Show on Earth" which sounds like a Cello.
"Drown into eyes, while they're still blind" Unrequited love? Magical Marko, the quiet, softer and then the louder bits. Yes, Floor, as his backing singer :) Troy playing one of his many instruments, with an E-Bow.
Kiss your pet Martians 👽! This beautiful little song is made for a Finish movie "Lieksa!" (Pölönen, 2007). This live performance is perfect. And Troy is using the E-bow device to make some string sounds with his guitar.
Understandably people keep recommending "High Hopes" and "The Islander", but I'd like to see you reacting to "Endlessness", my favorite song with Marko singing lead
And yes, that’s what the title is referring to kiss while your lips are still red while you still have life in you. This is a song done for a movie and I can’t call the name of it but it’s a foreign film if you look at their official video for this one you’ll see bits of this movie.
The two different concerts Nightwish performed The greatest show on earth the Tampere concert and this one the Wembley concert. There is some differences like Tampere they had the fireworks timed with the keyboard but the Wembley version Troy has his guitar and EBOW in the beginning. If you haven't seen both versions yet it maybe worth another look at this amazing song.
Floor is not a diva who wants to be in the spotlight all the time. She - as all members of Nightwish do - steps back when the song demands it. At this concert she even abstained from dancing all over the stage at "I want my tears back" when it came to the long instrumental part so that Troy with his Uillean Pipes had all the spotlight in his home country.
@@lillianekockritz2796 Exactly my point. She sits in the number for a while and that was completely missed ("is she offstage?") - she just doesn't want to take Marco's limelight because it isn't her song.
One of my favorite songs by Marko. This is a similar situation and type song Marko did at the Tampere 2015 concert performing "The Islander" song, which you reacted to 10 months ago.
@@craigbolton5093 that's fair, at least not the same range and versatility as a singer. I do like his tone and subtlety in his choices on vocals tho. That said, Marco could lead any band (have u heard Wings of Darkness with Tarot?), while Troy is more specialized as a vocalist.
@@Liam94Smith He can sing but has expressed no will to do so in Nightwish. Floor took over some Marko parts (they delivered a full female Planet Hell during the last tour), Troy took over in other songs (Last Ride of the Day, I Want My Tears Back, 7 Days to the Wolves among others) and sometimes it's the both of them together. There are definitely some songs that we won't here live anymore but the band catalog is quite large, so...
Nice reaction, keep up the good work! 🤗 You should check recently released song "Left On Mars", from Marko Hietala feat Tarja Turunen. They came back together with new material for a first time since Tarja was released from Nightwish, and it´s so nice to hear and see that happening. 🤘
btw, Marco has been doing a lot since Nightwish. Check out Northern Kings and also he reunited with Nightwish's original singer Tarja Turunen for a solo album. So much amazing music and so little time. In this song I love that Floor was sitting in the shadows in front of the drums letting Marco have the spotlight.
If you like this side of Marco, then check out some of the live videos with his older (now broken up) band "Tarot" from Finland. I'd recommend the live video of the song "Tides".
Ray, you're adorable. Just look into marko's other work. He does a LOT. He was on masked singer, he has solo albums and northern kings is an experience of it's own.
''While Your Lips Are Still Red'' I think he means while you are still young and your lips looks red without any makeup .....and other things that happens when you get old.
Only a very special vocalist gets to have Floor as their backing singer now and again. Ladies and gentleman I give you... Marko Hietala... love you brother
Marco won Finland’s version of the masked Singer I believe in 2022. He sings everything from Backstreet Boys to Prince Elton John. You should really check that out if you want to listen to Marco and his vocals.
If you like some Markos, I'd check out their album The Sound Of Nightwish Reborn. It's got some demos on it from before Anette joined up so he did all the singing. Hearing Marko sing The Poet and the Pendulum is an experience.
You are the ONLY person on FB I've seen that caught Floor's first vocal part. It's so gentle it slips by everyone else the first time they hear it. It's at 4:40 on your video.
"While your lips are still red"... implies that the girl still has love & passion for the guy. The music video had scenes from the Finnish movie "Lieksa!" ... The song was recorded in 2007 when Anette Olzen was the singer in Nightwish and released on their live CD 'Made in Hong Kong'. Marko Hietala recently released a solo album... he had his own rock band Tarot which released a few albums w/ Marko on lead vocals and they debuted in 1986 (Marko is a lot older, age 58 today, than the members of Nightwish; Tuomas is 47)
