So I don't know if you're aware of Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas) tour here in Finland. It's a hugely popular annual tour around the country where Finnish and some foreign heavy metal artists tour around Finland and perform traditional Christmas songs with a metal twist. Marko has been involved since the beginning and Floor has taken part too for several years. Their duet of Ave Maria might be right up your alley. A very popular and traditional Finnish Christmas song sung by Marko called Varpunen Jouluaamuna is also something you might like.

It's not an official Nightwish song. Marko and Tuomas wrote it for the 2007 Finnish movie Lieksa (The Matriarch). Jukka joined them on drums for the recording. Floor's backing vocals and Troy's guitar with EBOW are additions to the song. She is sitting at the start to make sure the spotlight is on Marko. I think the EBOW (electonic bow) just adds more emotion to the music. To put Marko's intro comments in context, this concert was in Lodon, not long after the nightclub bombings in Paris.

The song has nothing to do with lipstick, its meaning is rather that you should kiss your loved ones as long as their lips are still red from the blood circulation (they still alive). Also, this has become one of my favorites. Marko had a heckuva backing singer here!

So sorry to hear what your going through. I broke down after hearing this song when my dad passed away from Pneumonia. My relationship was estranged we never spoke much until near the end when he became very unwell. I was holding his hand by his side and told him that his lungs are not absorbing oxygen and there's nothing they could do about it. I said your a fighter like your father and his father ( Both who fought in the Wars ) but it's a fight you cannot win, it's time to let go. My dad took his last breath and just went. It became peaceful his skin changed and i knew he left his vessel and was gone.

another member of the Nightwish Army here. Enjoyed your reaction and your openness and willingness to be vulnerable. it is a sign of strength. I also love dogs and cats; I volunteer and walk dogs at a shelter, and 2 months ago, I had to put my almost 16-year-old cat to sleep. I miss him every day. I'll get another cat or two, but not right now, it's too soon. Nightwish are amazing; I've heard them in person 3 times here in Martland since 2015. Floor is one of the very best singers I've ever heard, and I am a senior citizen and have heard many.

I think i can try to empathize and feel what you are feeling in these heartfelt times. My business partner whos is also one of my dear friends has been fighting cancer for the last 15 years without going into remission. He is the strongest willed person i know, but is withering away Infront of our very eyes. Still he comes to work every single day although the pain is now rife in his whole body. We can only pray some miracle happens that can turn it around. My thoughts are with you and definitely wish you all the best. And yes Nightwish music is a soothing factor for all who listen to it

I get ya. I take care of my 88 year old father who took care of me during my cancer and ailments. I'm lucky enough to have a wonderful wife who loves him as well. In the intro i teared up a bit as well. I guess taking care of my pets is my therapy as well it must be yours. You're not alone in this sentiment. It was great to see Bruno. Thanks for that. I understand what you are going through, as my mother passed last Thursday morning in her sleep. She was 90 years old. I am almost 600 miles from my hometown, and I live on a small pension, and cannot attend. I pray that your father will beat the cancer, and recover.

When I think about the excitement I always had, when I finally got a new Nightwish album or live DVD after year(s) of waiting, I couldn't have contained myself and do just one song 😅

There is a wonderful solo song by Marko called "Voice of my Father". Beautiful but might be hard to get through. Also there is a studio song by Nightwish called "Meadows of Heaven" with Annette singing that you might ... not sure enjoy is the right word, but you know. Sorry you had some bad news with your father. Forgot one, there is one called "Our Decades in the Sun" with floor from the latest album.

Marko has a beautiful voice and it was hearing him sing The Islander that first drew me to Nightwish, however I was not too enamoured with Annette singing so passed over them for a long while until I heard Floor sing with them and got confused Tarja? Annette? Floor who? What? but it was the combination of Floor and Marko together that finally hooked me, and was so disappointed I never got to hear Marko live. Nightwish I find stirs the emotions and I have loved both concerts I have seen them live in. I'm a sucker for female singers, my first crush was Sonja Kristina of Curved Air, she still has a wonderful voice that makes me come out in gooseflesh and is a wonderful person I got to meet a few years ago.

This song was made for a Finnish movie (Lieksa!), that depicted my home town as the grail of gold for the characters in the movie. The moment they first saw the town and the moment first hearing this song were so filled with youth, promise and love, that it took me years back when I was still living in that town. I visited my parents there this Christmas, and I can tell, that same spirit is very alive and well there. There is still some magic in the world.

my dad passed earlier this year, luckily we were sick so we didn't have our usual Thanksgiving dinner but, Christmas is going to hurt. They set his stone on my birthday so it wasn't time to be celebrating that.

My first wife died, in my arms, from cardiac arrest in 1999. My second wife from cancer in 2019. I was able to kiss them before they died. I still miss them both but I tell people.to kiss.....while your lips are still red. I currently am 76. Have heart and lung problems. I have decided that I AM going to a Nightwish concert. Showing emotions is being human. Ken Osiecki
