The Live version of this features Troy on guitar using an EBow. This is in place of the violin. It's equally a great version. Check it out. Thanks guys - enjoyed the reaction
This one was part of a Finnish movie soundtrack. Thus the video shots. Once again a totally different vibe from Nightwish. Much more than just a metal band.
9:40 Troy: "I've always compared this to special effects in movies. Nowadays, it is possible to use computers to make really real-looking effects, but they lack soul. It's not genuine. We want to work on music with real instruments, because it brings a certain organicity and soul to the songs that cannot be achieved by machines. These same instruments could certainly be done with keyboards, but it wouldn't sound as authentic. You can sense, even feel, a real instrument in your body. Tuomas greatly enjoys having such a palette of instruments at his disposal, and we trust our instincts as to how much of them should be used and when. Tuomas is easy to work with because he's kind of… the perfect musician, you know? His musical mind is completely open and ready for anything that comes his way. He is not absolute about what he has planned." They always record the orchestral parts in London.
Not an official Nightwish song. Marko and Tuomas wrote it for a Finnish movie in 2007. Jukka joined them for the recording. The live version at Wembley 2015 ,additionally, has Floor on backing vocals and Troy playing guitar with EBOW.
Marko really shows his vocal ability on this song. No screams, no growls, just pure singing. He really reaching in and twists the emotions in this song. Looking just at the lyrics, it is a song about young love, but as I consider it is more about living in the moment, and to the fullest. Love without reservation, and with all your soul. And follow the same philosophy in everything you do. Stay safe, God bless, and keep rocking. BTW, Marko won the 2020 Finnish version of the Masked Singer.
Nightwish albums are great. Yet their live is something even better. They have always been a live band. It doesn't matter if there's a crowd of 82000 or a crowd of 80. They will give the same passion and energy.
Many say always live but I think it's nice that you also get to know some of the album versions. It's not a bad idea to react to the album version once in a while. They put lot of hours to albums and there are usually little bit modifications to live versions. One really cool song from their latest album Human Nature. I love that you did both the video and live. Shows how great they are both in studio and live. Live just always has more magic with Nightwish :) Such a beautiful song. Sad, powerful, thoughtful, and makes you want to go hug & kiss your loved ones.
Marco, Tuomas, and Jukka N. were the only performers on the original recording. There were no guitars or female backing singers. Originally in concert it was performed without Annette or Emppu on stage.
It is not Troy in 3:10 or anywhere in this song. He did not know anything about this this band at that time when Tuomas wrote this original version for a movie "Lieksa" from which these video clips are. I am not sure, but the violin player might be the music teacher of Tuomas Mr. Plamen Dimov. See more "KIMAF".
Tomakasi gets it! "Drown into eyes while they're still blind" The other person doesn't realise, ouch. Don't like the film, with the other actors violence. Perhaps better live. Phillip is changing... "My precious"! Glad you got some inspiration.
