What’s crazy is I had these in jr high in 98 and I absolutely hated them when my GMA got em for me couldn’t appreciate them as a youngin at all but I can now for sure
The Air Max 180s in 1991 were so revolutionary especially when it opened up the concept of viewing an air cushioning system from underneath and allowed the rear part of the system to be part of the traction system during compression every step similar to the Avia cantilever sole unit. I don't think Nike did anything else similar to this system after the 180.
@DKriticos look wise they tried to revisit the open air bag under foot visuals and stuff but failed on performance... but one thing that was Ridiculous about this model and always will be white felt upper Really?? they are high end Dirt Magnets !!
One thing I noticed comparing with my 2018’s is the smell- they use different glues now so the new ones don’t smell too great, but the 2018’s transported me back, still DS and have exact same smell 😊
Another great (and needed) comparison video! Another reminder that “no retro can beat an OG.” But we must say, this 2024 180 retro is one of the more impressive, detail oriented retro’s ever in the line. Puts all previous 180 retro silhouette’s to shame. We appreciate you!
Thanks fir this video, it was Exactly what I was looking for! I was really looking forward to this release but when I saw the pictures I was disapointed as they just looked off and where not like I remembered them in my youth. I decided to pass on these and after seeing this video I'm glad I did. When Adidas brought back the ZX 7000 Torsion in the og colorway to celebrate 30 years of Torsion it was just spot on and exactly like the picture in my head. But with these I didn't have the same feeling and after all the raving by people on how good these retro 180's are I was doubting if I made a mistake but after your video I know my feeling was right.
Yeah man, they are nice but not super close like the am90 or am 1 big bubble when talking og specs. An improved retro yet far from perfect but I'll definitely enjoy rocking these.
GREAT REVIEW as always!! Been waiting for this review so THANK YOU! My friend in junior high had the originals (91’) and upon first seeing the retro, although good, I did remember the toe being sleeker so thanks again for proving my memory correct!
My pleasure, yeah the new toe box looks decent but not OG cut. Very different, the lasts and construction back in the 80s and 90s remain unmatched for most models.
Don't suppose you could scan the original booklet or leaflet and upload it on one drive or some other uploading site so I could download it and print it off please?
The new pair is the best 180 retro to-date...one of the most underrated silouettes out there. Wish they wouldn't wait so long to release them...get a group of colorways and then nothing for 5+/- years.
The '24 toe still looks like a boat. The whole overall shape is off. Why is it so hard to create the same thing...?? I had two og pairs in the early '90. Best looking runner ever. 😍
Hi. Thanks for this review/comparison. And about the "bubble translucid shield", included to the outsole, is it same hardness on the OG? Because the 2024 is really stiff
Not at all, if they were worn cleaned etc then possibly. The cloth/nylon materials themselves as brand new don't deteriorate over time like polyurethane nor does the shape/cut.
Not exactly lol.. just reality check as many saying these are spot on like military4 etc. Still a nice release and well improved from 2018 fuglyness lol
@@ogorbust1697 They are 100% percent better than the previous retros, but not a carbon copy of the OGs. I think that's impossible to achieve because of the different production processes, materials and there's that cost thing. They could have made a exact copy of the OGs, but my guess is that was too costly to make, so they (Nike) settled for 95%.
