The logo on the heel is actually a unagi, which is a specialty in Urawa. It's also in the shape of the hiragana う which is the first character for the word Urawa in Japanese.
I saw these sitting at a local store and it was OK in hand. I wasn't impressed with the materials. Kinda stiff feeling. Nike has been cutting corners a lot on materials the last few years.
Great review as always! So many people watch your reviews but not enough people hit the like button! As for the shoe, my understanding is that this represents the colourway of the teams away kit while the OG pair was the home colourway. I just wish that they had given the outsole some colour. Black and red sole would have made all the difference and broken up all of that white colour.
Great review Sean! I honestly would rather see something similar to what they did with the Crepe Hemp last year where the CW was closer to the original with subtle changes. But appreciate what they are doing by keeping that OG pair special. It’s a solid wearable CW although I wish they put some color on the outsole to add some contrast.
I will start by saying that these AM1’s look amazing since I first saw the leaked pics. Just wish the tongue would of been black. Waiting for mine. On another note, I agree with you on the disappointment of having AM1’s not made identical and the little discrepancies you can’t keep looking at and wish you had a pair in unison. My crepe hemp’s and tree lines have inconsistent patterns that irk me but continue to rock them, and have to say they are my unique pairs. But I feel your pain. Great review!
Love these shoes great video Sean but I do wish Nike would release the originals as well, being that they’re from 2004 even people who are lucky enough to own a pair probably couldn’t wear them because the soles would crumble, unfortunately us Air Max heads are left waiting for a retro that Nike will never release 😢
I don't think you got a duff pair, I think that the QC from Nike is currently abysmal. I picked up a pair of Forum 84 High in the NY vs NY, they're flawless. The Jordan 2 A MA MANIERE I got, have glue stains galore. And they're meant to be some of the very best quality available.
Definitely an air max 1 guy but it's just a bit plain for me. 💖 Bring back VioTech AM1 in true form. People aren't gonna care about these. (As if I have stocks in Nike and care if the sell) I'd rather have them as cheap as possible. But the CW is easy to combine. 💖
They dropped the ball on these a bit imo. Good, but doesn’t really hold a candle to the OG. Nike totally BLEW IT on the keep ripping stop slipping 2.0s that are coming out.
