Sprinkle a little baking powder inside your shoes to absorb the smell. Leave it in until you have to use them, then just remember to bang or vacuum it out. If you wash your shoes, on a cold wash, add vinegar with your choice of detergent & viola, smell gone. Works with sweaty running clothes too!!
Had my first run with my 38s today. Like you, I enjoyed hitting that air zoom bag! I am a midfoot striker and when I do midfoot, I don’t feel the zoom bag. It felt smooth but no fun. I did some fartlek in the end of my run today and landed more forefoot and I was like, wow! That zoom bag feels good. Also like you, I find the 37s to be flat and not enjoyable.
I think the Pegasus line up has this strange attribute of being nobody's favourite shoe, and nobody is excited to get them, but all of a sudden you've done 300 km in them. :D
I actually didn’t mind the 37 to be fair they worked quite well for me, the 38 seem to be getting more praise, so I’m tempted to stick with the Peg range this year
The 38s are a horrendous. I'm a long distance runner that clocks anywhere between 30 to 45 miles weekly. The shoe is f-in heavy, at 294 grams (size 44,5) its heavier than my nike trails by roughly 25 grams per shoe and around 50 grams per shoe heavier than my old old elite 9's . You can talk all that extra cushion you want, if you're goal is to mess up your feet this is the right shoe to do it with. Long distance shoes should be light, not heavy. Back in the day when cushioning was BIG (2014/15), nike lunarglides were 275g per shoe and that was considered to be heavy, yet the feeling of running on clouds at 35km compensated for that. Nothing you'll get from stiff and heavy pegasus.
Mine arrived this morning so I unboxed, laced up and went out for a short run with the dog. Felt vanilla on pavement but oddly came alive once I hit the trails which was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. As a forefoot runner, going uphill using that air unit really good. I think Nike could add some toe box protection and rebadge it as a Trail 3 'Lite'. It is definitely a warm shoe with that upper and feels more like a Kyrie or a KD when you put on and lace up rather than a running shoe. Toe box doesn't feel any larger to me and it actually felt a touch narrower in the mid foot right where the lower 2 lace loops are located. I was wearing a thicker sock than I normally would but compared to a 36 or a Trail 2, it's little narrower. Weight didn't bother me but then I've been running a lot in a Trail 2 GTX which isn't exactly a light shoe either. Overall I like it for a first run and as I'll be using mainly for a road and trail mix, the trail performance will be a welcome bonus.
Cheers Edward, how about a league table for all the long run shoes you have received?? Only criteria is enjoyment. Would be interesting placing the new test shoe in it each week??
Won’t be picking this up Edd. I’ve got a great rotation; Nike React Infinity run 2, Nike Zoomx Invincible, Saucony Endorphin Speed and I have the NB Rebel V2 on the way ! 😊
Good stuff. Glad to hear you’re enjoying the 38...I had the same issues as you did with the 37 so I may need to put this on my daily radar. But first I will go enjoy this spring weather and have a delicious adult beverage.
Come on Edd check out Milburn plenty of stuff on RU-vid. I recommend What About Next Time or What You Could've Won 🤣 As for the Pegasus 38 it looks good, may be tempted to go back to them after my 37 variant hiatus.
Oh joyful day. Going to order shoes!! Btw, I never rid my shoes of stench. But if my wife follows her nose to a stinky pair she’ll put them in the wash 😂
Thanks for the honest review. I’m curious if it’s really only the upper that makes it a better shoe than the 37. I’ve run about 40 miles in my pair of 37s and they still feel somewhat harsh and unforgiving. It’s not terrible, but noticeable, and I wouldn’t wear them when my legs are already sore or tired. In fact, even the Tempo Next% feels much more comforting. Since the 37s are my first pair of the Pegasus line, I wonder if they’ve always been like that. Aren’t they meant to be an everyday training option for (almost) everyone? 😅
Certainly the 35/36 was better out the box. The 38 just seems to work for me. Maybe they have changed the midsole?! Who knows with Nike. I’m not sure even they know sometimes! 😂
@@EDDBUD Call me superstitious, but sometimes even two pairs of the same model feel completely different from each other. As if the colours used for the midsole somehow alter the properties of the foam - a ridiculous idea... maybe just my mind playing tricks on me. 😂
Argghhh... I really struggle with the fit of my Peg37, heel slippage is real. Using the runners' knot, sometimes I cinch too tight and sometimes not enough and the heel still slipped. The tongue also too thin and short. But once it all goes right, I enjoyed it.. I too aim to land on the airbags almost like a game haha. Really hope 38 solved the 37 issues but then I gave a thumbs down for adding weight. The 37 is already heavy. Tq for the video.
I wash my feet and put on clean socks. When I’ve finished running I spray the inside of the shoes with Febreze. Luckily none of my rotation smell sweaty
The Skechers GoRun 8 hyper is a particularly smelly shoe in my collection. Not sure why but they really retain the foul, sweaty smell quite well. Have to keep them in the garage it is so bad. 3/3 for sure
I put tea bag in each shoe after run especially effective using fruity flavours works for me, then.again i actually like pegasus 37 may be only person who does 🙄
I wouldn't classify the rebel 2 as a daily trainer. Not anywhere near enough support for a huge number of runners. Not everyone wants some much cushion and squash in the midsole.
Tried these on in a Nike store today and they felt really hot! Personally I felt that there was less wiggle room for the toes compared to the peg 37 - or was it just me?
Last time I tried Pegasus 37 in the store and I could not get my foot in the shoe. Really narrow and small. Trying to find something that fits me good other than the Novablast and the NB1080...
I just put 1495 km on my pegasus 37. The heel has just worn out but the treads, midsole and upper are still in great shape. I run about a 86 minute half marathon (only on my own and never in a race). Would these shoes be a faster and/or more durable than the 37s?
