I’m an age group triathlete and I share the same opinion that you have about the Alphafly. The solution I’m using to put this shoe on seems to be ridiculous but it works: a shoehorn.
@Alan-Smith

I really struggle with the arch pain of the Alphafly 2. Got them for a good price, so the tough decision is to either send them back, or remove the glued in inners and replace with slightly wider ones!

I actually like Alphafly 2 over my Alphafly 1 because it feels so much better in the toebox. I used my alphafly 1 for my first marathon and i blistered big time. Alphafly 2 no problems at all! Great review of the new shoes.

I usually wear Hoka but saw the atomknit ones for £89! At cheshire oaks on black friday and had to buy them. First time wearing them I took 46 seconds off my 5k time. Might of been fresh legs but never felt so good on my legs, i’m struggling to not wear them every run and only save them for pbs

If you cut the upper, you stand a good chance to ruin the integrity of the fit. I would avoid all attempts to modify the shoe. Regarding the tight fit, what I did is just wore the shoe day after day. I walked around in them , I would do foot folds with them on, calf lunges, any routine that made my feet bend while the shoe was on to stretch them. Another tactic to try if time is of the essence is get several wash clothes completely wet, saturate them with water. Stuff these wet wash clothes in the shoe until you cant get anymore in the shoe. Let them sit overnight. In the morning, remove the wash clothes then immediately put the shoes on and wear them for a day, repeat as necessary. Nowadays putting on these shoes takes no longer than any other shoe. That being said, I still rely on the pull tabs its just that today, the process is a lot easier. You will never get the shoe to be like a slip on. But that is deliberate to the design. The snug fit is done purposefully as it reduces heal slippage and makes foot and shoe more of a single entity performing the same task.
@Josh_lewis
@Josh_lewis Год назад
These are all fantastic recommendations and definitely things I will try in the future! If only you were a day or so earlier and I may not have already gone at them and put them under the knife. If i didn’t need to get them on quickly then they were literally a perfect fit. I haven’t cut them much and I’ve put elastic laces on them to try and keep that structure. Will have to see how it goes tomorrow! Thanks for the advice

You swing your arms a lot when you run. Which is ok but swinging inwards with your hands and forearms wastes energy and it makes your chest smaller. It causes a rock back and forth in your torso. Relax and keep your arms straight, like the drive pistons on a train. They don't go in or out, just back and forth. If you're into cars, adjust the tow of your arms.
@Josh_lewis
@Josh_lewis Год назад
Great advice! I’ll try and use that as a cue tomorrow for the race and hopefully run with a bit better arm and leg tracking. Either way plenty to work on over the off season, thanks!

When I watch Hayden Wild run, it’s obvious arm location doesn’t make much difference.
@MrEsPlace
@MrEsPlace Год назад
@@joshpain349 if Nike can release a shoe with a 4% return of energy and that be beneficial enough to matter. Then, small things count, like keeping your head up and your chest open. Just because other people do it, doesn't air it right. Know how many people are on PEDs? Doesn't make it right. Allowing your arms to bounce too much wasted energy. Anything that I wasteful in an Ironman is a waste.
@davidlynch9049

Had them in a box for 2 years. Did a flat 13 miles and just couldn’t get comfortable. I felt like I was off the ground and couldn’t feel the ground. I felt like I wasn’t transfering force. It was good for my achilles tendon but bad for my gait. I did feel like I didn’t actually run at the end of workout so maybe I just need to accustom to the rebound. Because of other comments I may try again on the treadmill so I can swap them out when it feels so discombobulated.

Interesting Josh, I've seen such extreme reviews of the V2, people seem to either really love or really hate them!! Me I LOVE LOVE LOVE the original Alphafly even though I'm a really really slow runner and have only one marathon under my belt, soon to add number 2!! I had to go a full size up but actually I love all the massive toe room that that gave me. Last month a snaggled another pair of V1s for only €123!!!!!! 😁😁😁
@Josh_lewis
@Josh_lewis Год назад
That’s a bargain! And yeh completely personal preference. I think some of the data suggests they are a margin Ly better shoe economically than the V1, but as long as you’re comfortable and happy then that’s the main thing!

I put about 90 to 100 miles on alphafly 1 and they damaged my feet during a half marathon. If you have low arches or wide feet avoid these like the plague. The reviews won't say this though.
@Josh_lewis
@Josh_lewis Год назад
Yeh I can’t comment on the long term effects but I did manage to use them in my most recent race and thought they were really good to be fair. I know what you mean though, they are a bit tight width wise, however I have pretty average feet all around
@SergiuSalcau00

What does low arches mean? I did a run yesterday in my Alphafly 1 and it felt a bit weird and today i can t say i feel recovered or that they protected my legs all that much so i dunno what the think about my pair. @Sergiu Salcau low arch on your feet. The alphafly is a race shoe so not really made for comfort but they do save your legs towards the end of long distance runs. They either work for you or don't I found. If they don't just move on they don't get any better or habe any break in time.
