I loved the GP Turbos and was hopeful that with the dual zoom unit that this shoe would be similar in comfort and cushion as the GP Turbos so I bought a pair. Unfortunately I'm severely disappointed and back to lobbying Nike to bring back or rerelease the GP Turbos. These aren't a bad shoe (although a little stiff in the forefoot and heel lockdown is not there - no extra eyelet for runner's knot) they just have no where near the cushion and comfort that all of us GP Turbo wearers love. Come on Nike. You rereleased the Vapor 9.5 so how about the GP Turbo???
@FootDoctorZach

Yeah they arent terrible but I mean...you had the blueprint with the turbo...why did they go to this design??

Thank you Zach, very useful video! Mine arrived today (clay version in Europe). Just couldn't wait anymore as my pair of Zoom NXT literally died (upper lace part broke in multiple places - I played them so much for over a year!). The Challenge 1 broke in within 30 mins and felt good. A bit tighter than my previous pair (Zoom NXT, was longer and roomier in front), and a bit heavier, but good stability on clay. Will be testing performance more tomorrow when I will play an actual match, but so far quite happy! Thanks for your video on the pro, which encouraged me to try the challenge 1 instead. Keep up the great work!

Bought two pairs of these. The looks in my opinion are wayyyy better than the turbos. Playability, as well as comfort, I did enjoy the turbos a little more than these. With that said, I am so glad Nike came out with these. I’m very happy with them and can’t wait to see what other color ways they come out with for them. Awesome review as always Zach.

Are they as “plush” as GP Turbo? Meaning GP Turbo felt like I had padding all over my foot especially heel and balls of feet. Almost every other shoe I get some pain but those GP Turbos were great. Great review!

Just got the challenge pro in 10.5. My vapor lites felt a little narrow at 10.5 and the pros are not much different. Always been a 10.5 in most shoes except Nike tennis it seems. Do you think 10.5 in challenge 1 would be a better fit? I notice you said normal to 2e go true to size.

I ordered both to be able to compare side by side (thanks Nike for the 60 days wear test return policy). Pros feel decent although I haven’t had them on court yet. I’m excited to get the challenge 1’s in hand. My guess is the pros will be the better seller based on the retail pricing.

Not a reflection on your channel but bit heartbroken theres no full length strobal unit like the gp turbo, never have i felt a shoe improve my speed and jump height more than that shoe. Is there any basketball shoe that incorporates that amazing part of the gp turbo that i could bring to the tennis court? Bring it back Nike what are you doing over there, bring the gp turbo back or atleast everything in the midsole! Feels like nike and addidas both are releasing shoes that are less exciting and quality then the ones they were doing from 3 years ago. My moneys going to NB and Diadora at the moment, honestly nike just re release the gp turbo the demand is there!
@walterwinston4935
@walterwinston4935 3 месяца назад
Which NB shoe you wear that’s comparable to the GP Turbo? I loved the Turbo. I wish Nike would bring it back. I’ve been debating trying NB but not sure which one I would like.

We need a gp turbo with better ankle support and thinner upper. This ones are very different than the turbos I had to go back.

Just wonder if the medial side of the lace eyes (the strip loop ones), are they easy to break? I'm still struggling between GP Challenge Pro vs. GP Challenge 1 mainly because of the lace eye designs.

I know you touched on it a little in the video but do these shoes slip in the heel past break in to? or over time are these going to slip less as they break in a bit more? Also, even though these shoes don't have a 6-month guarantee, do you think these shoes are durable enough to last that long if they did. thank you for vids!
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 9 месяцев назад
I don’t know tbh- most of mine didn’t last 4-6 months when I was playing competitively but I would guess it will last - yeah I didn’t really notice the slippage at all on court they just were so easy to slip on and off and yeah break in will help a lot
@theachaplin3276

My move is to always buy directly from Nike and take advantage of their 60 day return policy. 🤷‍♂️
@SeanJohnson-v8v
@SeanJohnson-v8v 9 месяцев назад
Just one last thing to ask, I saw that you said no to the shoe being good for clay, why is that? I would think the thinner pattern on one side would dig in well. Also did you mean these shoes were not a great lockdown like the v11 and vp2, or are you comparing these to the v11 and vp2 commenting that these are worse.
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 9 месяцев назад
These have a much more flimsy ankle collar so your heel can kinda boss the rearfoot around vs the v11 and vp2 which are more stout and have the runners knot option on the lateral side which helps suck you into the shoe plus it’s all foam in the heel of those which breaks in and allows more seating. As for clay- the herringbone laterally is really narrow channeled so you’ll lose grip quick- if the treads were further apart then fine , also the herringbone under the medial side it’s flat and , although you can make it work, it’s not ideal
@Andy-uk8qw
@Andy-uk8qw 6 месяцев назад
2E with lots of forefoot and ankle history here. I've been super successful with the Nikecourt Zoom NXT for the past couple years, but looks like they are being axed. I tried these this evening and am a little scared of the forefoot safety (feels thinner than NXT), and the fact that adding a Move Gameday gave me heel slip. do you have a good rec for a transitional shoe coming from the NXT? Thanks!
@FootDoctorZach
@FootDoctorZach 6 месяцев назад
That’s an oddly specific shoe with the tread bridge and weird fit characteristics - the gel res 9 has the build stiffness and fit but otherwise pretty different - that’s a tough one to match up tbh
@Tennis85
@Tennis85 9 месяцев назад
Are these shoes good for someone with flat/wide feet or one who suffers with plantar fasciitis? Nike has made shoes primarily for people with narrow feet I feel and it’s been a while since I found a pair of comfortable Nike tennis shoes.

@chriskessler393
@chriskessler393 9 месяцев назад
Am I the only one that found these shoes to fit really short? Regular size, my toes were pressed against the front of the shoe. The width felt great but had to go up a half size to get a proper length fit. I've never experienced a shoe that felt so short, usually if the fit is small it's because the width is narrow. So far after a few matches in these, they feel like a more nimble version of the GP Turbo but not as plush and lacking in the rear foot lockdown. I also really noticed that rocking feeling, back to front, when serving. Solid shoe to throw in the rotation when you play a lot and need to give your feet a break with a more plush feeling.

I bought these based on your review here and they are the most uncomfortable tennis shoes I have ever bought. They have zero cushioning and your big toe jams off the top of the shoe even if you go a size bigger than normal..awful awful shoes. The only positive thing I can say is that they do provide some support to the ankle.
