Had to break this in through two games. Now it works GREAT. That overkill of zoom and air really protects my feet and knees. Worth the price! Thinking of doubling up. Now I know why this is Nikola Jokic’s favorite.
I’m giving a second opinion on this shoe. I went back to my true size after going up half a size. That wasn’t the real issue. My foot moving up and down in the shoe leading to pain and some lateral pinching. To my horror I pulled out the insole and it was super thick and foamy, the goal being to conform to your foot over time. So I changed out to a thinner firmer insole and the potential of this shoe was unleashed. No hot spots, no foot pain, no unnecessary movement of my foot inside the shoe. The firmer arch support insoles help neutralize some of the motion of the heel air zoom bag which should have been pumped up a few psi’s. That stock insole has got to go, and the change gave me a little more comfort and space in the toe box. These are a definite go. Thanks for the vid.
Phenomenal review Zach! I've seen 5 reviews on this sneaker and yours was by far the most complete and most educational. The tabs outlining the tech were incredibly helpful. The pros and cons were great to see and consider. Other than weighing the shoe which another viewer did you gave me everything I would need to make my decision. Being a facilitating 3 who attacks the boards and has to play lock down defense on the wing, I think these are worth a shot. What do you think? Anyways thank you for this review, super helpful and great quality!
Just got a pair of these with my decision being heavily influenced by your review and I'm very happy. I played in them yesterday and love them. I wanted a shoe with excellent cushioning and impact protection as I'm almost 37 and 103kg and need to minimise wear and tear on my knees and feet and these shoes are fantastic for that. Thanks for your review Zach, keep up the good work.
I'm a 100+ kg player but I prefer lighter shoes as I defend on perimeter a lot. However GT Jump is on my must-buy list and after Zach's review I'm now double sure I'm getting them as soon as they become available
Excellent review! I love how you go over all the tech specs and seeing the cushion and air max when the shoe is cut in half is really cool and informative compared to just illustrations (I thought it was a gimmick at first). I would cop one of these, but the two available colorways don't look great imo, waiting for a nicer colorway
Not gonna lie, I watch a ton of Shoe-tube channels. But this video was very refreshing and probably the most in-depth review I've seen. You gained a sub. Keep this style up!!! P.S. You and all the other Shoe-Tubers who massacre shoes on RU-vid can band together and form a charity where you donate all the undestroyed shoes to people with one leg. You can call it One Sole for One Soul.
Hey, Dr. Zach, just wanted to thank you for all of your extremely informative videos. I truly enjoy the way you scientifically break down shoes and explain their mechanics and how they work with our bodies. It really gives us better insight as to what we should spend our hard earned dollars on and which shoes will work with our body and what will not. For someone (me) with double planter fasciitis, sciatica, and a bent spine, your videos really help me out. Thank you. Please keep them coming!!!!
I started up playing basketball again and used your channel to help me select some new shoes. I landed in the Dame 8. Unfortunately first game back I ruptured my Achilles. That was 2 month ago. I just got the Jumps in all white for walking around the house in while recovering. I’m hoping to get back to the court to at least shoot around. I do like the Jumps for the extra locked in feel and overall support.
Hey hey hey...what?! The magnifier...first you had the best and novel durability test (with the sand paper) now you upped the game again. Hmmm I dig it😎
Looking to pick these up for volleyball. Sounds like a good fit for a sport that's based on reaction time and jumping a lot. I swayed away from Lebrons because they were too heavy even though the cushion was great for jumping and impact protection.
They don’t have the forefoot stability of some other models so just watch for that specific to volleyball other than that they’d be awesome for vertical movement and reaction like you said
@@FootDoctorZach A little late but what do you mean by the shoe lacking forefoot stability? It is overly tipsy side to side because of lack of prominent outrigger?
@@SpiderHamPeterPorker did you get them? I’m thinking of these for volleyball but not sure cause of the poor traction on dusty courts. How do you like them
Was super excited to get a pair of these before i saw this video and now I'm even more hyped! Seems like an ideal shoe for my size and play style and generally like one of the best shoes on the market. Great and complete review Zach! Can't wait to get my feet in these.
I really like this shoe. One big problem is The heel/ankle support plastic cuts in to the bottom/back of my outer-right ankle when I change directions to the right. Gotta return; that could cause an injury.
I actually got 2 pairs of these, planning on getting 1 more when these go on sale in the outlets, the cushion alone gets me excited even when wearing this casually haha!
Hi Zach, thank you for all of your helpful videos.Would you suggest powerstep-esque orthotics for athletes with high-arch rigid foot types as well? Also, do you think they would have the same effect for soccer athletes in cleats?
Depends on you specific foot and needs with it - i never recommend the same thing to everyone- id have a sports med specialist in your area examine you
Was waiting for your video on these because these looked like absolute beasts from other reviewers and i really wanted to get your take and a look at the inner workings of the shoe. Thanks Zach!
Do you know the thickness of the stock insole? Looking for a good replacement insole but don't want it to be twice the size of the stock insole and have my foot be sitting way higher. Thanks for all the great content! By far the most in depth shoe reviewer on youtube🙌
Great review! I’m super excited for these shoes. I have seen Jokic wearing these in different colorways that look really great. I’m waiting for those different colors before I order mine.
I like these vids, but it'd be really cool if every 6 months or so, you take the best shoes in that period and do a heads-up test for suicide, jump, etc. in the same day. Like GT Jump vs Cut vs Run vs Lebron 19 vs Jordan 36. And maybe also similar comparisons of Lebron 16~19, Jordan 33~36, etc. You're the only reviewer that actually tries to quantify "bouncy" and such, and I think a same-day comparison like that would take these video reviews to the next level.
Mannn, anyone else think these look(personally haven't tried but they look comfy for sure) like how Nike Shox should've felt?? Like could you imagine... if they reengineer the Shox tech (gimmicky sure haha, but the aesthetics...🔥) to function like these zoom pods? 🤔 Edit: Now imagine if the BB4... protro'd with all this new technology: (zoom shox lol, pebax + react, etc lol) n we got to see Vince turn back the ⏰ in em lol)
Nike actually said this shoe is the realization of what they meant for the Shox to be back in the day (not only “boingy” and bouncy in name but actually bouncy for real).
I wanted to like the Gt Jumps more than my Lebron 19's but i honestly like my Fast Food 19's better!! I do love my Jumps so much i ordered the Gt Cut 2 in racer blue and plan to get the Runs but for me the 19's fell better maybe because i got them in a size 9 and the Jumps in my normal 9.5...my only issue with the Lebrons is the pointed high top and all the plastic but still a nice looking shoe that will probably last me awhile!! Plan to get another pair and put them up then pull um out when he retire and all his shoes blow up!! I do plan to get the Oreo 20's for myself as a Christmas gift...just wanna get me a nice shoe collection and decent wardrobe before i move so that i don't have to worry about needing clothes or shoes anytime soon
Awesome review Zach! Do you know if the EP versions on EBay, such as the one you bought, has a wider toe box (I heard EP versions sold in Asia are made with a wider last) and XDR rubber outsole? If the toe box is already pretty narrow on this EP version, I’m worried that the North American release will be unbearably narrow for me.
These are my favorite shoes to wear..I wish I could get this cushion set up on a smaller shoe lol. I can't fit shoe covers over them. I work in surgery...so strictly hooping🔥
Just fyi, just like in tennis, toe box durability isn't about whether it could withstand contact with your opponent's shoe. It's about whether it could withstand toe drags against the ground. Rigidity structures are involved in protection against getting stepped on, but that wouldn't be tested with your Dremel right?
@@FootDoctorZach I was responding to what you said in the video that unless your opponent has sandpaper on their shoes, you should be good. Pretty sure your toes would hurt, sandpaper or not, lol.
I've been trying to find these and Jordan xxxvi's in 10.5 but can't find them anywhere. I'm 5'9", 165lbs, looking for the best all-rounder. Nike fits me well, and I'm wishing I could get my hands on both of these, but since I can't, what's your suggestion for a comparable option that may still be in stock somewhere?? Thanks!
when I land on the ball of my foot on my why not 1 which has full length zoom, it does suffer from not having a solid pebax which this one have. In short it bottoms out
@@FootDoctorZach I've got the shoes they came yesterday! I liked them they feel light on feet and low to the ground! They make a noise in the heel of the right shoe I think is the zoom strobel unit and the pebex and the zoom unit all combined! Will it go after playing? I'm wondering!!!
Hey Zach, how do these compare to the KD14 underfoot? I’d really like to try the gt jumps, but the zoom strobel in the KD14 feels way too soft underfoot for my taste. Also, do you have any recommendations for more supportive insoles that don’t add very much heel height?
These feel pretty similar to the KD, maybe a tad stiffer but still same zoom strobel feel- I have a video on the insoles coming out Monday you'll want to check out
The amount of 19'8" two point shots you show yourself shooting is making me die inside lol. Coach always said it was the worst shot in basketball. All jokes aside awesome information as always.
These sneaks keep giving me blisters on my pinkie toes. I have wide feet. Any recommendations? Bought these cause everyone was giving them good reviews
@@FootDoctorZach thanks for the reply, any suggestions for a different ball sneak? Read the jordan 36, kyrie 8, kd 15 are pretty good but if you have a suggestion on a sneaker for wider feet I’d appreciate it. These gt jump feel great besides them not giving much room near the top of my feet/pinky toes.
I bought this shoe because of your review. 🙌🏽 But I recognize that every time I wear it the outside of my foot starts to hurt/ feel sore. Does anyone have the same problem?
Gotta say I loved these shoes! So amazing. Unfortunately the heel zoom popped in my right foot. Bought June 29 and they died 16 September. So upsetting
I’m late but do you think these will be good for people with chronic shin splints ?? I’m looking for a basketball shoe because all I’ve been able to play in is the hoka running shoes without shin splints
I’ve got bad old ankles from injury in my younger days, do u recommend these? I can’t play in lows and the Jordan 36 already gave me a tweak sprain welcome
I can grab the rim at 5-9 wearing Pual George 4. Will these GT Jumps grant me the ability to dunk a tennis ball? Also, the LBJ 18s literally destroye both of my ankles. Do the GT Jumps protect from ankle rolls?
Zach is there a similar shoe for tennis? I recently had an ankle injury when my ankle turned over moving sideways so would need support for my peace of mind.
