Just talked to two of the members on the design team for this shoe the other day. They were at our office and were giving us a whole lot of technical information on this product. The team started the research for this shoe by targeting the main reason why casual runners sustain injuries: impact and improper running technique. The stress on your knees and legs while running was of their biggest concern, so they put 24% more foam than their previous flagship models (the Pegasus) to combat the transfer of energy to your legs on impact. I got to watch videos of them putting motion capture sensors on the shoe while somebody ran in them so that they could nail down the three layer knit construction. Basically the result was the most user-friendly running shoe possible that would help the consumer run smarter and correctly. I can see that miss Nightwing lands on the outside of her foot while running, and that causes her foot to roll inward upon transition. That instep is what the fluidity of this shoes rocker is able to fix when you focus on a proper heel contact when running and not striding on the balls of your feet. Cool shoe. Cool design.
The shoe has a 9mm drop, that in itself isn't "great" for knees. Nike is one of the few companies left who isn't offering low drop options. Hoka exploded in popularity because it solved knee pain for many runners. It wasn't merely the super soft cushioning that did so, its biggest reason was the 5mm drop. 6mm to 0mm is the sweet spot for our knees which 0mm being the best because that's barefoot stance. Nike does have a 4mm running shoe, but it's a trail runner, Nike offers nothing for the street.
@@vaxick The drop conversation is a strange one in shoes right now. The Nike design teams on Beaverton's campus will assure you for days that there's no real scientific benefit behind having or not having drop in your running shoe in our modern setting. One of the designers was very adamant that we have messed up our own feet anatomically through the bad shoes we wear, and our ancestry has evolved out of being flat-footed enough to see actual benefit from a zero drop. I'm not saying it's true or not. It just kind of makes sense. There are definitely going to be people out there of the correct descent that are capitalizing on zero drop (Kenyan Olympians, for example), but your average Joe american is usually not going to see any scientific benefit. Arch support is something we never should have even created for our feet. It's evolving our feet to experience more pain issues than positives. Companies like Altra and Hoka exploded in popularity due to the flat foot movement, but it's honestly just too late for most of our feet, drop or not.
Hey Guys. What are your thoughts on the new Nike React Infinity Run? Will you be adding them to your running or casual rotation? Let us know. And as always, thanks for watching, liking and subscribing!
I’ve been set with my sneaker game for awhile now, not really interested in anything new. But love this channel, so I stop by just to shoot a like. Keep it up man. Y’all keep it real.
hey guys, just leaving another comment because I found this review to be real in depth, as honest and personable as possible and these are things I look for when looking at reviews especially for running sneakers as comfort and performance is what we really need in our running kicks. several valid points were made and I love how you incorporate 2 points of views being yours and your wife's in these reviews. All in all, this one was definitely highly informative and provided me with everything I need to know to determine if I'm gonna make my next shoe in my 2-3 running sneaker rotation that I'm trying to develop, especially after hearing you need to have a rotation, as I've been running in a pair of Brooks transcends which I LOVE for my feet that are relatively flat and require that extra pronation support. Loved the vid incase I haven't mentioned already
So the 2019 ultra boost has a lot of boost and it’s a very wide shoe. The epic react flyknit 2 is not as wide. Now the 2020 ultra boost is not as wide as the 2019 and now the next gen react infinity flyknit is wider. This isn’t a bad thing but at least they are watching each other’s projects closely.
I’ve recently started running and I can honestly say traction is so important to me. I usually run in all terrain areas because I get mad shin splits in concrete. So running in grassy areas It’s important to have good traction.
I just want to add that ever since you’ve added NightWife/WifeWing whether it be her making comments behind the camera or having her in the video I’ve enjoyed your videos way more because they have became more entertaining and I love the interactions and jokes you guys make every now and then in the videos. Keep it up Nightwing2303 ☺️🙏🏻
Great video bro, whenever I'm having a bad day watching your videos always makes me feel better and takes my mind off things. Sounds stupid that shoe videos make my day, but they do lol
Bought the first epic react flyknit(the green one) and my feet definitely felt like busting out of the shoes. Ended up giving them to my brother, who's got just about one size smaller feet and fitted perfectly.
Yup, already on sale from $160 to $120. Best part about React Flyknit is how clean you can keep em. I use resolve carpet cleaner, still have 2 pairs of 1s and 2s, the sole is pretty much gone so I'll need to replace soon, but aesthetically they definitely don't look their age. Great shoe.
I tried this out at the store. i have a high arc foot that is prone to pain after long periods of standing. After trying this out, it felt so amazing. The design is very good but the comfort was so damn amazing. Kinda pricey. But thinking of getting it
Have two pairs of Flyknit react 2s. Put a ton of miles in both on my jogs and had to cop a 3rd on clearance before they were gone forever. Rotate between the 3, love those bad boys but now that the Infintiy is on sale and have more react in I’m about to pick some up this weekend 🔥 I used to hate Nike running shoes and used the Puma Faas series but react has been great for me. These better not let me down
Great review done by the both of you. I know the shoe is touted as being capable of preventing or reducing injury, did Mrs. Nightwing feel that the shoe helped with her form?
I almost waited for these but decided on a pair of Pegasus 36’s. Will be breaking those out Saturday. May pick up a pair of these either when they have a sale or release a color way I really like.
what up weartesters... quick word of advice- YOUR GIRL PRONATES!!! if she keeps running in shoes without medial stability, she may develop knee/ankle problems down the road... try getting her a pair of nike air zoom structures or brooks adrenalines!! her knees will thank her!
I very interested in this shoe although I'm not feeling that colorway. I'm glad Nike opened up the toebox for this shoe because as much as I love my Epic React's, them joints be murdering my toes on runs longer than an hour
Thanks guys for the review. How's the knit around the ankles & achilles area? Was it rubbing your skin when you are using no-show socks? I have adidas shoes with similar knit ankle style and it rubs badly in the achilles area, even for just walking and I need to use high cut socks.
We vote 👎 for no shows with these. What’s seen in the thumbnail is what was worn for all the testing. That average height. The collar is kind of loose and is a material that would rub over time.
Great review! Lol! @ hulking out. Definitely enjoying this shoe a lot. My first time running in facts after only buying them casually. What part of Cali are you based?
Please test the New Balance 1080v10, tell me what you think?! I’m a long time Nike running shoe user but not every Nike running shoe is good...many are mediocre at best.
Just got these shoe a week ago, the midsole was good. But I'm experiencing heels slips and also very tight at the mid foot area. Will the Flyknit expend and loosen up after some time? My first run only can last for 10km, it really hurt, perhaps my feets area too wide 😞😞
Less rubber means lighter shoes! I really don't understand people's obsession with a full rubber-soled shoe... Epic Reacts doesn't have much rubber and the sole wear isn't exacerbated because of that, on the contrary I already have more than 200 miles on my Epic React version 1 and it continues with lots of soles to wear.
