I love how nike's feel, but they wore pretty fast. I been using etnies marana xt's for last couple pairs, they last much longer, but they don't have as much feel as the hyperfeels. Great video as usual.
Best heelflip ever! I agree I think the bruins have the same sole and rubber and there is something about the heelflips for sure. The flick feels awesome!!!
I am late watching this kinda but this is like the 6th time I've watched this video because I bought some grant taylor blazer low and you are super right because I haven't landed a heelflip in 4 years and then a month after I buy the shoes I landed quite a bit of heelflips but I just wanted to tell you that it is my favorite shoe and I really love your vids they inspired me to learn new tricks🤘🏼🤙🏼
another gem of a video. i remember when we were skating the pumas and the shell toe adidas in the early 90s, we would cut off the stripes. the simple act of made wearing the traditional jock brand a little more tolerable to wear. the look like solid shoes though. solid review as well.
Great review. I really like that you waited to include the segment of two months later in the same video. I would be interested to see you review FP's Fino Skate shoes that supposedly have up to 90% shock absorption. They look very similar to your Nike's but without the Swoosh side logo (if that's an incentive to check them out). As an older skater I was having trouble with bruised feet and ankles just from landing hard on ollies. Since I got some Fino's I haven't had any such problems. Would be interesting to see what you thought of them, since you could actually put them through their paces far better than I can.
Thanks if you do. My etourist skateboards site is pretty new and would most likely be of interest to you (I have two other blogs linked to my RU-vid accounts). It's mainly a vehicle to try and get my skateboard graphics out into the world but it includes a 'blog-a-zine' that I hope will get me some regular readers. You'll find my written review of FP's shoes there :-)
Ben Degros i was skating in converse for the longest time then picked up a pair of adidas. Best choice I made in awhile. Ive been teaching boys in the group home I work in how to skate. It was so rewarding to see them learn how to ollie for the first time!!
Lol... great review... Nike seem to have the best "foot in shoe feel" meaning the insole and how the foot sits in them. Vans r amazing for grip and feel but it's like having slippers on..... ur skating is always great!!!!
Instead of sweat pants you can get baseball pants from a sporting goods store for pretty cheap and they will last longer, plus they have belt loops if you're into that
nice video ben! im skateboarding janoskis right now and i agree on everything you had to say about nike's.. keep it up and lets go skate soon when its dry outside
I skated cupsoles forever before vulcanized obviously because of lack of options. I haven't skated a cupsole shoe in a long time. I prefer the new vulcanized shoes. To answer you question I prefer vulcanized but I should review a good cupsole just to be thorough.
hey ben! based on your review i think you might like emerica’s figueroa shoe, or even the romeros. they’re my absolute favorites for both casual wear and skating
I think adidas makes the best skate shoe they are so comfortable have the best board feel and have good impact support. my last pair for atleast 9 months and I’m not a poser. I love Nikes too I might get a pair of og blazer mids
Like your channel btw. I am 30 and have only been skating since this summer so I'm pretty fresh (and only got to a backside kickturn on tranny when I was a kid). Any way having a lot of fun and your channel helped me out.
does skateboarding shoes make a huge difference?? like i use regular nike shoes and i can almost flick the board to make that 360 rotation for a kickflip but maybe getting skateboarding shoes is worth it
I got these and they take so damn long to break in. I've skated these for two big skate sessions and the soles aren't even remotely flexible. Atleast they'll last forever. TLDR:they take super long to break in but are uber durable
Me an a friend of mine won't get holes from ollies either, the thing we have in common is narrow feet. Do you have narrow feet? Thanks for another excellent video!
Thats a trick I still have from the olden days. It's easier than it looks. If you have a consistent switch flip you can do them. Riding back down regular is what makes them easier than say a straight switch flip over the hip.
Hi Yung TM. I checked it out. Keep doing what your doing. As for the music I would need it to have no profanity or suggestive material because I have a lot of young viewers.
Why does no one ever use shoe goo to prevent holes? I put it on before I ruin my shoes. I have some vans that I have skated for a month and since I just keep putting on shoe goo they have almost no wear
If you like them why dont you like nikes ha. And that is so crazy you said these are good for heelflips because I thought I was the only one. I have Nike Bruin sbs and they do AWESOME heelflips I was like what the Hell when I tried them cause they were so good. Kickflips were way harder though then my heavy dcs and also with the thiner bruins I spin my tre flips so much faster
It's just a hangover from the days before Nike was involved in skating. Also I don't like being told what to do "just do it". It summons my counterwill.
Ben, please answer. I'm learning kickflips. I'm almost there (I land everytime with 1 or 2 foot on the board), so I need a shoes that are good to do kickflips. Do you recommend any shoes in particular? Thank you very much.
I just skated a pair same color just bought the Xt with the rubber toe cap.. I do a lot a kickflips so I wore down to the leather after 3 weeks even in old man mode
Jay Dilla i wonder if some people wear more on kickflips than other people. Like maybe if you turn your ankle over a bit more than it wears on the suede faster than the rubber.
Are they good for wide feet? I heard most of their stuff is pretty narrow except for those and the Nike Bruins. I wear a size 13, and I always wanted to wear Blazers.
@@bendegros OK. Nke's fit narrow. That kinda sucks for ppl like me.Well, do you think I should size up and go for a size 14 instead of a 13? Or should I just forget about it? Because there are no SB Blazer shoes where I live, and even if there are, it's likely they won't have my size. They always tell me to order it online, but looking for skate shoes that way is kind of a hassle, especially when you have wide feet. You don't want to order shoes online only to find out that they don't fit.
I always thought it was weird that i warm up with a nollie flip. It takes like 5 or more tries for me to kickflip. I think because im focused on doing it good. I noticed you do nollie heel first. So im not weird or alone lol
Vans are true Skateboarding Company I only purchase the Pro mid models of Vans protects my ankles perfectly love Vans,, Nike Just Jumped on the Skateboarding Bandwagon all they could see was money! 50 year old Street Skateboarder......................UK
What's wrong with it? Church spots were my shit back in the day, they're usually well maintained with good pavement and back in the 90's they were one of the only places that were pretty chill about letting you skate there... especially if someone in your group went to that church. As long as you weren't busting shit up or blatantly smoking weed in the parking lot or screaming profanity they were usually cool about it and would even bring you water on hot days and shit. Really the only drawback was that you couldn't skate them on Sunday mornings.
