Looks and sounds like Alphafly 3 will be shoe of the year 2024 with the raving reviews so far! If it has the same magic or even better than v1 then I'm all for it! 🤙🏿 Vaporfly 3 is also in my Top 5 shoe/racer of year 2023, what a banger of a shoe!

We shall see. There are some exciting shoes coming out next year. The VF3 will be hard to beat for sure. We shall see.

Did you use these for the Marathon and how were they ?? and if you don’t mind saying what time did you do (approx). I have a pair and love them but never used beyond a HM race (which felt good at the end) Currently in danger of getting dragged into the alpha 3 hype but might already have a fantastic choice already that can be found cheaper and easier.

As I said in the video, I did race the NYC marathon this year in VF3s. I was going for a 3h10m to 3h20m time, but my legs blew up at 26k and they was that… finish time was around 5hours. My problem that day was not the shoes, it was me. The VF3s were very comfortable and I never felt I was lacking in training or in the race (until I blew up). Up to 26k I was comfortably on pace for a 3h20m finish. I’ll check out the AF3 when I can get a pair. It may be the better marathon racer. It certainly is the first one that seems to get a lot of interest from elites who previously raced in Vaporflys. I’m also curious what Adidas will release as their next consumer shoe in the Adios Pro line. There should be some other surprising 2024 as well.

Someone must be trolling me. I just checked the local Nike site, mostly to see if the Peg 41 had arrived, and as I was scrolling down the list I noticed one 'Nike Vaporfly 3 Eliud Kipchoge'.😄 Sadly, I already have the AP3, so better luck next time, Nike.

I think VF3 is more comfortable but at the same time more bouncier foam than versions 1 and 2. The forefoot curve, plate and propulsion felt stronger for me too.

I definitely agree. The forefoot especially feels better to me in all ways. The VF3 redesign was masterfully done for sure.

@@SagasuRunning i thought the VF2 was already perfect then Nike came up with VF3. didn't expect it to be this good. I can't wait for AlphaFly3 next year. It could win your award for 2024!

I planned on racing (half marathon) this month in a pair of Vaporfly 3's I bought last year but Injury and Illness in the last few weeks have essentially ended my chances of the time I wanted to achieve. I'm now considering putting them aside until 2025 as I'm concentrating on marathons for the rest of the year and using a different shoe. Do you think the zoom X foam will suffer in performance significantly if left a year to 18 months before use and if not, how are they best stored? Vacuum packed? Any advice would be welcome

They should be ok. I’ve had ZoomX shoes in storage for over 3 years and they are good to go now. I’d make sure to store them in a box, away from light in a place where the climate is stable… no extreme swings in temperature or humidity. Also if you live in a humid environment… also put something to absorb the humidity in the box (but make sure it’s not touching the shoe or it will destroy it).

The 🐘 in the room.. How is it's midsole durability ? When did you get the feeling it went flat? 120 miles? Compare it with the V2 midsole durability? 👍🏻

The “flat” feeling comes on around the same time, 100-120mi, definitely by 150 for the VF1/2/3. On both the VF1 & 2 I was wearing through the forefoot rubber, especially on my right foot (that I do scuff slightly) by 80-90miles… and to the carbon plate by 160mi… None of that happened in the VF3. Still plenty of outsole to go on all pairs. The VF3 has been one of the most durable shoes I’ve run in, surprisingly so.

@@SagasuRunning I have the Vaporfly V2. Amazing shoe but went kind of flat at 100 miles.. I was surprised because shoe looks and feel quite new. Now I use it for long runs. It feels fast but the numbers show it is less propulsive. Still so very comfortable with great drop..

@@i.p2088 Ya, that is very normal for a Vaporfly. It does become a great long run shoe after that though.

Im heel striker i love the shoe but the durability from the hell is really bad hope it wil last 200km 😢

Ya, it's definitely not great. Then again, the Vaporfly never has been great for durability, especially for heel strikers.

@@SagasuRunning not really i think the vaporfly 2 for heel strike had more life but it was not that stable like vaporfly 3 they need to put more out material in the heel like in the front

I did a video on VF3 durability, especially the heel striker problems… it’s really dependent on the runner… but those who have issues seem to REALLY have issues. For me, as a forefoot striker, I’ve found the VF3 to have better durability than any previous VF.

Agree on the forefoot strike and durability…. But I cover all foot strikes in the video.
