I just ran a 5K in these sneakers and they were unbelievable. That back springs you forward and the front grips. My feet aren't even remotely sore. I previously wore Saucony Endorphins Speed 2s before this sneaker and the Vaporfly 3s are way better. Comfort, ride, speed all 10/10.

QD: just picked up the Saucony Tempus the other week, got a PB in my half this past Saturday (1:32:56), and I’m in love. I’ll be using these for my training block that is starting in 2 weeks as well as my marathon in October!

Next week I‘m going to run my very first marathon. My favorite long distance shoe is for this task is the adidas adizero adios pro 3. I also ran about 100+ km in the Vaporfly 2 and the Metaspeed sky. Both really fast and light shoes. But more suited for 10k up to half marathon, at least for me. My adios pro 3s now have about 270 km on the clock. Now they feel ready to go and really comfortable and wonderfully soft and bouncy.

I have been racing this year in the Adidas Adizero Pro 3, It checks all the boxes for what I am looking for in a race day shoe. I tried on the Rocket X2 at a recent Expo and the temptation was STRONG. It really felt good underfoot for me.

How is it for durability? Never had a racing shoe, so wondering if any of them last any time at all?

@@cherries4life387 I've only got 200km on mine but so far so good. Haven't noticed any dip in performance, in fact I set set a new PB in them last time I used them. I would say the Vaporfly 2s are good until 400km and I expect the Endorphin Pro 3s to last a bit longer than that - say 500-600kmish.

If you are going to use one word to refer to the shoe, it should be Vaporfly, not next%. Both the Vaporfly and the Alphafly are next% shoes

Will be using the Vaporfly 3 for San Diego marathon this weekend. Love the fit and loved the cushion and bounce. Trained with it for a 12 mile run and had no problems.

My next marathon will be in Adios Pro 3. I raced 2 marathons this year already, one in Prime X Strung and another in Vaporfly 2. I was a couple of minutes faster in Vaporfly on a similar course, but my feet were destroyed, took much longer to recover than Strung. Ready to try something else now.

Sometimes energy return can make up for those extra ounces of weight. A true racing flat that weighs 4oz might take more out of the legs than a 6.5 oz shoe with more bounce & energy return

For me, breathability is always a curious thing to comment about for a running shoe. I run in very conditions regularly and have rarely, if ever, felt that any particular shoe felt hot and lacked breathability.

Supposedly people say it's softer because the amount of zoomx has increased underfoot by thinning the outsole rubber. Not sure how much that affects the ride if the durometer runs firm 🤷‍♂️ interesting nonetheless

QoD: Right now it seems like it is still the Vaporfly next%2, set another PR (2:34) in the shoe in late march. Looking to take on a fresh pair on Saturday in my second marathon for this year. Actually just broke them in yesterday doing some easy running and some strides. The shoe is solid and for someone with little more of a heal strike it works well and can generally be picked up for a more decent 180-200 dollars nowadays.

Vaporfly 1 is the best shoe out of the three (IMHO). The Vaporfly 3 didn't have that snappiness underfoot like the first two versions had. This shoe was a big meh for me. 🤷‍♂️

I didn't like the Vaporfly 1 and 2s. Energy return was ahead of everyone else, but too uncomfortable to wear, especially in the forefoot area. The Vaporfly 3s feel nowhere near the Vaporly 1 or 2. The shoe became tighter everywhere else except the toebox, which is now magically roomier. The midsole became way stiffer (like what Seth has said) and frankly, I don't feel squish at all compared to the vaporfly 2.

Just ran a marathon in my next% 2's for the first time. I wanted to test them over that distance before I thought about getting a second pair on clearance. I'm going to have to get another pair because they were perfect for me! It's trail season, bit I need to stash a pair before they sell out.

Just recently did two marathons within two weeks apart and pr’d both in the Endorphin Pro 3! Great marathon shoe and feels good pretty much the whole way. Later on this year I will be trying something else, something alittle more aggressive. See what shoes comes out later this summer early fall

QoD: My 2023 marathon shoe is between the Vaporfly 3 and the Rocket X 2. Although, the Metaspeed Edge+ is a darkhorse in that competition.

I know these are racing shoes but how many miles are they rated for before they wear out or stop giving good energy return?

So many variables to consider. Will be different for everyone. Most people use the shoe for 100-150 miles of racing. But there should be sufficient energy return for another 100-150 miles of up-tempo workouts. So most could get around 300 miles of use out of the shoe (across various uses). Of course, there are a few people who couldn't do more than 100 miles in the shoe, and others who put more than 500 miles in the shoe.

I used the VF1 w/ lace locks for the 10K in a triathlon. It was only the second time I wore them and they were tremendous. I loved the fit and feeling of bounce

QD: I bought a new pair of Vaporfly 2s on discount a few weeks ago to use for my fall marathons. I've tried the Endorphin Pros, Adios Pro 2s, and Alphafly and none could match the Vaporfly 2. I didn't want to mess with a good thing and get disappointed if the 3 doesn't match the magic in the 2.

I'm interested in Asics Magic Speed 3 - as opposed to the previous version, it seems like a very interesting choice for 160Eur. I don't like the 40mm stacked marathon racing shoes even if they are objectively slightly quicker.

QD: as long as I can find the original alpha fly or next % 2s in my size on sale. I will rock those. If I can’t then I’d wear the endorphin pro 3s mostly because it is the least expensive of the top carbon fiber racing shoes and I still love the endorphin speeds

45000 steps? That would be a steplength of less then 1 meter 😮. With 180 spm that'll be over 5,5min per km. At that speed nobody needs a Vaporfly imho 😉. Btw did the math for you, always considering 180 spm a 3 hour marathon is approx 32400 steps

How much break-in do they need if you’re not used to carbon plated shoes? I have a half in 3 weeks and think of doing an 18k long run with both easy pace and race pace as a break in. What do you recommend?

Way not a fan of their new ribbed laces. Give me smooth laces that I can pull on and tighten up the whole laced column, not just the last one or two holes while the rest stay loose. Plus good luck getting a knot out of those ribbed laces.

Cmmon ! 8 for durability hahahah many people ruined the outsole with 100 kms or less! And 7 for price 250$ is not cheap and is almoat imposible to get a dscount fot this shoe! Is better than 1 and 2 yes but the score is to high for a shoe very unstable, very pricy and a shoe wtih bad durability

Not sure how they can be considered cheating when everyone has access to 'super' shoes? They're expensive, and might limit access in that way. But it's possible to find earlier models of 'super' shoes (with similar performance benefits) discounted, usually at the same price of mid-priced daily trainer.
