Nike Vapormax review was not necessary. This shoe to me was just the result of good marketing and hype. Running in this shoe is not an option for me, but what do you all think of the shoe?

thanks, man. I try to be as honest as I can be. Just wasn't feeling this one. I guess could've did a acutal video review...but I just felt like this one needed to be straight up.

yeah, basically my impressions as well. I don't understand those people that say airmax is really good for running and stuff. and whenever I see those videos titled "ultra boost vs vapormax" by hypebeast people who probably never ran in either running shoe anyway, I know which shoe they're going to say is better.
@JamisonMichael

hype and shoes are like at a all time high. thats part of the reason i was so curious to try these out.

completely agree with you, air max is not a functional trainer .... subscribed

The shoes need to be broken in, which is not a concept most people are accustomed to anymore, but most reviewers have reported that they feel better with time... Just a heads up
@JamisonMichael
@JamisonMichael 7 лет назад
Some IT Guy my friend bought a pair a month ago, she said they felt a little better after a week, but still weren't that great. But we are coming from an actual functional/running standpoint, I'm assuming most people are just wearing it casually. With athletic wear technology as good as it is now, breaking in a shoe the point of having to feel lugs as the bottom of the shoe for a week isn't worth it to me, I've tried so many running shoes, none of required the breaking in that this requires and only just to be passable like these do. Nike may have meant this to be a casual shoe, but they put it with their running shoe category with the Pegasus, vomero, Lunar epic...not sure if they changed it, but I think I mistakenly thought they would be okay for running. I've seen them at speciality running store and it's just sitting. I was so excited about the shoe, then realized it wasn't meant for me. I'm still hurt about it 😔

I don't know that it ever crossed my mind that these would be legit shoes for running in. I always saw them as fashion sneakers. Despite what Nike might categorize them as. It's like that Ultra Boost video you did, except for real this time lol.
@JamisonMichael

I was thinking the same thing lol I think this shoe just answered my question. Running shoes are not meant for running. they're just promoted that way to since "runners" are the cool thing nowadays, and at a high price point to appeal to those who get hyped about expensive shoes. Almost like Jordans

Well there's a lot out there that he might like. I just think this shoe is just for the casual wear. The price is too expensive of a shoe considering what you're actually getting.

Here's the thing about this video: The things you said about the initial feel of the shoe were not wrong. I felt the same exact sensations you described when I bought my pair. But, my dude... you admittedly only took FOUR OR FIVE STEPS before drawing a conclusion about a performance shoe based on a never-before used construction concept. I know Adidas boost are comfortable right out of the box - because they have a squishy, dampening foam midsole as the cushioning system. It's a totally different shoe. The vapormax doesn't have a foam midsole, therefor Nike utilized a semi-rigid insole to offer more rigidity. That insole needs to be broken in. When done so properly, the end result is an insole and upper that hugs the entire foot, top and bottom, and a bouncy and responsive cushioning system with an energy return that is non-existent in Boost. If you want your videos to be taken seriously, perhaps consider conducting your research in a more professional manner going forward. Can you imagine if an automotive journalist went out to a track to test a new Ferrari or Lamborghini or Corvette, and they sat in the driver seat and said "Ugh! This seat and steering wheel aren't comfortable! I won't even attempt to drive this pile of rubbish!" Nobody would take them seriously.

28 no face I explained in more detail on another persons comment (some IT GUY) that was somewhat similar to your concerns, which you can read if you like, but either way I didn't mean to upset you or anyone else. If the shoe is great for you and works, then that's all that matters. I'm pretty sure there's many people out there who love this shoe, as long as it provides what you are looking for...and if that's the case you really can't go wrong with these or any other shoes!
@sbecker415
@sbecker415 7 лет назад
Jamison Michael You know what... you're absolutely right - again! I guess my frustration doesn't stem from the fact that you didn't like the shoe. Instead, I suppose I was just frustrated that you didn't give it a chance and I think it's a shoe you would probably grow to love if you had. I had the same negative reaction to them as you did when I tried them on in the store, but after breaking them in and getting used to how different they feel from any other shoe I've ever owned... now they're my favorite non-basketball shoe of all time. Don't sell yourself short. Give them a chance to change your mind. You won't regret it!

boost is not a foam, it's a compound made from hundreds of tpu pellets compressed and fused together with steam. no hate but just make sure to do your research.

I think the running airmax arent too bad, still overpriced retail prices, but i rather run in those than the vapormax. My air max 2015 were good for the price that i got them, but I havent really felt the urge to want to get another pair...especially since the vapormax was kinda underwhelming.

I bought a vapormax since it was totally on a discounted price last January. I’m regularly using it for casual wear. Lately I’ve been doing walking and running for exercise. So I tried using my vapormax since I got curious, and I really didn’t expect that I would love it. It works for me. Whenever I use my vapormax I never had any knee pain compared to using my Reebok Floatride, and I felt that I ran faster with the vapormax as well.

Jamison Michael man, you're completely right about them. Imo they're awful way too narrow for my feet and al the lumps under your feet feel really bad. Also what you mentioned about your ankles sort of falling in and not being supported by the bubbles i know exactly what you mean. definitely returning.

I really try to just stick to shoes that I want. I notice a lot of people buy shoes just because they are told they are cool, so they think they are cool...and they'll pay a high price...and even pay a higher resell price just to say they have it. Im sure some people might find these comfortable for the price...just not me

Porfirio the hedgehog I did try them. They’re no good. I ended up getting a pair to “break In”..and their still really bad. I realize most of the people saying it’s great shoe are also the ones who aren’t running any significant amount in them. I ended up just selling the pair since confirming what I already knew. This one seems to fit more in the yeezy crowd/Jordan crowd than it does in the “I’m going to run 8miles today” crowd 😅

I hate running in them! So uncomfortable! It has a good grip on the ground but honestly that’s better for treadmill running but sometimes it’s too light that I accidentally fall Lol But I will say this... they are GREAT for hiking! I just hike in them because they grip so well to rocks and dirt!

Its a pair you have to break into man. The first couple wears are shit but once you break jnto em theyre comfy. Thats what most people would agree with.
@JamisonMichael
@JamisonMichael 6 лет назад
2011maverickschamps everyone been telling me that, and I end up getting a pair weeks later that I purposefully put in many miles of running in. Thing is many of the people who say it needs to break in aren’t running in this shoe. Even when it “broke in” it still wasn’t comfortable to me. I still felt the lugs in the shoe...It’s one of those things where it’s almost blasphemy to say the shoe isn’t that great when everyone socially agrees that it is. I think the hype and the big sneakerheads got people liking this as much as they do. Main thing is that or Running...it wasn’t good for me. But to each their own...ya know

IMO this shoe's fueled by Air Max nostalgia like aesthetically it doesn't even come toe to toe with Adidas' finest and from a performance POV (I'm not that much of a runner) I've only heard negatives for the Air Bubbles. Adidas has just stolen the show the past 2~3 years arguably since Kanye's entry into the scene
@calebhoo4193
@calebhoo4193 7 лет назад
Yeah but those are in the same vein as this... Style shoes with performance technology utilized for comfort. Calabasas shoes lol... even Yeezy boost is not performance, and the Ultra Boost even as the premier model is more of a showcase shoe now. I wouldn't bet anyone against Nike until they can actually take away their market share domination.

lol, I'm one of those people that if I don't immediately want something, like when I got the altra escalante, I just go to goodwill and see if I find something good rather than buy something for 190 dollars... because these, in a year, are probably going to be less than 130 anyway.
@travisjewell1759
@travisjewell1759 7 лет назад
Ah the Escalante. In my book, the best road running shoe ever made. And an excellent lesson in hype. Altra has almost no hype, made by runners for runners. Then there's Nike, all form no function.
@crummockiphail9720
@crummockiphail9720 7 лет назад
+Travis Jewell I disagree about Nike. They do indeed have some very good running shoes. They're big enough to produce shoes across all categories and price ranges, so it's easy for someone to single out some random pair of shoes they don't like, but don't lose sight of the good that they do just because they make so many different things. I like Altra too, I'm just as likely to wear them as I am anyone else, but the kind of viewpoint you're taking is akin to a hipster attitude. I get bugged by the smug runners who shut out brands because the casuals wear them and then circle jerk around their small little running company like they're something special.
@gannetmarkozen3044
@gannetmarkozen3044 7 лет назад
Travis Jewell yeah, it's hard to believe that they put so much research into this shoe and stuff but when you just look at it and feel it it's not really that special and doesn't really seem like it's a running specific shoe. seems like just a lot of hype tbh...
@travisjewell1759
@travisjewell1759 7 лет назад
I agree Nike is huge enough to spend a lot of money and get biomechanical scientists to actually advance shoe technology. Like they stuff they did for the Breaking2 marathon with the Vaporfly Elite, that kind of research I respect as a scientist myself. The problem I have is with all that, they damn sure know when an idea is a spectacular fail like these, yet they get their marketing dept to hype up crap they know is crap and sell it at gross prices anyway. Then there is the related issue of them issuing the Vaporfly 4% to the average Joe running crowd - for a mere $250. It's another "It's gotta be the shoes" thing when the Breaking2 time drop had a ton to do with ideal conditions, FIVE pacers in a flying V formation in front of the runner to block the wind, and a dedicated nutrition expert following them around on scooters. The average Joe 3:30 marathoner like myself is NOT going to see those kind of gains just because they bought a Vaporfly shoe.

Spar Valencia that's what I'm thinking! For some reason I thought "vapormax" was going to be a newer technology...but yeah, same stuff basically. Zoom is about 20 years old, lunar is about 8-9 years. Given they have modified their technologies since then..I thought "vapor" was going to be their new thing. 😞
