I've done just over 500 miles on the Pegasus 36 as of yesterday - really happy with them as my first proper running shoes. However, I am going to buy the Vomero 14 as I've heard it's got better support and more comfortable for longer runs.
The RVmero 14s are the only shoes that I have tried that don’t cause my feet to hurt. I have big, wide feet so I have a 12EE in the Vomero. I don’t run, but I do a lot of walking and standing. I recently got some Hoka Clifton’s, and I am amazed to find that they actually feel uncomfortable in comparison to the Vomero. They cause my arches to hurt. I’m tempted to try a Pegasus. Is the feel of the Pegasus closest to the Vomero in the Nike line?
Some have reported arch pressure in Clifton and other Hoka,. I think due to sidewalls there being raised and pressing the arch. You might try a different sockliner. As far as Pegasus I see it is available in extra wide but it a low volume upper over the instep so no sure how comfortable for walking. I would stick to Vomero for walking in Nike or consider a New Balance available in wide and extra wide such as the 1080v9. Critique Truth big big difference. Peg Turbo has a soft bouncy Zoom X foam. Much softer than regular Peg 36. Quite unstable but fun to run. It is lighter Our review www.roadtrailrun.com/2018/07/nike-pegasus-turbo-initial-road-test.html?m=1
I'm between Brooks Revel 4, Nike Pegasus 36 and Vomero 14. I will train for speed and 1 mile endurance, right now I'm at 100kg (plan is to go for 80kg). Heel stroke from what I can see and neutral. Any recommendations?
Of those you mention in order: Vomero, Peg 36, Revel 4 if you are running more than a few miles at a time. If just a few miles (1-4 at a time) Revel 4 will be more fun but likely will not last as long given your weight. Best of luck with your progress and training.
I have the 35's and hate them. Used them for a handfull half-marathons. They make my feet collapse in the forefoot and they are pure shit regarding lacing if you have high arces, like I. The shoe is really not to be used for more than 10 km runs, if running city streets. I really cant see any improvement with the 36's... I also have a narrow heel, that most likely does better with the 35 than the 36. The 35's are already so pointy, that they make people trip, when running in demanding tracks. With the 36 being more pointy, its just useless.
