I have had this shoe for over a month now and I can say it hasn't let me down. I live in the great white north and running on slippery sections (other than black ice) hasn't been a problem. Wet pavement and uneven ground have not been a problem.

what's it like in the rain considering that its not goretex? in climates like British Columbia trails how would you say it would do?

More Vomero than Invincible it seems. The sr02 carrier actually made up most of the midsole in there and the ZoomX is more of a thin strip through the center 1/4-1/3 or so of the midsole. Not like the Tempus which really is a Pwrrun PB midsole with a Pwrrun frame/rim.

Nice that you are testing shoes at the moment under Aussie conditions.

Thanks Nick and Mike for the honest review. If you want to test some cold and muddy conditions, jump on a flight to Canberra, Australia, and I'll show you some gnarly trails as it has been and still is, a very wet winter.

I'm interested in them as an alternative to the peg4. I recently got a pair of pegs and although i like the fit and feel, the drop is too much for me, it's causing some weird pressure pain on the outside of my feet. The 4mm of the zegama is way more in my comfort zone.

Agree on the big drop :(

Cute cat hahaha disappointed it’s not the ZoomX trail shoe I was hoping for but I think it’s hard to create something stable with that foam while still keeping the bounce. Maybe adding a plate to the ZoomX but removing the carrier foam would to the trick? Not sure
@RowOfMushyTiT
@RowOfMushyTiT 2 года назад
It has bounce - it's just not as much as the Invincible, but who wants that on the trail?

@@RowOfMushyTiT So nike invincible run provides much more energy return compared to zegama bro?

Could these be fine running on roads too? I need a long run shoe and a trail shoe too. Wondering if I can use this for some long roads on road and in the mountains

Hey Nick, Hope you're well and good? You may (or may not) remember me from Cyclist mag.... Anyway, just intrigued by this shoe and trust your opinion. I run mostly in my Pegasus Trail 3. I love the fit and feel. I came over to them from many years in Salomon, (Sense 4 and/or Speedcross mostly) and I really liked the switch to Nike. HOWEVER, like everyone, I find the Pegasus lacks grip in anything vaguely wet. I run 95% of the my time on trail, mostly mix of gravel, and forest tracks, but hardly ever tarmac. I want a shoe that can cope well also on coastal style trail runs (I run on the Dorset coast path a lot too) with quite a bit of steep gradient changes, in mixed conditions, including wet and muddy. Honestly, is the Zegama a worthwhile choice for the money? Or would I get a better result from another brand. I'm not necessarily brand loyal to Nike, but equally I have a sense that (like bicycle saddles) once you know a brand works for you, then stick with it (that was ultimately why I stuck by Salomon for so many years). But I've heard lots of good comments about other trail shoes, like Saucony Peregrine for example...??? Any help gratefully received to alleviate some of my doubts here before shelling out £145. Cheers :-)

Hey Stu, good to hear from you! From my limited testing so far, I don't think the Zegama would be the best fit for you. I haven't done much in the wet in it, but would still struggle to trust Nike's outsole on steep, wet coastal paths myself. It feels more a shoe for long runs on fairly decent trails. The Peregrine is pretty excellent and would fit well for your runs I'd say. The Inov-8 Parkclaw is also very good - billed as a road to trail shoe and is comfortable on the road, but terrific grip too. I haven't tested Salomon's latest trail stuff that much but they're always pretty solid if you wanted to go back to them!

*I am thinking of running these in a marathon. Is it loud on tarmac like the alphafly? And does it survive washing machine wash?*

Zoom X has now served its purpose for Nike in the high end shoes, so has now become a marketing tool for lesser shoes. In this shoe it is not full length or very much in reality. I like it however as a trail walking shoe in this warm weather but it is not a trail running shoe.

how is it in the mud and on wet rocks/roots?

good in dry, mud and loose conditions. bad on wet rock/roots.

I had really high hopes for this shoe. But all of the reviews have been...meh. Nobody's said it's a bad shoe, but nobody seems to have been blown away either. I've just gone out and bought another pair of the Pegasus Trail 4 in a different colourway.
