I started to tear up hearing Niki mention that Madonna gives so much and does so much that people don't know about. Which is a shame because Madonna loves her public persona of being such a feisty, outspoken, and "hard" person. But she really isn't.

The annoying thing about that Mariah quote is that she was telling the singer that "Like a Prayer" is not a hard song to sing and that she should have done Niki's solo during the gospel choir part (FYI, it's not Niki on the record but most people, including Mariah, don't know that). So yeah, it was a nice compliment to Niki but it was clearly shading Madonna. 🙄

And look at Mariah today. She can only sing those annoying high whistle notes and nothing below them. Watch any live performance over the past few years and she sounds terrible. Karma comes back and bites people.

I always wondered if Niki sang on the record version… it says on wiki she is backing singer… but I recall in another interview she said it was the choir… I bet she wished she had sang on it… but she did the stage version which is the visual and she was amazing on that

Interesting. I always thought that was Niki singing that solo because she refused to do the music video because of religious beliefs. I’m pretty sure that solo is Niki.

Mariah said it wasn't a song meant for a power singer (and it's not. No Madonna song is meant that way). But the power part is what she wanted the Idol contestant to sing and she gave credit to Niki for that.

The issue with Truth of Dare footage. Yes, the reels that was in storage was destroyed by a fire. But… Madonna showed when touring her archives. She has copies of all the footage that was shot. She showed quite a few reels from the film. So it be cool if she would eventually release some of it.

Madonna Niki and Donna should’ve done a girl group like Destiny’s Child or The Supremes and recorded an album. I’m sure it would have been amazing because these ladies make Madonna sound even better especially live.

See this is why Madonna doesn’t mess with niki anymore. She has no sense of what being a superstar is. One could never reference their struggles as a parent to the biggest star on earth after Michael Jackson. Being a parent is hard I give niki that, but don’t get mad at Madonna for changing her strategy once having children. lol

Agreed; especially during the DWT & Confessions. Madonna has worked very hard and that’s why she’s still relevant 40 years later. She can still sell out arenas worldwide because she’s an icon, bottom line. Madonna has her mark in history.

Nikki, you damn well know Mariah was being shady with Madonna. "Like a Prayer" is a Madonna song and she tells a contestant to sing like... the back up singer? Really? And you was cool with that, knowing that it was NOT you on the original record? That was shady from you as well. By the way, the choir on "like a prayer" is from the gospel choir "Andrae Crouch Choir", not Nikki and Donna. I like Donna's behave more in this interview. She seems and sounds more respecful and grateful to Madonna. Nikki sounds a bit bitter and shady. It's the way she talks, that "idgf" attitude that is a red flag for me. And that's a sad surprise bc i always thought they loved Madonna.

I need to point something out about M with Truth Or Dare. The way M doubted Mama Makeup and the rape story really was terrible. The Sharon Gault story is just sad. Madonna laughed and wouldn't even bother listening. Years later, M claims she was raped in the early days of her career. That would NEVER "fly" today. M should have listened and talked to Sharon, but instead, she laughed.

It wasn’t just Madonna that did not take Sharon’s story too seriously, Niki and Donna didn’t really pay any attention to her nor did the other dancers except Carlton. Kevin, one of the dancers implied in a podcast interview that Sharon stretched the truth of what actually happened, I think they were all a bit dubious about her story.

Because that’s what most listeners/viewers want to hear. Let’s face that reality. And they worked with her for two decades. That’s a big chunk out of someone’s life.
