It's a shame he couldn't reach his full potential. He was at Modric's level and deserved to play in a top team. Young people don't even know who this is...
Not true that he was at Modric's level lol. Redknapp watched both players when they were at Zagreb and asked Bilic about them when he was Croatia U21 manager. Bilic said Kranjcar was a very good player and told Redknapp to buy him, but he said Modric had world class potential and would go right to the top of the game, and Portsmouth couldn't afford him.
I named my son Niko bc of him, meet him while he was playing in our town (Zagreb), for Dinamo. He could be a far better player, maybe like his father once was (Cico Kranjčar), but he found his way anyway. I love the way he played football, the way he controled the ball, but more than that, I like him as a person... very polite, modest, well behaved guy.
He was one of my favorite players from Croatia, along with Modric, Mandzukic, Rakitic and others, he was a good pity player who suffered from injuries.
Sritno ti Niko bilo!
Most naturally gifted Croatian player in last 15 years along with Modric. Just unlucky with injuries , and lacked proper lungs to be in top 10 best players in Europe...maybe born in a wrong time. He would be on level with Batistuta in mid 90-s when football was a bit slower. Killer passing range, vision and oh that cannon in his boots...
What do you mean proper lungs? I speaked once to the coach that he was playing for in Dinamo as a young talent and Coach said Niko's problem was his work ethics
this guy was far better than Luka Modić, and if he had will like Luka, he would also won Golden Ball in his prime...just if he had more will for football!!he is my best ever Croatian player
Yea yea if he had will he would be far better than Modric and Maradona together . If my grandmother had a willy she would be Billy . If i was Billy i would order 1 championship for Hajduk Split so u guys stop whining and crying and embarrassing urselfes in the process like ur skaut service did 25 years ago when they didnt sign Modric because they thought he is to small to play football and they ended up sending him home. After that he signed with Dinamo Zagreb and the rest is history. Kranjčar is the biggest gentleman ever but his peak was Hajduk and Glasgow and little bit of premiership football .
He was the best in Dinamo and Hajduk times. He was very good at Portsmouth and first season of Tottenham(2009/10). But then he didn't play too much and lost some abilities. Then, there was neither good nor bad season with Dynamo Kiev. He was very good when he plays for QPR, 2013-14 season. But 2014-15 was not the best. Then he played less than past years, so many injuries... Ruined career by injuries.
Random Davy He's 31 years old. Mark Warburton (the manager of Rangers) is a big fan of Kranjcar from his days at Tottenham. He flew out to the USA and spoke with Kranjcar about a week ago. The player is still thinking about the move but apparently he has a movie star girlfriend out there. Who knows what will happen at this point but I hope he comes to Scotland.
