People forget the guy had crazy numbers through his whole career because he was feeding Malone all the time, you can't be more efficient than playing pick n' roll against zone-prohibited defenses, it was just too damn easy for both players (and they still underachieved, it shows how the lack of the "clutch gene" can affect players)

@@RRRRRRRRR33 Stockton's numbers are inflated because of Malone. Assists a lot higher than they would have otherwise been. Jokic doesn't have a Malone to catch his passes, sink it, boost his assists.

@@PeterCacioppi It's deceiving offensive efficiency, but the numbers are still there. And in the 8 games that Stockton played without Malone (that's insane, both were iron men) he still averaged almost 10 assists in those games. It's like Nash playing without Stoudemire, he maintained his numbers, most likely Stockton would average 10 assists instead of those crazy 14 assists seasons, still a great PG that will lead teams to nowhere. And Jokic also did not lead the Nuggets to nowhere, we can't forget that, his PER and offensive ratings dropped a little in his playoffs trips. He still deserves the benefit of the doubt, of course, he is not a loser like Stockton and Malone... but who knows, he can go his entire career without sniffing the finals, crazy efficiency or not

In this era, everyone on the floor works year round on basketball because the floor salary is upper-middle-class and they have professional trainers supporting them. Its a completely different era with a much higher floor. There is zero chance that Nikola is guarded by someone who has to work a real job in the offseason and who doesn't benefit from professional training. Wilt was guarded by someone like that all the time (nearly every backup center, and some of the starting centers).
