The Denver Nuggets complete a 17-point comeback in the 2nd half to defeat the Toronto Raptors, 125-119. For Denver, Nikola Jokic led the way recording his 21st triple-double of the season and 126th of his career with 35 points, 17 rebounds, 12 assists, 6 steals, and 2 blocks. Denver improves to 45-20, while Toronto moves to 23-42.
Nikola Jokic is the 3rd player since steals were tracked in 1973-74 to put up 35+ points, 15+ rebounds, 10+ assists, 5+ steals, on 50% FG, joining:
Terry Cummings on 1/16/1987
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on 11/2/1973
The Nuggets have now won 12 straight games when Nikola Jokic records a triple double and have the best record since the All-Star break at 9-1.

Because his skin doesn't have as much melanin as most NBA players. That's the answer for any question about why Jokic isn't the best player in the league. I know that doesn't make any sense, but that's why he won't be the unanimous MVP this season and may not win it at all.

I'm a Joker fan, but honestly his defense is a mixed bag. He has good hands, and yes he grabs missed shots, but he also watches as guys blow by him to score - and cleans up the rebound if they happen to miss.

And they aren't the best players individually but they are the best as a team, also if Joker had better individuals around him, that means he would probably make even more assists and win even more easier... he finally got solid squad enough to win it all, playoffs before he had bums as kampazzo, austin rivers, will barton (as a starter), etc.. A game that really shined a light on the psychology of the Jokic era Nuggets. They always want to be doubted and be the underdog and playing from behind. After everybody anointed them the best team in the league after beating Boston twice and Jokic the clear MVP they came out with an abysmal and laughable 1st half effort v a trash Toronto team. So this team in every way. The pattern for the last 6 years. Then they do their flip the switch thing and crush. I think a Jokic and Malone and Murray thing. Greatest player in the world right now hands down. My all-time favorite player is Steph, but what we are witnessing with Jokic, night in and night out is undeniable and extraordinary. If Jokic wins rings he could be the best of all time. I don't think there has been a player that was the best at everything. He has crazy efficiency at both offense and defense. He shoots under the rim, he shoots from the field, he shoots threes, he passes like a god, he steals, he rebounds, he has crazy game IQ and he is a true leader. The only thing he doesn't do is jump high which he might be able to do, but chooses not to. P.S. This of course you can only discuss near the end of his career.

Russ his MVP translated to wins too because his 5th seed was expected to miss the playoffs. Put prime Russ with Murray, KCP, MPJ and Gordon instead of his squad at the Thunder that had zero 3 point shooting and spacing and he'd have more wins too and honestly 5th was already great. That MVP is comparable to Jokic's finishing as sixth seed with Murray and MPJ gone.

@@blade4340 yes LeBron had 6 nba all defence and came 2nd in DPOY twice in 2009 and 2013 (robbed in 2013 to marc Gasol). Jokic is never making nba all defence or getting into DPOY candidacy in his career. Jokic is mediocre on defence not elite like peak LeBron. Don’t be stupid and say peak LeBron defence is comparable to Jokic defence

Jokic might be on one of the best four year runs in NBA history, if not the best since Wilt. In a fair world he would have four MVPs, and maybe even two titles. Just look at the stats of players who’ve lost MVP to him, look at his stats in the only year he lost MVP and go see how many other years he would’ve swept the award. It’s insane.
