Led by Nikola Jokic’s 28 points (12-16 FG), 16 rebounds, and 4 assists, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat in Game 5, 94-89. Michael Porter Jr. (16 points, 13 rebounds) and Jamal Murray (14 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists) added a combined 30 points for the Nuggets in the victory, while Jimmy Butler tallied 21 points for the Heat. After closing out this best-of-seven series, 4-1, the Nuggets have clinched the franchise’s first NBA title.

This guy just became the first player in NBA playoff history with 1st in points, rebounds, and assists. Won the NBA championship. Selected as the NBA Finals MVP. All that, and he is just sitting here, not overly excited nor emotional, not wearing any Championship gear, doesn't have his trophy or family with him, just doing an interview like after any other game. What a guy.

In true Jokic fashion, he comes to the postgame interview right after winning the championship in a simple nuggets t-shirt, no trophy, no championship hat, no bling, no speech about how they showed the haters that they could do it. When they asked him how it feels, he said "It's good." He clearly knows that this is just a game, and there are much more valuable things in life than winning a series of games.

Seems like Embiid has amazing game and then milksnit, but usually he is "injured" or taking a break vs best teams... Clearly my guy is a god on the court but it seems as if basketball is not his 1st love. It's something he's exceptional at but may not be his passion the way it was for Jordan or Kobe. I'm cool with it. I've never seen a guy as good as Jokic is be so honest about how he feels after a Championship and MVP. The man just wants to go home to his kid, Horses, and family. Chill lmao greatest Centers of all time are Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Hakeem Olajuwon and either Dirk or Bill Russell. Jokic isnt even top 10 yet in Centers. You still have David Robinson, Dirk or bill depending on who you got at 5, Patrick Ewing, Moses Malone and Bill Walton or Artis Gilmore like there are so many honorable mentions too. Jokic will def be in top 5 conversations in like 3 to 4 more rings for Centers though.

You realize all these NBA interviews are about being able to write sensationalist stories, being able to throw around “inspirational”, “motivational” “put in the work” “grind” stories and he doesn’t give them that It is unfathomable to so many that an NBA champ is so nonchalant and completely lacking ego because that doesn’t play into the storied narratives of previous NBA greats like Jordan, Kobe etc

Don't let his demeanor fool you into thinking he does not have the "fire" all greats have (Kobe, Jordan, Bird, Lionel Messi, Wayne. Gretzky, Husain Bolt, etc)... They all needed THREE things: Talent, work and will. But often, their incredible talent overshadows the other 2 elements.

Congrats to Denver, the team and the organization. Jokic has earned to be called the best player in the world! I am happy to see the Bigs continue to do well because I am tired of seeing 30+ 3's going up for teams. Last night game was crazy because that was the most attempt 3's from Denver in a while. They normally attack the paint but foul trouble played a role. Jokic ready to go home. well earned. The parade on Thursday... what... I want to go home.
