Thank you Frank, For art reproduction it is best to work with a macro lens because it gives the least distortion, is very sharp and gives accurate colors. I myself work with the Irix 150mm which is a manual focus lens. But other good lenses are Sigma 105mm macro, Tamron 90mm, Nikon 60mm macro, Nikon 55mm macro. Cheers, Wim

I have owned both lenses at the same time and was able to keep the variables out of the equation. The Nikon was more accurate in the AF. Nevertheless, the Sigma is a very good lens with of course the extra 100mm

There are variables you cannot control such as sample variation however. I used the Sigma on multiple bodies on two separate mounts, aps-c and full frame, and its focus accuracy was spot on with every single camera - this without any correction having to be made in any of the cameras. It's quite possible, your copy of the Sigma wasn't the best of the samples out there, perhaps an earlier version or there were conflicts with firmware in the cameras- it's really tough to say you had all the variables under control. I think it's worth your time to do a retest with another Sigma. I tested it with 7 different Canon bodies, and 5 different Nikon bodies and the results were always consistent to the point of being jaw dropping- whether that meant static subjects or birds in flight, you name it. You can see why I decided to comment with that kind of performance. It's my go to lens for action after testing several native lenses in each mount, simply because of its consistent nature of accurate high quality images in any situation. Price has nothing to do with that decision either. Take another look at the Sigma, I say :).

It's great to hear that you like the Sigma so much. At the moment I mainly use the NIKON AF-S 300MM F/4.0E PF ED VR which is amazing to use and leaves the zooms behind. I'm planning another review of this lens soon.

You mentioned in the video the D800 as a crop sensor camera. The D800 is rather a full frame camera and would give you the field of view of 70-300 mm the lens is designed for, not the field of view of 105-450 which you would get on a DX body.

@@eurika391 I used this lens on the D500, D800 and D810. Of course you can test this lens is for your needs by renting it. If money isn't a problem: Nikon 120-300mm f2.8 for lowlight conditions.

Hard to say, if you feel like you're a bit short in length I'd go for it. In terms of sharpness, both lenses are almost the same, the autofocus on the 70-300 mm is surprisingly fast. You do lose a full stop of light at 300mm (f/5.6), but since you photograph airplanes, I suspect you have enough light. The choice is yours, in any case, the 70-300 mm is a beautiful and light lens.

Nikon's AF-P lenses do not work with the D5100. You need the AF-S version.

I've sold all of my Sigma lenses and stick with native Nikon glass. If the lens is under warranty you can give it a try to take it to the service center. No more Sigma lenses for me.

If you want to stick with dx, you can also consider the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR. Very cheap lens with good results if you have enough light. If you still lack reach, you can still consider the 200-500mm. Keep in mind the impact of the increase in weight of the lens if you are out all day.

With your D7200 you will be able to handle higher ISO values much better than with your former bridge camera. In other words, you can compensate for the variable aperture with a higher ISO value. Faster glass (Nikon 70-200 f2.8) is of course even better but this comes with a significant price and weight increase.

The 70-300mm would work well with the D5600. The even better option would be: 70-200mm f/2.8 or f/4 and 300mm f/4 pf. However, this would be a more expensive solution. If you just want more reach, the Sigma 100-400mm is also a great lens for its price.

In addition to better image quality, you will also get VR and AF. Definitely an upgrade if you ask me.

I am not a fan of superzoom lenses. Yes, they have their uses for people that travel or do not want to change lenses, but they come with too many problems for my taste. I would add the 70-300mm to your current lens.

Sure, the one you mentioned is the af-s lens and the one in this video is the af-p version. The af-p version has faster af and is sharper in the 200-300mm range. Be sure to check if your camera works with af-p lenses.

If your autofocus works then you're good to go. You can always check your firmware in your camera. Press the camera's MENU button and select Firmware Version in the SETUP MENU to display the camera's firmware version. Check the firmware version of the camera. The current version is 1.03.

A normal tripod is sufficient, of course for a camera and not for a smartphone. It's actually a relatively light lens.

I would choose the Nikon. The Tamron isn't that fast than the AF from Nikon. Shooting at minimum focus distance and max zoom can leave your subjects looking slightly hazy on the Tamron. Good Luck!

AF-P NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6E ED VR is fully compatible with your D5600 and you'll be able to use it even if you switch to full-frame. Make no mistake, the AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300MM F/4.5-6.3G ED VR is the DX version you DO NOT want.

I myself use an iMac with the software Capture One, darktable and Affinity Photo. A sufficiently large screen is quite useful when you edit photos.

The Sigma you mentioned is an aps-c sensor only lens. It's a 'superzoom' with a lot of compromises and suffers from distortion, CA and lack of sharpness. I wouldn't buy it.

Hi, a lot depends on whether you use the live view function a lot. That being said, you can also check your battery status in the menu. Buying a new original battery can sometimes work wonders. A faster sd card could possibly help so that the camera can write the images faster. RAW or jpg would in principle not make much difference. Good luck.

I have the latest version (AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3G ED VR) and it is a great lightweight lens for its price. With f/6.3 @300mm you are losing some light against f/5.6 @300mm from the FX version.

The af-p will unfortunately not work on the d3200. The 70-300 af-s, on the other hand, will work on your camera. Definitely a good lens too.

The sharpness of the AF-S version drops significantly from 220mm while the AF-P version stays sharp.
