Great video! I just discovered this lens in my stash of lenses that were given to me. Your video was helpful and I’m looking forward to trying it out soon.
Needed a tele zoom for my new Nikon D750. This lens made it into the three final candidates and your video was the last straw tipping the balance in it's favour and it is coming soon. More around 150$ buying local, but with a full 1 year warranty I feel safer than with a random ebay seller from the other side of the globe.
Carmine … Thank you bullseye I was looking at this particular lens for the past few weeks ! You help make my decision .. saved a few on eBay will review which one is the best ! Thank you !
“Use your skills” Wow! I haven’t heard that on RU-vid. Auto focus this and autofocus that. IBIS this and IBIS that. It’s like photographers want an automatic camera In manual mode 😂. Remember… you put it in manual mode… “drum roll…” “to use your skills” They make you wonder how photographers of old got a sharp image, let alone a sports or wildlife photographer. Great video.
very informative lesson Carmine. I found one of these from a seller in Japan for just about $100 that included shipping. Can't wait to use the lens on my film and dx slrs this spring and summer up in Rocky Mt Natl Park and in Utah for street photography here in Denver.
Thank you for your very entertaining review on the lens I’ve just picked up for £50. Due to nobody else bidding. I’m commenting from sunny 😂 Derby here in the UK and looking forewords to the weekend to fit it onto my D700.
Sold! Picked up what looks like a lovely example for under $100 shipped from Japan. Can’t wait to try it out on my D700! You have a new subscriber as well. 😄
I have a Nikkor 75-300mm lens I bought new back in the mid 1980s to go with my Nikon 8008S. In 2017 I bought a used D300S. Great camera. The 75-300 works on it just fine. AF works. But I don’t understand why the aperture has to be set at smallest (32?). Otherwise it won’t work. Could you explain that? Thanks for your videos, by the way. I just discovered them.
Awesome review. I have this good ‘ol lens. I used it for moon shots on a 2x on a D200 ages ago. Not bad. While I love my 80-200 for outdoor portraits this is a fun out about candid lens. I wanna use it again
Great vintage lens find Carmine! Helpful affordable information! Angry Photographer use to provide this type of great alternative choices until he went off the reservation on various planets.
Hello Carmine, I’m hoping you could help me. I’ve been issued a D850 with Nikkor 75-300 lens, and am taking a close-up technical photo from about 15 yards off a moving platform 🚁. I’m experimenting at home with a D800 and have settled on Shutter priority, with auto ISO, and 5.6 opening. I let the AF-C do it’s magic and adjust the +/- if required. Am I on the right track? Happy Christmas 🎄😊 2:25
Hello and Merry Christmas. Very interesting photo shoot. My recommendations are... *Because there will be movement from the platform you Must do this.. *SHUTTER PRIORITY SPEED 1/500 OR HIGHER *ISO 1000-1250 MIN YOUR D850 WILL PRODUCE EXCELLENT PHOTOS, FEAR NOT :)
Older gear works great! I have a question about buying from Japan. Are there any additional duties, fees, etc. to pay if they're shipping to the US? Most listings I've seen from Japan on camera gear mentions that the buyer is responsible for any additional duties, fees, etc. I didn't think there were additional fees but thought I'd ask. Thanks!
Keep this Lens Compatibility chart for future reference. www.nikonusa.com/images/learn-explore/photography-techniques/2011/which-nikkor-is-right-for-you/media/nikkor-lens-compatibility-chart.pdf
I have old lens such as Nikkor 50mm, Nikkor 35-105mm (all metal), Nikkor 70-300mm (compact not the metal body) and it shoot sharp on my D7000, 72000 but it don't auto focus on my D3200 however it still give crisp photos that I need. I'am using it for wedding, portrait and etc. I have not encounter of this lens yet but I probably have one of this one of this days. If it can't shoot at shortest distance of 5 ft. that is already a perfect lens for me. Thank you for this video. 🎯
