Version 1.5.0 of Capture NX-D came out a couple of months ago. It allows for colour control points that were dropped from the software a few years ago. These allow targeted, local adjustments of brightness, contrast, saturation, and red, green and blue colour components. I really like Capture NX-D. It runs fast enough on my 6 year old Windows 7 box and it has encouraged me to shoot in RAW. I was discouraged from RAW initially when I bought my first Nikon DSLR, ten years ago. In those days the Nikon software to edit RAW was expensive. Now that I have become used to RAW, I will never go back to JPEG!
I just been shooting and shooting and shooting away for 3 weeks since I purchased my beautiful Nikon P1000 which has far surpassed my initial expectations of its versatility and capabilities and find myself with over 45 gigs of pics and short clips and now it is time to filter through the keepers from the bunch and begin enhancements on them, until I found this video I was not even aware that Nikon provide a free software for editing so I am greatful to have stumbled upon you tutorial.. thank to u
Ok Snap Chick. You have been so helpful using my D750. I have the 24-70 2.8 & 70-200 2.8. Seriously, if my photos are not extra sharp is this what I have been missing. I know this software came with my camera. Yet I was depending on the other software as Luminare. The SnapSeed, for my iPad. My photos are generally 80% sharp but this has been driving me nuts. Thanks for all your help. Even this video was amazingly SHARP D'Anna
Thanks for showing this , i got a new d3500 and aparently capture one dont support it, and not a big Adobe fan. Had no idea they had their own software.
I use the NXD software most of the time. I do have CyberLink photo editor and it’s video editor that came bundled with my laptop. The CyberLink allows a lot of detail with control of individual colours by hue, intensity and saturation. I can also change highlights, shadows etc on a lot of detail plus noise reduction, sharpness, clarity. I usually use the NXD and work with a RAW image then transfer it to JPEG to work with CyberLink which says it will do RAW but when I open a file, they are all red.
Thanks for the video, all my cameras a nikon but I edit with raw therapee. I have to say that I am impressed with your video, I didn´t know NX-D were so powerful. Greetings from El Salvador in the Center of America, that is Central America, of course.
Hey lady ' good straight up honest video about software' I also use Capture NX-D and I fine tune with affinity photo got it for 24.99 about three years ago.. I had been using an old pirated vr. of PS from the Windows 98se days lol' thanks for all the good info on your D500 videos.
Holy crap! Stiching, Macros, effects, etc etc for about $40 right now, WOW!!!! Thanks for your comment, I would probably never know about Affinity Photo!!!!! :) (I'm stuck in the 90's with Photoimpact 8.0! LOL)
Hi, I downloaded capture nx-d and I am not able to view or load my raw files in to the software. I have my D3400 set to save both raw and jpeg file when I take a picture. What am I doing wrong?
I shoot Nikon (D500) and use Capture NX-D every single time. The fact that it does global edits and not local edits or endless layering keeps me from dicking around on the computer too much polishing a perfectly good photo into overcooked oblivion. Plus. Free. For Nikon RAW. I definitely recommend it.
Thanks for the video - I've always just transferred manually and then let Lightroom access it but lately I've been unhappy with paying monthly. I've been trying out a few options available to buy, like CaptureOne, but then just upgraded to a Z6 and found the Capture NX-D software. It looks like it'll do everything I need it to do :-) By the way, what focal length are you shooting the video on? It's a great balance of sharp you and softly blurred background.
I’ll have to try something aperture doesn’t seem to support D850 raw. I usually only if at all apply a polariser effect & occasionally adjust mid levels or lack point. So rarely though , it’s been suggested to me just to shoot JPEG. For that I would agree things like Adobe CC are a bit much.
LightRoom would be good. Photoshop is a learning curve. It also contains Camera Raw. Very good program. You can try them both of them for a 30 day free trial. > I pay $10.. 50 a month for their Photography subscribtions.. Updates automatically. LR 6 CC usually can be purchsed on disk at a Bet Buy type store. But I don't know the price and if it updates. All 3 products Nikon , LR and PS all have their pros and cons. The support and tutorials are better with Adobe.
Gosh when I realised that pretty lady was you when you said so at 2:30 after not having paid any attention to the software features but only the lovely look on your face.. Ur so pretty😁
May I ask, what camera and software are you using to record this presentation. I've had Nikon DSLR for many years and never really used their potential, D80 and in more recent years the D7000. Your video has been inspirational...
Thanks for watching! As for filming/editing, I don't remember exactly what I shot with for this video but I do have a Kit of the gear I use the most often... kit.com/SnapChick/filming-youtube-videos :)
Thank you this helped me a lot but I don't understand why some other editing parts of the capture nx-d aren't working or rather turned off and unusable like the "flat and clarity" under picture control??? Pls can somebody explain I'm getting really frustrated. I have Nikon D5300 and I'm using windows 10!!
I like that this NXD software is free. Is this a good place to start editing raw files? Right now I am using Mac photos which I am finding somewhat limiting. I am using the d3300 with 16-85, 35 1.8G and 55-300.
Hi, I have the software and recently I started to used it, but searching on RU-vid I only have found just two good videos of the Nikon Capture, but they are from the old version, I have the Ver 1.4.6 (2014-2017). I only have work with Nikon View Nx-2 since I bought my Nikon camera (3 years ago)... Well, I have a few doubts of how it works and what to do? For example: if I do a edition of a photo I took in RAW and that photo presents a little noise (you know, the little dots of pixels that burn o the picture), I saw that I can improve the pic on the software on Capture, but how I save those changes? And, the "corrections" I did on the picture, can apply also when I open again the Nikon View?... Another doubt, (I'm a spanish speaker, so the videos I've seen are in spanish!, and I refer to them), in those the tutorials says how to "reveal the photo" in the histogram appears a little square tha I should to mark, so I can reveal to blacks or whites... In this version; I can find it! :( So, can you help me? Thanks, for readme!
What do you recommend, other than the Adobe products, that stacks images (in particular star photos) and creates merged panoramas from several single frames? I have Helicon 3D, but it's done a horrible job with stacking star photos. (I'm a Nikon + Windows user)
Nice video... 1 - Do you recommend Cature NXD ver Adobe Photoshop Camera Raw ? 2 - does Capture softwards support working with Layers like Adobe ? Thanks for answering...
Nikon used to have Nik control points in their software? Did they do away with that or is it just in the version that you buy? Nikon Capture 4 was PAINFULLY slow when I tried it a decade or so ago.
Kudos for the Video clip! Apologies for the intrusion, I am interested in your thoughts. Have you tried - Riddleagan Made Masterpiece Remedy (erm, check it on google should be there)? It is a great exclusive guide for learning professional photo editing minus the normal expense. Ive heard some interesting things about it and my cousin after many years got amazing results with it.
The people at Nik Software sold everything to Google, I think. Then went out of business. That’s why Capture NX and NX2 can’t be updated. I loved Capture NX2 and used it when I was shooting weddings and events. It used to work with all my cameras up to and including the D800. All newer Nikon camera’s images are not supported.
@@LeighAndRaymond Hello maam! i tried it yesterday and i cant import my NEF files to the editor.. It said that "The file cannot be added to the list. These are invalid files."
I feel I have to do a universe research in order to find my cropped images hat this thing just created ,even on the manual there is nothing about where this F... thing put them
It can be confusing. When you hit "Convert Files," a window pops up. At the bottom, it says "Save in." There, you can hit the Browse button to put the files anywhere you want. :)
@@LeighAndRaymond i tried and cannot do it, he say he use the source folder but the files are not there and I don't want to lose the original But I have a folder called Nksc_param with many 21 kB files that nothing can open even Capture NXD, I googled it and discover that it is the adjustment of each foto .The ajustment is saved but not the file itself as a new one ,???? What the F... is that
I think I got it, but he doesn't obei my cropping, he crop where HE wants ,and the cropped are on a tray on top of the normal folder and are 5 times larger than the original 63 instead of 12 because I chose Tiff instead of jpg
I think this is ok but eeh .. not all of the viewers are from USA and for us you are very quick and talk very fast - I cannot get how you straigten it up this you do so fast
