This video is simply going over the buttons, doors and menus on the Nikon D5600. I also show a few photo/video examples from the camera.
This is to help those who have just purchased the Nikon D5600 learn their way around the camera body. The more you know, the less you will feel intimidated with the available features and settings! If you have any questions I didn't answer, please let me know in the comments below!

Om my god, my English is Not the best and I wanted to learn my camera with subtitlel in Swedish. BUT!! She is so amazing, I have understand almost everything, wow! Thank you for that! I tried another video, but the guy talked so fast! I couldn't get it! He should be a reporter who comment sports, not teaching. I just want to get out with my camera and try everything I have learnt from You. Big thanks for that

Your instructions are clear and precise and I can easily follow it. I am new to having a camera, and it is very slow steps for me. I spent a three hour, one on one session with a photographer recently to help me with my camera, but it was information overload. I am sure I forgot 95 percent of what I was told. This video has been so helpful, and I plan to go over it as often as I need to . Thank you.

@shutterbug 101 really helpful video! Here's what I wanted to know, the exposure compensation button doesn't control exposure when in manual mode but instead controls the aperture. So, in manual mode, how to use exposure compensation?
@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 3 года назад
So I’m Manual mode, because you have all the control over every aspect of exposure (ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture), in order to get a lower or higher exposure you need to change one of these options. In P, S, and A mode, there is always a variable that the camera is assisting with so you can tell it if you need it a bit brighter or darker. That is an excellent question! Let me know if you have any others!

Thank you for doing this video. I have searched for videos to explain DLSR’s and most of them are so difficult to understand and after I watch them I am still confused. The way you explain things makes it so much easier for me, and things just click if that makes sense. I have already watched a few of your videos tonight as I have just found you tonight and I did subscribe. Few questions, *first what is that song that is in your intro, definitely sounds like something I would download. *I have the NikonD5600 and I have had about a year. The pyramid that you talked about in one of your other videos with the shutter, ISO and aperture. I cannot wrap my head around how to set all 3 of them for a picture. I don’t know if that makes sense so I’ll give you an example. Sitting by the river and a bass boat is coming up the river and it’s a sunny day. It’s a good distance away from me. I have played around with them and I cannot get good shot. *My camera came with a 70-300 mm lense. Can you do a video on the different lenses for cameras. *What program do you use to edit your photos? I have Lightroom but have to learn it better, what about tutorial on edit software. Ok I think I will stop now lol. Thank you for your videos, you are a godsend and please keep doing them and sorry I bombarded you.

I am so so happy my videos can be of some help! I teach this kind of stuff at a camera store I work at, and my students wanted a reference to go to other than the manual, so I started this channel and I am happy to help even more people understand the world of photography, because it can be a very overwhelming place to be in! My intro song on my videos (which I absolutely LOVE) is called Fly Away by TheFatRat. This is the link, its free to use and download. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cMg8KaMdDYo.html When it comes to your exposure triangle (ISO, Shutter Speed, and Aperture), they do all work together, but that doesn't mean you yourself set all of them. That would basically be working in full Manual mode which I don't recommend people use as a primary mode. Consider your goal. If the bass boat is moving rather quickly down the river, you want to set your ISO to Auto, and put your dial mode to S for Shutter Speed to freeze the motion of the boat. If you take the boat out of the equation and your just shooting the landscape, A or Aperture mode is what you want to be in. Or P mode (Program) if you are just getting into learning the ISO, Shutter Speed and Aperture. Check out my Program Mode Video, Shutter Speed Mode Video and Aperture Mode Video in my Camera Basics Playlist: ru-vid.com/group/PL0jHU7tULNujpSsJ6n5hrddSUWVRvKy_p I have been trying to include lens comparisons and reviews in my current videos, but as there are hundreds of options of lenses, its hard to review every single one. I think I will eventually get there, for sure, like doing what lenses are best for what circumstance, but it will be a few months before I can start on those. The kit lenses that come with Nikon and Canon are meant to get you started and unfortunately are not the best quality. When people come in to talk to me about this issue, I recommend the same lens every time and haven't had a single unhappy customer with it: the Tamron 18-400mm Its an all in one lens so you don't have to carry two, it has top notch stabilization, has a macro ability, and Tamron covers any factory issues or maintenance for 6 years! Definitely check out the link: mikescamera.com/shop/tamron-18-400mm-f3-5-6-3-di-ii-vc-hld-model-b028-nikon/de10b550-38bf-0135-0992-00163e9110c0?variation=1536710 I currently edit with Adobe Lightroom CC, I find it easy to use. However, if you don't shoot in RAW, or your not shooting professionally (yet), Adobe Photoshop Elements is EXTREMELY easy to use and it is a one time payment. I used that program for a few years before I moved to Lightroom. Please feel free to "bombard" me with more questions anytime :) As long as someone is learning something from my videos, I am going to keep making them! Feel free to share!

well explained vedio on this camera model, thanks for that. Few questions still around,if you reply will be helpful ,thanks in advance . what is the main difference between P mode and M mode ?? how you can switch off flash in AUTO mode?? does this camera model has AF/MF on/off button on top or any where??
@liba
@liba 3 года назад
I know one of these. Beside auto there is another mode with a flash symbol and slash through it. This is auto with no flash.
@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 3 года назад
Great questions! The P mode is Program Auto. It is your first step off the auto mode where you can choose shutter speed or aperture, focusing modes and areas, ISO and more, while the camera limits those options to still assist in getting you a properly exposed photograph. The M mode is full Manual. The camera will not assist you in any way, it will only do what you set each setting to individually. Liba is correct, if you want full auto mode but want the flash to stop popping up, there is a symbol on the mode dial of a flash symbol with the no symbol through it. In order to switch from auto focus to manual focus (If the switch is not on the lens), you will have to use your menu or quick menu. Please let me know if you have any other questions!

@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 Год назад
This is a normal occurrence, as it is still using the mirror and shutter when taking the photo. This camera wasn't designed to use live view as a primary way to take photos, only when you are in a pinch. Mirrorless cameras have made it much easier and faster to shoot in a live view setting where what you see is what you get as well.

@Shutterbug101
@Shutterbug101 3 года назад
Correct, the only difference between the D5600 and D5300 is that the 56 has touch screen and has an extended battery life, due to some changes with the power management. I would love to answer any questions you or your students have! And the manual modes are for anyone, even hobbyists, who wish to take more control over their photos and videos. This was just a walkthrough of what the camera has physically and what it’s features are. To use these features, I recommend looking at my camera basics playlist where it breaks the manual modes, focusing modes and metering modes down. Or looking up a photography/video basics class/video. If there were key points I missed please let me know so I can address them in future videos.
